This is one of the older hotels in Thimpu, so if you are looking for modern and trendy lodgings, this is not for you. I enjoyed this place, as it has the decor of an old palace. The rooms are around an interior atrium, which is decorated with painted and carved wood. It is easily one of the most photogenic hotels I've been at in a while. (But don't worry--there is a very modern elevator too!) My room was similarly decorated and very colourful. Heck they even had wifi, a flat screen TV and two space heaters! The downside is that my bed was a bit simple, and there was a draft because the shutters didn't close tightly. Although when opened, I had breathtaking views of Thimpu. The restaurant onsite served a traditional dinner, which was average. The breakfast is more Western, with fruits, eggs, sausage and pancakes. We were the only guests staying at the time, so the service was over-the-top wonderful. I liked this hotel because of the local architecture, but not sure my friends were quite as enthusiastic.

This is a very good hotel in the capital of Bhutan. Its service and its rooms are of good quality even if the decoration is a little dated, or if we want to put it in a more positive way, the decoration gives in the charm of the old.
During the winter period, unfortunately the swimming pool is closed and this makes the staff laugh when you ask to access it.
Wifi works well throughout the hotel.
The restaurant is large, but the pretty decoration makes you feel at home even if there are few tourists in the winter season.

When we arrived at the hotel it had only just reopened after its refurbishment and for the one night of our stay, we were the only guests. Our room had a KSB, TV, tea and coffee making facilities and the hotel provided two bottles of filtered water. There was a hairdryer and toiletries provided. Our room had no aircon or safe. There was a swimming pool which we did not have time to use. We ate in the hotel as there were no nearby restaurants. The food was very good with a soup starter and then a large variety of vegetable dishes with a chicken and beef dish, final a fresh fruit desert. In the morning we had cereal, fresh fruit, with eggs however you would like. The staff we met were all very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Our bill which was only for a few local beers had to be paid in cash.

The room was large and featured traditional Bhutanese architecture and decorations. The windows were particularly beautiful, and framed a lovely view of the city and valley. We were welcomed with freshly-prepared tea as we checked in. The food and service in the dining room was plentiful and of good quality. We only stayed one night in Thimphu, so did not have a chance to use the pool or see how walkable the location in town is. Shower was terrific with plenty of hot water, and hair dryer worked great. Comfortable bed.

Lovely refurbished hotel in Thimpu. The interior is absolutely beautiful with decorated carved wood structures, silk cloth decorations and charming staff. The hotel also has a big indoor swimming pool, conference space and wedding reception space ! We swam in the pool which had separate changing facilities with showers too. There’s an outside bar but we didn’t use it. Good location with lovely views.

Amazing Place and Cozy place to stay, the staff and people are kind, accomodative and magical in organizing and providing the best to their ability and availability. The food was near to home made quality, beds were clean, room servcice was very fast and amenities are very well maintained. Staff and Management is generous in accomodating our ad-hoc needs and as a general observation Bhutanesse people will not say NO unless they really have to! Thank you!

Very nice hotel! A little off-center, far from the bustle of the city center, even though Thimphu remains a quiet city;). The rooms are spacious. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. I recommend this hotel for your visit to Thimphu.

It is a very beautiful , full of character hotel. Rooms are huge and very comfortable. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Located close to town. Food is good enough to eat. We came here to see the country so food doesn't bother me at all. Just a short stay so didn't have a chance to check the pool.

Pros: Room and food rates are reasonable compared to Taj Tashi and Druk Hotel. Service is also good. Internet/Wi-fi is strong inside the rooms and complimentary 24/7.
Cons: There's no air conditioning or electric fans in the room or even upon request, but it was not an issue during my visit as it was beginning to get cold. Shower takes a bit of time though to warm up (five minutes at least). There's no daily complimentary water. There's a few meters of walking distance is you want to get a taxi ride, and the road is not fully paved. Stray dogs barking at night and sometimes running after passersby can be a concern if not controlled.
Overall, despite the cons, which can be non issues, the hotel is still a good alternative to the more pricey ones at the main street in Thimpu.
