After a lot of research into 5*star hotels in Bhutan for our 10-day holiday, we settled specifically on Six Senses Paro.

As we didn’t want to have a packed with activities bucket-list trip, Six Senses Paro was the perfect choice. We planned this trip to Bhutan to combine relaxation and simply being present with cultural experiences.

From GM Roy through each team and member of staff we were treated with respect, understanding, consideration, attentiveness and simply excellent service. Our guides offered the same level of consideration and flexibility.

The lodge’s views and their vegetable gardens are impressive.

The design and spaciousness of the upper lodge suits enhanced our 10-day holiday at this location.

We highly recommend it and look forward to going back there.

It was one of the nicest hotel experience ever, on par with the best of the Amans that I have been to.

For this trip, we spent two nights each at Thimphu, Punakha and Paro. The food was all healthy but absolutely delicious at all lodges, and the spa was amazing at Thimphu and Punakha, and the one at Paro was a bit lacking relatively in terms of location and general amenities. In terms of the rooms, we prefer Thimphu and Punakha over Paro again, as there's a distinct lack of privacy since a lot of rooms are facing right at each other at Paro. For the units in the outer corners, they’re facing the public walkways.

We had the same guide Jigme and driver Namge throughout the week from the hotel and were both simply the most amazing human beings ever. Kind hearted, nice but also proper Buddhists who not only took great care of us, but also shared a lot of knowledge and wisdom as well as many many laughers throughout the journey. If you ever go there, I'd highly recommend to request for them.

Thimphu Six Senses was architecturally stunning, with great views from the room. It is a great introduction to the beautiful country of Bhutan. Must try the hot stone bath as it will help with altitude sickness and jetlag. They also have a Six Senses cafe which serves amazing food in the city centre, so you don't have to travel all the way back to the lodge in the middle of the day for lunch. We made the rookie mistake of not bringing swimwear here and sadly they don't sell it. So if you do come here remember to pack your swimming gear.

Service was the best at Punakha as Bima (F%B manager + acting GM) was simply an amazing person. She was lovely to chat with, went above and beyond and make sure every meal is customisable and we can dine wherever we want, basically we felt like we were at Aman. If Bima is there, just ask and follow her recommendations. The outdoor fireside dinner was simply unforgettable with absolutely delicious food and an gorgeous environment. This lodge was truly one of the highlight of our trip.

Paro - it isn't a bad lodge per se as we still very much enjoyed our stay. But we felt by comparison the room size, the room view and the spa was a bit of a let down. Probably got a bit spoiled by the previous two lodges. Otherwise, F&B, service were great and the decor was stunning as well.

Dear manutdcr7, Thank you for taking time to review Six Senses Bhutan and for choosing to stay for 6 nights with us across the three of our lodges. It is a great pleasure to know that you found the food delicious at all the lodges and the spa at Thimphu and Punakha. We have the best guides and drivers for our guests and it is a delight to know you were happy with them. Our services are very flexible and it is only to help our guests to be able to make the best of memories to take back home. Thank you for recommending the hot stone bath (It is called "Dotsho" in our national language) and it is also beneficial for ailments such as arthritis, hypertension, joint pain, stomach disorders and other deep-set aches. We will share your wonderful feedback with the team as it will keep them motivated to keep learning. We look forward to welcoming you in the near future. Just got back from an unbelievable 7 nights stay at Six Senses Paro, Thimphu, Punakha. I am cross posting for Paro and Punakha. I booked directly through Six Senses via email and they arranged a complete and customized itinerary which included all lodge stays, food, transfers, visas, guide/driver. Our guide, Chencho and driver, Jigme, were with us the entire time and were superb, extremely knowledgeable and seeing to all our needs. The food was amazing and they would customize to your taste. A wonderful balance of activity and culture. The customer service was across the board top of the line.

We have just left Bhutan after 7 nights staying in Thimphu, Punnakha and Paro. It was an amazing experience and Six Senses really delivered. We booked their 6 night package and added an extra because of flights.
The photos really do not do the places justice. They are stunning.
All the lodges were beautiful in their own way, really making the most architecturally of their locations and each with a slightly different vibe. The rooms in Thimphu and Punnakha are huge with really lovely sitting areas and huge balconies while the Paro lodge has no balcony but a wonderful communal outdoor space.
The food, cocktails and service are great everywhere with fantastic choice and people who cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable and memorable. It is expensive but totally worth it, really a lifetime memorable experience.
I tried all 3 spas and all fabulous although special mention has to go to the yoga room at Paro and the fabulous teacher.
Heartfelt thanks to all the amazing team at all 3 lodges. We enjoyed your company as well as the service.
While all the staff are wonderful I really do have to mention our guide, Choki ( beautifully supported by our driver Wangdu).
Choki really made our trip, we saw so much and learnt so much while never feeling rushed or hassled. She really worked to understand what we were most interested in and really delivered. Whether It was Buddhism, history, culture, hiking to Tigers Nest or setting up the perfect picnic spot she was so multi skilled and superb.

