We visited the place quite some years back when the hotel was starting up. Unlike the unpleasant experience, many visitors have mentioned here, we had a terrific one. Firstly, we got a free upgrade to one of the luxury rooms with an amazing view. The hotel was impeccably clean, well-stocked, and with amazing staff. Secondly, the lobby and reception areas were fabulous with small candles and flowers all around. They had two laptops, to be used freely by guests, a tiny library, and a live band performing every evening. Yes, the food was very expensive. But that's how it is across all of Thumpu unless you decide to eat the local meals. We had the luxury room for 2 nights and then had to shift to our booked room, which was kind of cramped up with absolutely no view. So yes, with the money we spent that time, our regular room would have been slightly disappointing and the food could burn a hole in your pockets. Thankfully the upgrade served us well.

Lovely little hotel with neat & clean rooms. The staff was very friendly and prompt with service. The location of the hotel was also perfect, just 2-3 mins away from the clock tower and most of the popular restaurants in the city.

This was one of the best experiences I have had traveling alone. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel beautiful and perfectly located at the heart of town. Had zero complaints!! Will definitely recommend it to everyone I know, and go back there myself!

We booked the hotel after reviewing trip advisor's review, but to our surprise everything was different. When we reached hotel, it was completely dark with no lights and no one came to assist for almost 10 minutes even after calling. Check-in was done and we informed the girl named Kazang to give us hill/ road view. She confidently said it's a hill view. Upon reaching the room in pitch dark where another surprise was waiting for us, there was no hill, no road rather someone's toilet was visible. We informed the girl Kazang about it and she started shouting on top of her voice and arguing that we have to stay in that room only as the hotel is full. I have never seen such a hotel staff in my life, she was very rude and mannerless. Some more staff came out and she started talking to them in their regional language and we informed her to speak in English, she raised her voice and tone and shouted more loudly stating she doesn't know English and she'll not talk in English. When we informed her to call manager/ owner, she refused saying they are out of city and no-one is there. After 20-25 minutes of this drama another staff came and informed to shift our room in evening. Room was spacious because we booked executive category. Breakfast was horrible. I would request everyone not to go to this hotel as it will be wastage of money and you'll ruin your trip.

My family took our first holiday to Bhutan, fortunately we booked our self at Hotel Norbuling, Thimphu. We stayed at the Executive Double Rooms, which had beautiful views of the Mountain as well as the Football ground as well as the Archary ground. Located at the centre of the town, walking distance from the clock tower. The Manager - Miss Tashi, and her team were very prompt and curtious. Making our visit a memorable one. We were also served vegetable momos, one of the best we have ever had. Thanks for your hospitality. Sachin Kumar Agarwalla & Family. Kolkata, India

We are at a loss of words to describe how wonderful Hotel Norbuling, Thimphu is. Of course, the hotel is nice, cozy, centrally located ...blah blah blah..but the reason we give five stars to our stay is due to the tremendous warmth and friendliness of the hotel staff. we have been to a zillion hotels but never before had we connected with the staff so well before. so so so friendly and amazing staff. guess this is where we saw the true happiness of the people of Bhutan. we reached Thimphu on a saturday morning and were disappointed to find offices in the city closed for the weekend. we realized we could not get permits made for Punakha till monday. This meant that we would have had to drop Punakha from our itinerary. when the hotel staff got to know this, they gave so much time to us designing a new itinerary so that we could get permits on monday and still fit Punakha into our tight schedule. This was only possible because of the reception staff who were extremely patient and enthusiastic. Next, they called up all the hotels booked in our itinerary and rebooked everything for us ad got us back on schedule. They made the permits for us complimentary on monday. While we waited for the permits on monday, they made sure that we were comfortable in the lobby, served us refreshments and also dressed us up in traditional bhutanese clothes which were wonderful. We stayed at multiple hotels in Bhutan during our stay and connected the most with the staff of Norbuling. Its like when you visit somebody's home and find the host to be warm, caring and comforting, then your stay at the home, automatically becomes blissful and rewarding. we would like in particular to mention the two ladies in the photos with us and a guy who was on duty in the night, who happened to be the most wonderful of the lot. Wish we had their names....

Two friends and I stayed here on our first night in Bhutan. We were made to feel extremely welcome, with a lovely cup of hot coffee to greet us before we went to our rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and provided with everything we could need, including two heaters as it was rather cold. The rooms are a really nice size and well furnished. Our dinner was very good and the service throughout excellent.

It’s our great pleasure to write regarding so nice hotel and staffs...
It was so suddenly planned to visit Bhutan from our side! We had no clue for anything… we only knew that we want to go… that’s the start on 9th April 2015, where we wanted to travel on 13th morning keeping 10 & 11 as weekend…
If I now look back yes it was an impossible plan where air tickets, hotels nothing in this peak season at Bhutan is so easy… Knowingly, even after that we had strong determination to travel… and that’s on 13th April… !!!
Yes, the Talents, Jennies and Good People around made it true… we traveled to amazing Bhutan!!! So, nicely and comfortably that’s beyond our imagination.
We wrote as many as 25 emails to various hotels and resorts for room at Thimphu and Paro, none but Norbuling replied first… for room only?!... It was a gift from above… which led us to have the completeness of the tour, the rooms in Thimphu and Paro, the vehicle and the Great man Mr. Karma.
Mss. Dolma the Managing Director of Norbuling, had the great start, confirming us that things are possible and finally she proved, yes it is! Her great staffs in Norbuling, Tashi, Tandin, Bishnu and many more (my apology of not remembering the names) helped us all through the tour. It was not only services; rather the emotional attachment we felt is amazing. The words on a white page just cannot explain the feelings. We are not only happy with it… you made us grateful for that.
Mr. Karma, who was always with us was also introduced by Norbuling staffs could just win our heart in short time. We never felt we were in different country and alone… He could easily understand us, our choice, interest and love for the nature. Did not stop only taking us to different so beautiful places, rather briefed us details and did much more. Apart from many places of tourist interests, taking us to apple orchard, pine forest, collecting pine seeds, handicrafts shopping, and many many more… we are grateful to you Mr. Karma… from deep inside our heart.
Tashi Namgay Resort, which was also arranged by Norbuling, was a unique experience for us. It’s natural beauty is multiplied with it’s so pleasant staffs. We are amazed…..
As said I have limitation of expressing in writing… and such beauty, feelings, loveliness, satisfactions really cannot be expressed in pen and paper…
All our gratitude for hotel management and staffs...

Well located in the centre of town, Norbuling consistently offered me the best service during my 2 month stay in Bhutan. I had an opportunity to sample 4 other hotels, one higher star and the others the same. Norbuling outshone them in terms of customer service, genuinely happy and helpful staff and clean and comfortable rooms. The food is also excellent and offers Bhutanese, Chinese, Indian and Continental cuisine. A heated bed sheet was the icing on the cake!
In addition, all of the staff were very helpful when we wanted to head out of town on sightseeing trips. They organised drivers, and made sure we were well looked after.
Highly recommended, we will be back!!
