Twenty minutes from Bhutan’s capital city, you’ll find The Postcard Dewa. Nestled in a forest, this Bhutanese mountain hideout is just close enough to take in the city of Thimphu, but far enough from the bustle. With no more than 15 luxurious rooms, the hotel is the perfect place to wind down in the lap of nature and enjoy pristine views of the Khasadrapchu valley and Wang Chhu River. All of the hotel's 13 rooms and two luxury suites are set against the backdrop of dramatic mountain vistas. Ranging from 995 sq ft to 2,100 sq ft the rooms are generously spaced. Rich in natural light and traditional details, they even come with their own private sit-outs from which to take in the surrounds. The Dewa Suite, our most impressive yet, even offers a private garden, terrace and an intimate dining gazebo — perfect for precious time with the family. The spread at The Postcard Dewa is deeply influenced by Bhutan’s culinary heritage. The menu features traditional dishes as well as a fine selection of locally-brewed beers and spirits. All of which can be enjoyed al-fresco or in the hotel’s dining room. The Postcard Dewa’s idyllic mountain surrounds make it the perfect place to slow down with meditation and yoga. Therapies at the spa include treatments that borrow from traditional Bhutanese practices like a hot stone bath, that’s perfect for sore muscles. Fitness conscious guests can also enjoy a workout in the gym or a relaxing swim in the temperature-controlled swimming pool. Mountains and monasteries make up much of the travel itinerary here. Take the lush hiking trails to ancient Buddhist temples or tour the capital city’s many sacred sites and colorful market stalls.

The beautiful Postcard Dewa, Thimphu, exudes luxury in its purest form. From bespoke services to the carefully crafted dishes by chef Harsh, were experiences that my husband and I were not expecting (I must admit). We realised pretty soon that we were heading for two days of care and pampering.

We were very warmly ushered into the hotel with an offering of their esteemed Khada and soothing welcome drinks. We were then taken to our room, overlooking the serene valley.

Built from the ruins of an ancient monastery, the interiors of Postcard Dewa is minimalistic, rustic yet refined. You will notice artifacts from the monastery adorning corners and walls of the immensely spacious reception area, bar, restaurant and other parts of the hotel. The walls of the rooms and corridors showcase handpaintings of mountains, birds, windows and so on.

Chef Harsh offered his signature dishes, including a juicy chicken roulade, papdi chaat, dal makhani with mint and ajwain lachcha parathas and panfried noodles. His chilki-infused Ara cocktail and pina colada with a twist were the perfect drink to accompany our dishes.

The hotel is around 20 mintues away from the Thimphu and about an hour and 10 minutesaway from Paro, making it perfect for couples looking for a quiet, private, romantic time. We spent time swimming in their heated pool which offers expansive vistas of the blue sky and the valley. We enjoyed a good swim, complete with drinks by the pool. There are thoughtfully spa, sauna and hot stone bath services for visitors to rejuvenate themselves as well. There is facilities for archery and traditional Khuru as well on its premises as well.

But what tops it all is the exceptionally gracious, courteous and amicable staff who made us feel at home. 💜

We were in the most warm hospitality and experienced the magical Bhutan beginning with this beautiful property called the postcard thimpu. Nothing could have matched the way they took care of us above and beyond !
Right from the beginning soon after booking our stay the general manager TJ personally followed up about our program and arrival etc to make sure we get all what we need when we arrive !
We got the most warm Bhutanese welcome by the entire hotel staff when we arrived . And the rooms were ready heated so we feel comfortable and so beautiful and aesthetically appealing having every Bhutanese glimpse in the decor . The welcome dessert was an added delight.
The front office especially Rashi and roopa staff was always around to ask if we need anythin anytime which was very touching .
To be highlighted is the culinary experience which took us on a Bhutanese culture by chef harsh was magical . Chef harsh made sure we have a literal food coma throughout our trip!
From local cuisine to gujarati khamani this guy had magic in his hands to create the most delectable food and present it like an art on the plate !
Tj the general manager is such a kind and generous person to make sure we have nothing to worry and have the most memorable times while at the postcard ! From organizing a surprise private picnic experience by the river to the morning hike he took us to ! I have no words to describe the best.
My heartfelt thanks to the entire postcard dewa team for being so nice to us and creating a magnificent memorable and most delightful stay in thimpu.
Do not go anywhere when travelling to thimpu to experience the ultimate hospitality words can’t describe .
Our special mention about the beautiful most well behave PAW-GANG who gave us a very kind company for our walks and sitting in the sun!
Big big thanks 🙏🙏 there’s no chouce other than postcard when in thinpu and I can’t wait to be back again soon to make more memories here

Had the most memorable vacation at The Postcard hotel. beautiful property with amazing views, the warm and thoughtful service and sumptuous food made it in unforgettable experience.

