A beautiful eco-friendly boutique hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. Everything about this place was just perfect for us. We were lucky enough to find this gem of a place for our trip to Nepal. Top 3 best things about Kantipur Temple House - 1. Architecture - built in 1998 inspired by Ancient nepali woodwork and architectural elements. We were just mesmerized by how calm and relaxed we felt at the property. 2. Service - The staff is extremely helpful, we were never disappointed by them. Whenever we needed any help or a recommendation, the staff were there for us. They really made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Especially Suman, you rock man! 3. Location- The location is in the centre of Thamel, the bustling tourist centre of Kathmandu. It’s located within minutes from the best restaurants, cafes and shopping places. Very convenient! 4. Food - We had breakfast included with our room and they kept it simple, which is the best thing. Organic eggs, fresh yogurt, fresh fruits, delicious Nepali coffee and the lovely staff always put us in the right mood every morning. 5. Atmosphere- The hotel is silent, calm, peaceful and relaxing. After walking through noisy Thamel, reaching KTH was always a delight. It always felt like we can be home. There’s so much more I would love to write but I’ll leave it to you to experience this place for yourself. 10 stars for KTH if I could give them. Kudos Mr. Bharat and team for hosting us.…
My friend and I were very happy that we chose this hotel for our stay in Kathmandu. We were picked up at the airport on time and driven to the hotel. It is located in the centre of Thamel and we were able to walk everywhere by foot. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The architecture of the building is astonishing and very beautiful. Most importantly, the staff was extremely nice and helpful and made us feel welcome in the hotel and in Kathmandu. I really can recommend staying in this hotel!
Kirtipur Temple House was the first place I stayed in Kathmandu and it was a wonderful place. I was picked up from the airport, which made my travels less stressful. My flight was very late and staff were still there to meet me hours later. This hotel is beautiful with intricate wood work and a nice outdoor garden. It’s quiet at night and was very relaxing after a day out in Kathmandu. The food was better then any food in the surrounding area. The head chief was friendly and accommodating. I was spoiled with local food he made. The staff are friendly and most importantly nice people who are easy to communicate with. I felt safe here and would stay again if I was to take a vacation here.
My friends and I were lucky to choose this wonderful hotel for our stay in Kathmandu during lockdown in May 2021. We enjoyed endless breakfasts in a beautiful cozy yard, heritage rooms and galleries, incredible hospitality of the Hotel’s manager Suman and all hotel’s amenities for our comfort. It was an unforgettable experience and I dream about coming back after pandemia to see this charming hotel alive, full of energy and people!
I feel obligated to write this review having just “attempted” to stay in this hotel on April 19, 2021. While the architecture is indeed beautiful, the hotel has fallen into significant disrepair. The halls were dusty and dark. The bed linens were absolutely filthy. Crows are nesting everywhere on the hotel grounds, lending an ominous abandoned vibe to an already dark building. The restaurant and room service are closed. The rooftop that they advertise as hosting daily yoga is now used to dry laundry and store various random trash. This was the only hotel I encountered in Nepal that fails to provide water for guests (also no shampoo). And unlike other hotels in Thamel, which use heat pumps for the showers, this facility uses a solar heater which is hit or miss depending on the vagaries of the sun. I was really creeped out by the place but the cold shower was the final straw (trust me, I had taken plenty over the previous two weeks but in Kathmandu - not okay) and I went next door to the Friends Hotel where I got a room with clean sheets, hot water, two water bottles, and shampoo at a lower rate.…
