Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the Aloft, Kathmandu during a recent visit. I was staying there with my family, and it was a very pleasant stay. The reasons we chose the hotel were that the location was great, the indoor pool allowed us to use it even in the winter and the rooms looked brand new. Upon arrival, we were taken to the lobby, where the reception desk seemed very small, but we were quickly shown to our room. The room was perfect as such, the views were great and the bedding was perfect. The only drawback was that the bathroom door wouldn't unlock easily (got locked in twice) and after one showers, the water easily spreads everywhere on the floor. But truthfully, these are easily fixable problems. The breakfast menu was really good. The omlette in particular was excellent and we really enjoyed breakfast every morning. The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect. Everything is a short drive or walk away. The staff was super friendly and ready to help. In my eyes, there is only one drawback at this hotel. The hotel really needs to tie up with a proper taxi agency and provide cars upon request. We found the back and forth a bit too much with the concierge desk. It left me irritated. I understand that hotel taxis are expensive and thus not apt for every customer, but we just expect a brand like Aloft to have taxis available with them at all times. All in all, it was a great stay, we really enjoyed the hotel and it's facilities and the staff was absolutely top notch. If I ever go back to Kathmandu, I'd only want to stay at Aloft, Thamel again.
P.S. - The mask discipline of the hotel staff is absolutely perfect. Not once did I spot a staff member with their mask off.

Dear NRM Firstly thank you taking the time out to write such a honest and detailed review ! Namaste and we are thrilled to read your feedback including the grey areas which we shall definitely have improvements done on priority Your recognition of the team is motivating and making you have an memorable experience in the hotel. As rightly pointed we are in the periphery of Thamel and our rooms start from the 7th floor so each one has has amazing view of the city, all major sights and sounds very nearly located to us including the Chhaya Center with Retail, F&B , QFX and other options We are trying to work with the Taxi Association to get an uninterrupted supply of taxis for our clients, which is not prevailing in Kathmandu unfortunately yet We hope you choose to create more memories during your next stay with us, whenever your travels bring you back to Aloft Kathmandu Thamel Sincerely, Vikram Singh

Me and my partner booked a room at Aloft without much expectation as our 31st evening plan was last minute and Aloft was located at the perfect location. We booked a normal deluxe room which was on offer at that time and it included breakfast as usual.
Check in was really smooth and staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. Once I checked in to my room I was really surprised with the amenities and attention to detail. Since we both worked at 5 star hotel in Melbourne for past 7 years We are usually not easily impressed but Aloft was 10/10 in terms of Service, cleanliness, location and amenities and is of international standard.
We would highly recommend Aloft for anyone planning to visit Nepal or even if you are looking for staycation☺️

I stayed in this hotel on business trip but because of some local laws of Lockdown I had to stay for more than a week. The hotel is taking good precautions for Covid. Sanitzers are kept at every possible place in hotel and staff is adhering covid guidelines.I felt this as Covid safe hotel. During my stay I found most caring and consistent staff ever seen. Anywhere you go in hotel they make you feel like a family. The rooms are well cleaned and housekeeping staff surprises you with towel arts and personalized notes. Food is good and most importantly the chef's are innovative and cooks personalized dishes for you.

I loved this hotel. The location in Thamel was very convenient for access to the local travel agents,to the shopping, and the sights. The food was really enjoyable and delicious. I ate my three daily meals there and I loved their wine selection, the rooms were clean, spacious and modern, the bed was wonderful for naps and the much needed deep sleep, but above and beyond all else it was the staff. From the front door coming in out of the chaotic Thamel precinct, to the people at the check in desk, especially the manager who really went out of his way to make sure I had a valid and confirmed booking at Tiger Mountain Lodge in Pokhara, to the chef who mixed with the patrons to make sure all was up to their needs, to the excellent laundry service I really cannot say enough about this hotel. I had the name of the service desk manager but I have misplaced it so if per chance he reads this note I again give you my very sincere commendation for how you helped me during my time at your hotel.
In fact I felt so secure and content here that I really had to push myself to leave. Everything just came together so well.

