It's a new hotel so basically everything is new including the staff. The room was nice and clean with good view.

It was our last night in Bhutan so we had to head out to Paro Airport early next morning. Their breakfast started at 7am. I asked for a room service for our own convenience at 6:15am. Despite repeated reminders, our breakfast only arrived at 7:20am. We had to finish our breakfast at light speed. I wonder why they were so slow as the buffet breakfast shall be ready by 7am anyways. Next time, probably we should just go to the dining room directly, that would save our time. Staff training may improve the situation.

Except the breakfast issue, it wasn't a very bad experience as we didn't stay in the hotel for a long time.

This hotel is located in the centre of the city. The rooms are nice and big. The people are very friendly and courteous which is typical of the whole of Bhutan but the service could have been better. The food was very limited in choice.

having booked a standard package through "Make my trip", i was hoping only for a clean hotel. I was amazed and pleasently surprised at Dorji Elements.. we were upgraded to a suite as it was available, the room & the bathroom could match any 5 star facility in India, the food was excellent the staff was efficient and cordial & the view was very good.
The location was walking distance from the city center but was not ON the main roads. It is managed by one of the partners who also stays there & ensures everything is perfect. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Thimpu.

Two of us-all retired from Indian Railways-visited Bhutan recently with our spouses and spent three nights in Dorji Elements boutique hotel in Thimphu. We are strict vegetarians, avoiding the use of garlic and onion too if we can. The hotel staff were very considerate and ensured that we got excellent vegetarian meals/breakfast without garlic/onion. 'Dhall' 'dahi' 'puris' and 'chappatties' were served everytime without fail. Special mention needs to be made of Ms. Chador who took great pains to ensure that we got the type of food we wanted. The other hotel staff also were very courteous, considerate and polite and ensured that we got water when the Municipal Corporation failed to supply water to the hotel for a brief period.
We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yummy dinner here. Room is clean and big. However, i think restaurant is too small.
And there is free wifi...but sometime it doesn't work properly.

....There were many dogs outside the hotel. And they barked so loud all night long!!

Dear Wasanu - Thank you for your time to review on Dorji Elements Hotel. Your comments were well noted and helpful for us. We are seriously looking at different strategies to control the dogs especially barking at night when its time to sleep. Right from the beginning we have not fed any dogs within the premises of the hotel with a small hope that dogs wont be around the hotel. We are analysing on the WIFI facility and maybe if the speed of the WIFI does not improve from the service provider then we will be upgrading to another bandwidth. Have a nice day and thanks again for your time.

Hi, iam a indian coming from Abudhabi,Uae stayed there 2nd week of December 2017 spent there total 2 day, feel good hygienic rooms, maintaining ISO 22000 FSMS standard for the food preparations and restaurants , WIFI available in all hotel areas.Special thanks for the chefs who are prepare delicious food , when i reach bhutan little bit worry about food tastes of Indian, continental,Chinese dishes but luckily i feel the authentic taste of India in all these dishes.Especially veg pulav, kashmiri chicken ,mix vegetable served in in breakfast so yummy.Friendly and respecting staffs only draw back i feel that staffs are little bit in experienced while dealing with guest but they are maintaining very well. Overall facility of this hotel is suitable for 5 star category hotel especially its better in bhutan like country...Feed back form is available in rooms but no pens are available for writing feedback,I will recommend this hotel for who ever visiting Thimphu...Keep it up.

After 25 years of travel and over 50 countries, i've found the worst hotel. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are thinking with their reviews but here is my experience.

I consider myself a friendly person yet hardly a staff member said hello over two days. Customer service is simply non-existent. I tried to order a la carte breakfast and I couldn't find anyone to take an order for thirty minutes. I finally relented and prepared a single piece of toast with butter. No staff will even look at you, never mind approach you and ask if you need anything. It is not like I blend in either as the only westerner staying at the hotel. When food is delivered to the room, not a word is muttered by the staff even when a thank you is offered for the service.

Now for the room. I've never seen a dirtier room in all my travels. The walls look like they haven't been cleaned in decades. The light switches are covered in dirt. Spider webs are found on the ceilings. The linens are also dirty. A large pale sits in the shower stall for unknown purposes. The (first floor) bathroom window/door slides open and does not lock. The windows and walls in my corner room are so incredibly thin that when the dog packs wake up in the evening to roam, their deafening group bark fests feel like they are in the room with you. Even with earplugs one would have trouble drowning out the unbelievable, intermittent dog noise. The television didn't work until staff came and slapped the remote control a few times.

My balcony looked out to a gravel parking lot and what looked like a garbage dump for lumber where clothes were hung to dry.

The wifi is extremely weak. You cannot stream any type of video as there is constant buffering so you will have to stick with email and web browsing and, even then, it isn't great.

The hotel provided a single towel for the room. No face towel nor hand towel... just one bath towel. Returning from a day of touring, I found my bath towel, still wet from my earlier shower, folded on my bed! Who does this?

The dinner menu caters to Indians and Chinese and after trying nearly ten different plates, I was disappointed.

Many have said the hotel is dated. There can be no bigger understatement. Again, I've travelled in many developing countries in Asia, Africa and Central America and have yet to find a place where the food, the staff, and the room all failed immensely.

Stayed a night here with a group of 20+ people. Had a problem with room arrangement issue and the attentive management did not hesitate in offering a free room to help out. The hotel is relatively new (9 months old?) and very clean. The room on level 4 facing the river is cosy, bed is comfortable. Items in the room were functional. The step into the shower can be bothersome for old people, management will need to look into this. There were some stray dogs along river bank in the evening and we were told not to walk along there. Did not hear any disturbing barking at night. I wish the management and local government good luck in controlling the stray dog population. Location is central enough to get around easily.

Food is reasonable and the cafe staff service is very attentive. If you are a traveller looking for a clean comfortable place to stay, check this place out.
