So we had to stay at this hotel because this was included in our trekking package. We had to pay for extra nights due to bad weather delaying our flights. Paying to stay here may have been convent for meeting the group leaded in the morning but that's where the good ends. Our bed was a wooden box with thin...

consider that you are in Kathmandu - Not paris! and manage your expectations - the hotel will be adequate. Staff are pleasant and try hard but are faced with power cuts, some mosquitos and a mediocre breakfast. However, that said, if you're here trekking, you'll sleep just fine. Location is central - short walk from other restaurants and the main...

This is nice little place, right downtown and close to everything. You are secluded, with a nice garden. This is one of the oldest places around and that is why they have the space. The city is crazy and dirty, so nice to be away. The rooms are pretty poor, just the basics. For us, we were going trekking for...

This hotel is buried in a noisy section of Thamel. If you get a room with windows to the back you'll need earplugs. I stayed here twice, before and after a trek. My room after the trek was much nicer. These are basic rooms that are clean but have that feel of being too old to not have some deep...

For me it was absolutely good value. Clean rooms with own bathroom and good wi-fi connection and quiet area, bazaars / small food shops / regular restaurants are very close. Nice local breakfast with "pay later policy". Friendly staff and helpful receptionist. Postal service is available and quick to Europe.

Hotel Shakti, stayed there after the earthquake for volunteer work. There are many other occupants there at that time as well! One thing that matters the most is, it is safe! This hotel is given a 'green'. The staffs at the hotel are probably the friendliest and most helpful ones i'd met. The price for what you get, is really...

There is absolutely no reason to stay at this place considering the plentiful options available elsewhere in Thamel. Old dingy rooms decorated by someone's great nana, wifi only works in the lobby (coincidentally the nicest part of the hotel so don't be fooled when you walk in), beds like plywood shipping crates, and you'll be lucky to get a room...

I was shocked to learn the price of the rooms considering the quality you get. The rooms are old and dark. Power availability seems to be worse than at other places and the generator was right in front of our room window and very noisy. We stayed here as part of our trekking tour and I was very much looking...

Located at some side street, this was where my gecko tour ended, another hotel which had no wifi, electricity off for half the day as well as the hot water, rooms were freezing, had to ask for a heater but what good is that with no electricity Im not sure if this is a problem everywhere in Kathmandu, but it...

I always stay here when in Kathmandu & trekking with Mountain Monarch. This hotel has a modern frontage but old Rajah style rear. Rooms are 2 star but very comfortable. This hotel is a few minutes walk from the heart of Thamel, just around the corner from the amazing Garden of Dreams & 5 minutes walk from my favourite restaurant,...