The team at postcard goes out of their way to make you feel at home and help you with everything from your time at the hotel and outside it. TJ ensured each day was planned per our choice . Karun, Subir and rest of chef Harsh’s team were feeding us great drinks and food all the time. Mr K was the most talented and fun person to drive us around and our guide Khandu was very helpful. The trek led by Amir and accompanied by the 4 furry friends at the Postcard was lovely. The picnic by the river was beautifully organised. We enjoyed the spa and our stay at the premier suite. The trip to Tigers nest was organised with the smallest of details in mind and the hot stone bath after was a great idea. Our teenage daughter enjoyed the cooking class while we relished the dishes in the log house with her and chef’s live cooking. Big thanks to the entire team for your care and hospitality.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect vacation in Thimphu

Hi Manan, let me thank you and your superb team of hard working and smiling faces for making our stay at Postcard Deva truly memorable.
The surprises you had in store for us in our Anniversary will be cherished by both My wife and myself. The food was outstanding. Kudos to chef Mithun.
The cocktails and overall hospitality was remarkable.
Also we’d like to mention the wonderful care and effort taken by Yonten during all three days of our stay and those experiences and trips he made us take won’t be easy to forget.
Special thanks to you being the curator of our itenerary and for always being there whenever we needed you.
Would love to come back once again with our kids.
Now we know we have friends in Bhutan too.
Cheers and all the best
The room allowed to us was the Top of the line suite 101. It has heated flooring, separate heaters and amazing views. Location is away from the hustle bustle of the main city, just 20 min. That’s what you want when you visit Bhutan, Peace and alone time.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Postcard Dewa! The hotel is gorgeous with many historic Bhutanese architectural and textile pieces throughout. It feels much more like you are staying in a stately traditional home than a hotel. Indeed, when we arrived multiple staff members welcomed us “home”. our room was spacious and had a large private terrace overlooking the mountains; what a beautiful view to wake up to! The service the staff provided was both personal and professional with exceptional attention to detail. A highlight of our stay was a cooking class we took. We expected to create one dish with their chefs, but made 4! We had so much fun cooking & eating here! The outdoor terrace and the dining room were equally lovely places to have meals. The cozy bar was a quiet spot to have cocktails after a busy day of sightseeing. There is a great deal of construction going on in Thimphu so we were especially pleased with the location and quietness of The Postcard. Our stay was short but we really felt like the staff here were family at the end of our stay.

I visited the Postcard hotel with my two friends for a dinner. Although the choice of meals in the menu was rather limited, the chef came to us and said we can order anything we want and they will cook it for us. The beef steak was very tasty. The location of the hotel is remote and very peaceful, with a great on the valley with a river.

Wow. I was pretty blown away by the Postcard Dewa, I had high expectations but the calibre of service really exceeded them.

From arrival, you understand that Postcard is dedicated to providing exactly the experience that you want. Nothing is an inconvenience for the staff. A hilarious example of this was when my daughter requested English Breakfast tea in the morning, but this was misheard, and she got an off-the-menu full english breakfast instead! The fact this wasn't even on the menu was no problem for the staff at all.

Food in general was superb, fine dining that utilizes the best of local ingredients with a mixture of western and Asian influences. The dining room itself has a beauty atmosphere and was both cozy but at the same time showcases the incredible views available at the hotel.

The rooms are simply gorgeous, the nicest I stayed at in Bhutan, and filled with so many small touches that showed me management has thought deeply about the guest experience at Postcard Dewa. Complementary snacks and tricks; a tote bag you are encouraged to fill with toiletries; heated tiles; free wireless; lovely dressing gowns and slippers; beautiful murals on the walls, it just goes on and on.

The only niggle was that one of our rooms had a rather unpleasant smell coming from the drain in the bathroom - which was otherwise terrific. This could be investigated; the other room was fine.

Facilities wise there is a pool, sauna and steam room. I was a little cold for a swim, but my children had a great time. They also loved the four friendly hotel dogs that roam the grounds and are always up for a cuddle or a walk with you.

The Dewa has a beautiful walking trail from the hotel that takes you up the sides of the valley, I had a great morning strolling along with the hotel dogs happily galloping beside me.

We had a wonderful stay at Postcard Dewa, and I am very interested in staying at some of their other properties now as well.

Once you arrive at this property, you will be bowled over by it's pristine location, but soon you would realise, it is actually their exceptional service that takes it to a whole different level :) .
My family and I arrived here on my birthday and were surprised by a very warm and cordial reception.
Interestingly thereafter, Manan and team kept raising the bar high and kept exceeding my expectations.
Kudos to the staff (Sooraj, Mithun, Gita, team of chefs and all the others) to make my stay so magical.

To all the travelling enthusiastics, I would highly recommend this place for a blissful stay.

Thx again guys for all the wonderful memories..

The guest relations at Postcard Dewa is the best I’ve ever experienced! On the first day at the hotel I’d randomly mentioned wanting to take back the traditional Bhutanese Bow + Arrow and Bhutans form of outdoor dart (Khuru) as souvenirs if I found them in Thimpu.

The next day I got a call from Mr. TJ, the GM, about the bow and other items. He had checked with the Paro airport that the items would be allowed in luggage check-in, and if I wanted any help from the hotel to pick up the souvenirs and even have them pack it appropriately. Before check out I had a bow, 6 arrows, and 2 Khurus ready to fly out with me, very well packed. This attention to guests interests, even in matters which the hotel doesn’t have full control over, I was amazing!

Other attention to details like a surprise stuffed bunny for my daughter during turn down, a cooking session planned after discussions on our interest to try new cuisine, and the signature picnic by the Thimpu river since we like the outdoors are few of a lot of the things that we will never forget.

The food at Dewa is amazing! What added to the pallet experience is getting to walk around the upcoming vegetable garden and the existing green house- with Chef Harsh. He customized each meal in a way that both my wife and I, and our daughter who doesn’t like spicy food yet, had happy tummies.

Can’t sign off without having mentioned the lovely staff who took care of us with pure compassion.

The power of simplicity in Bhutan culture and the tasteful hospitality of Postcard will definitely bring us back.

Thank you again to the amazing team at Postcard Dewa!
