I'm usually a 5-star hotel guy, but this was a trip as an NGO. I led a group of volunteers, and we needed lower priced accommodations. We stayed at the Bhutan Suites for about 10 days, and it was a real surprise. Comfortable, efficient, good food, nice atmosphere, great location, responsive service - all good. The owner is often on-sight, and extremely attentive. And, it's usually much quieter at night than the downtown hotels, which have an all-night chorus or barking dogs. Our meal hours were often outside the norm, and the staff adjusted their schedule to suit our needs - really great. The hotel was originally designed for long-term stays, so the rooms all have living rooms and kitchens. It might not be the most elegant hotel in town, but I would definitely say here again.

The Bhutan Suites is a simple yet lovely place to stay with a homely feel. The room was very big for two person. The living room comes with a kitchen with a fridge, water boiler and some utensils. The bathroom had a seperate shower and bathtub in good working condition. Cleanliness is certainly not an issue during our stay. Although at night you get to hear dogs barking, thats normal in Bhutan. Not much of an issue for us. Comfortable bed for a good night rest and complimentary Wi-Fi in the room. Bhutan Suites had an all vegetarian restaurant for breakfast. Simple, delicious organic food served, Overall an enjoyable place highly recommend to stay.

This is quite a nice property with large bedroom and shower and kitchen and dining area. It is clean and the beds are comfortable. Our deal was all inclusive and we found the food very sparse. For example, on the table there was tiny serves of butter and jam for three slices of toast. All servings were meager. The staff are very young and it seems management are intent on keeping costs low. It is convenient and in a nice part of town. The real downside are the dogs. I believe they are worse in the town which is full of stray dogs. There were 9 in our area that slept all day, but once the sun went down barked til dawn. Fortunately we travel a lot and always take ear plugs. If you travel to Thimphu, earplugs are an absolute necessity. Bhutan is young in tourism by world standards and tourism is controlled by the government. Maybe some western trainers wouldn't be out of place for the hotel industry. We did enjoy our stay. One thing that is a stand out is that major hotels in Bhutan do not charge for WiFi. Take note Sydney, New York, Delhi, Katmandu, and other major cities.

I must say, I had some expectations of the hotel before we arrived (as this was an upgrade from the standard 3-star local hotel through the tour agency) and although the room itself was very spacious, it was a little bit more basic than I expected. It was also located a bit away from Thimphu town and you will need to take a taxi or get your driver to send you to Thimphu town if you want to spend sometime there in the evening. It was actually for this reason that I had booked this hotel as I had read from other hotel reviews located in town that barking dogs are common at night and I'm a light sleeper. Unfortunately, this problem presented itself at Bhutan Suites as well. I understand these are stray dogs and the Bhutanese can't really do much about it, so I guess I didn't stay far away enough from the town! So, if you are like me, a light sleeper, ear plugs are a must in Bhutan!
As mentioned, the room was very spacious. It had a mini kitchenette, a spacious living room and spacious bathroom and bedroom. We had a very nice view of Thimphu valley from our room as the hotel is located slightly up a small hill. The room does have basic bathroom amenities and satellite TV channels to help you stay connected with the rest of the world.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and in my opinion, the breakfast was better than the dinners they served. Just a note to readers, their restaurant does not serve meat and we only realized this after our first dinner there and took a more detailed review of their menu. They do serve eggs, but that's about the only "meat" dish they have.
Service staff and the front desk were generally friendly and competent, and most of them speak English. I really wouldn't consider them boutique by international standards, but comparing to some of the local establishments, they are above average.

Our suite consisted of two clean rooms, a kitchen/living area and a very large bedroom with ensuite. The sink area was a little small, but otherwise the bathroom was large with a tub and separate shower. We had a large balcony overlooking Thimpu. The restaurant provided nothing but vegetarian meals. As stated in the title, this hotel has the only elevator in Bhutan. Thimpu city center is about 30 minutes downhill from the hotel. Bring earplugs as the dogs bark all night long.

The B.S have very large spacious bedrooms and living rooms. The bathrooms and bedrooms are of very good standard. The only down side to the B.S is that they are over priced for Thimphu. (Expect to pay around $60 around 2700 local currency+ taxes+service charge).
The local of the Suites is relatively poor, they are miles aways from the centre of Thimphu, were all the restaurants are located. I stayed here for one night, before relocating to P.P. in the town centre and managed to get a 40% discount (1800 local currency) and had simillar ammenities to the BS. (This was in the high season).

I stay here each and every time I come to Thimphu for business (so far 3 times). The rooms are huge and comfortable. You can adjust the heat in your room so as not to feel the winter cold. The food is above average, though served rather slow (this is not a Bhutan Suites phenomenon but rather standard in Bhutan, I have found). Free internet, which is pretty fast. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Just wanted to leave a quick note to praise the vegetarian food in the restaurant. Fantastic, best we had in the country! Good selection of dishes and the restaurant was very clean, Bhutanese style yet modern.

Having just come from another hotel in the middle of Thimphu town, we were quite taken aback by the Bhutan suites. It's located on a hillside overlooking Thimphu, with a superb view from the rooms. It's near town and yet quiet.
The rooms are oustanding, much better quality then we expected. Windows are double-glazed, the bed is soft and comfy, and the whole place is so spacious and clean and neat! It felt like a holiday resort for which we'd expect to pay a lot more. Cavernous bathroom, spacious bedroom and spacious living area and kitchen.
It's quiet at night and the service at the restaurant below is excellent - home-made scones for tea and home-made muffins for breakfast! There's a lounge, and a bar/sitting room for drinks before dinner.
The decor is in light wood, and the staff are discreet. This was a real gem of a find!