Finally, if you decide that six senses is not for you, then maybe some other way of seeing Bhutan? It’s incredible

My husband and I spent 13 nights in total over all 5 Six Senses lodges in Bhutan. I really think this is one of the most special trips we have ever taken (if not the most special), and while much of that is attributable to the majesty of the country itself, Six Senses undoubtedly elevated our experience on so many fronts. It started with the ease of dealing with, and attention to detail paid by, the reservation team--Claudine, Karma and Antriksh, who were all so responsive and helpful in making the preparations for the trip. I have a severe nut allergy which I was concerned about, but it was clear at each lodge that the reservations team had communicated this to the staff and everyone was very attune to the issue. Our guide, Younten, and driver, Deepak, were fantastic. Younten was a wealth of knowledge and a great navigator for our hikes, and we always felt safe driving around with Deepak at the wheel. We enjoyed all of the activities that the reservations team and Younten suggested/put together for us, and it was really nice to do minimal research on activities ourselves (which I usually spend so much time on prior to a trip). We really enjoyed the healthy food and drinks that were plentiful at the lodges, and loved the fact that the lodges grow herbs and vegetables that they incorporate into their menus. The attention to detail given by the staff at all lodges is unparalleled, which I think is combination of the Six Senses brand but also the extremely hospitable culture that we experienced throughout Bhutan. If you are considering this journey but don't have the time to do all 5 lodges, I don't think it's necessary, I would still say go and experience what you can, but, if you have the time, it was very special to visit all 5 locations. Do not hesitate to book this trip with Six Senses.

Six Senses Thimphu, like the others, is even more stunning in photos, with immaculate, spacious accommodations perched high on the mountain with a clear view of the Golden Buddha. I was welcomed by the countrywide property manager and he was generous enough to upgrade me to a one-bedroom villa, with a welcome spread of desserts, snacks, and sangria.

Some things that made this place stand out from the others was the cocktail program-- each property had a different menu/theme and this one had elements of fire, all of the drinks were really well crafted. The pastry chef was on another level. Also, my GEM (Guest Experience Maker) Richen was exceptionally friendly and seemed to always magically appear at the perfect moment.

Upon leaving to the airport at 5:00am, the lodge manager presented me with a large, handmade painting to commemorate me being the first guest to visit all five Six Senses properties in Bhutan. It was a beautiful gesture that topped off an extraordinary 11 nights.

I will never forget my experience here and look forward to seeing everyone again next time.

My husband and I just returned from 10 days at the Six Senses lodges in Bhutan. Luxury in the clouds-everywhere at every lodge. We can't find ANYTHING negative to say. The Bhutanese people are so nice, kind, intelligent in every way, funny, so proud and respectful of everyone and everything. It is truly the land of happiness. We were provided with a brilliant Bhutanese guide and driver.Nima and Rinchin. We were in the best hands possible immersing ourselves in the culture and environment.Even though our days were thoroughly planned for us, they were incredibly flexible when we needed a break from seeing all of the wonderful temples, museums, festivals etc ,they created fun archery contests and picnic lunches provide by the lodges.Archery is the national sport and this is much harder than the USA version. We have made friends for life with them. Six Senses bends over backwards to make your experience something you will never forget. The food is amazing and beautifully presented. This should definitely be on your bucket list.

10 days in Bhutan with Six Senses were awesome.
We stayed at three properties around the country (Thimphu, Punakha and Paro) and they were at the highest possible standard.
Once you book with Six Senses Bhutan, you get an all inclusive package: accomodation, meals, transportation and guided tours on a private basis.
The three hotels are exceptionally beautiful, with gracefully decorated rooms and cozy common areas.
Dining at all properties was excellent and the tour guide didn’t disappoint.
A flawless hospitality, well worth its premium price.
Can’t think of a better option in Bhutan

What an experience ! Six senses had planned my whole stay from visa application, air ticket until I left the country. It was hassle free and the lounge at Paro is just pure stunning. The tour guide Sonum and driver Singya were truly amazing and they were accompanied me by taking me to tours climbing the Tiger’s nest and visited all the religious sites. The lounge manager Roy is a humble and humorous guy. It was great to have him accompanying me as I was a solo traveler. Overall, a great and lovely experience with Six Senses! Strongly recommend!

WWhat is the weather like end of March early April?
Answer from FarAway48357188237
It is quite difficult to accurately state the general climate of Bhutan temperature in March 2020, due to its variations in altitude and seasons. Usually, the time from June to September sees rainfall in Bhutan. The temperature in South Bhutan especially becomes hot and humid. The temperature of Bhutan in March in the day can go up to 25 degrees and fall to 15 degrees at night sometimes. The span from mid-September to end of November sees autumn. One can spot snowy peaks far away at higher altitudes. The period from late November to early March is coldest.