Bear in mind Aloft is a Marriott Hotels brand and is therefore somewhat cookie-cutter and soulless but they do a decent job of making it un-stuffy and welcoming. On the plus side it means staff are well trained and facilities are on point. This specific hotel is relatively new and therefore in good condition. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Of note is the generous distribution of hand sanitizing stations - every counter, every table, even inside the lifts (so you can sanitize after pressing the buttons.
Breakfast spread has a generous variety of Eastern and Western items and is good quality. Rooms are clean and spacious with plenty of amenities including a large screen TV and an ironing board with iron. The bed is super comfortable with high quality linen. Housekeeping staff is brilliant, special shout out to Radhika on the 6th floor for her towel sculptures!
Location at the heart of Thamel is of course perfect for tourists and shoppers. Hotel itself is attached to a brand new and modern shopping mall which is not yet fully occupied but has bars, eateries and perhaps most important to foreign guests, a NCELL kiosk to buy or recharge a local sim card. Beyond is Thamel proper, plenty of dining and shopping options and vendors are broadly good natured and open to bargaining a bit. Don't be too tough on them though, Nepal was closed for almost 3 years and many businesses have barely survived so your dollars/pounds/euros are sorely needed.
To die for feature: The views, especially North facing from higher floors.
Bit puzzling: The pool is indoors and therefore dark and the whole place smells strongly of chlorine. Not at all inviting. Puzzling because its on the top floor and could easily have been open air.

This was my second time staying at this gem of a property. We were very skeptical considering the current pandemic, but we felt more safe at Aloft than at home. From the moment we stepped inside the premises, they made sure to adapt all safety measures from sanitizing our shoes and luggage to temperature check and contactless check in. Overall, It was a perfect staycation and an escape from the mundanity. Also, I would like to add that they have the most amazing pillows and we had the best sleep. Thank you Aloft!

Came to Aloft for a one night stay after trekking and were overall disappointed. Some of the positives - everything was clean, staff was friendly, and it was in a great location!
We had room 526 and upon walking in it was dreadfully hot. We thought that it was because nobody had stayed in the room for the past few days, but after being in it for an hour we realized the AC was malfunctioning. It would turn on, then turn off 30 seconds later, so after returning from dinner we called the front desk to fix it. After the repair man came, it worked for about one hour (long enough for us to fall asleep) but then quit working for the remainder of the night. My wife and I both woke up sweating in the middle of the night and struggled to sleep from 12am-6am. It got so warm in the room that we opened the door to the hallway in the morning to get some cooler air as we were getting ready.
Upon checking out we told the front desk about the problem again so that they could get this resolved for future guests. Overall we were disappointed with Aloft because of the lack AC in the room leading to it being too hot. If you get room 526 over the next few weeks I would suggest asking for a room change, unless you like your room between 23-25 Celsius.

My spouse and I have had the privilege of staying at the Aloft in Thamel on two recent occasions now. We found the convenience to restaurants and entertainment in Thamel makes the Aloft an ideal choice.
The rooms are as comfortable and clean as anyone should expect from a Marriott property. While comfort and location are important, the reason why we will be returning next month is that the service is simply as top notch as any five star hotel or resort we've ever visited. The staff are very well trained, tremendously prompt and thorough in addressing any request you may have. It's a minor detail, but in my most recent visit I was surprised to see they still remembered my name, despite having only stayed overnight a couple months earlier. I want to give particular kudos to Unami, an attendant who graciously went above and beyond in his service on both stays.
For a budget/mid-range hotel, the Aloft surely does feel like hidden value for the price. I'm looking forward to my next stay in a matter of weeks. And for anyone coming to Kathmandu for a few nights of tourism and looking to stay somewhere central, I highly recommend this hotel.

Just spent 8 nights in the Aloft as a last minute booking because Nepal went into complete lockdown due to Covid-19 and the airport closed .
First impressions were amazing, everything is so clean and new compared to the oldness of the city outside. The staff were all great, all very friendly, well dressed and extremely polite, a true credit to the hotel.
The restaurant was very clean and the food was amazing. At breakfast, the chefs would cook whatever eggs you would like and deliver them to your table, nothing was too much trouble.
The rooms, like the rest of the hotel, were clean, spacious and modern.
On the top floor is a well equipped gym which overlooks an indoor swimming pool.
All the staff were amazing, they made our stay very comfortable, would love to go back again.

Yes, but you have to arrange for one thru the hotel, I think it’s USD 10, per trip. If it is your first time there and it is a late flight, u may want to book transport. Otherwise, u can download InDrive app (similar to Uber or grab)… it’s about usd 4, however, your luggage’s may not fit the car (their cars tend to be smaller than usual).
Hope u enjoy your trip.
You need to contact the hotel directly
I did not see any rooms with balconies, but if you are familiar with Kathmandu the air quality is horrible. I also typically leave a window open in my hotel room, where possible, but would not do so in Kathmandu because of the smog. I hope this helps.
