Bhutan Suites was our first stop on a 13 day tour of Bhutan. We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed it.
The room was clean & comfortable with a small kitchenette with a fridge & stovetop (which we didn't use but would be handy for longer term stays), separate sitting area, a small dining table and a clean bathroom with a good hot shower. Underfloor heating kept the room nice & cosy.
We dined at the restaurant (all vegetarian) both nights and they produced some of the more tasty local cuisine we sampled during our trip. Service was very friendly & attentive. Their desserts were also a step up from the standard offering at most subsequent hotels (watermelon) and we were served warm chocolate cake on the first evening and blueberry ice-cream on the second.
Breakfast started with a basket of warm, freshly baked banana muffins & scones with butter & jam - something we really enjoyed but didn't see anywhere else during the rest of our trip.
There is a small bar area for pre-dinner drinks and a separate lounge where you can read, play cards, listen to the local radio, order a cup of tea etc. WiFi was free and functioned well in the lounge or bar.
The hotel's location is a bit out of town so is quite peaceful (less dogs barking than in the centre of town) but maybe not the most handy location if you wish to visit local restaurants in the evening.

As a regular visitor to Bhutan, I had the pleasure of staying here for 10 days.
The hotel is newish and in the nicer side of Thimphu. Peaceful location with stunning views of Thimphu valley and sorrounding mountains. 5 mins drive away from the city centre, which makes it all the more pleasant, away from all the barking dogs!
From the moment I checked in, all staff were very friendly and attentive, in particular Kavita. No request was too much.
Rooms are new and large with a living room, kitchenette, large bedroom and bathroom. Rooms are very practical with lots of multi-plugs. The best feature of all is the underfloor heating which makes for a much more comfortable stay than normal radiator heaters found in other hotels across Thimphu.
The vegetarian restaurant in the hotels makes excellent meals, although it does close early (8pm).

Good quality accommodation - a suite rather than a room with wonderful views of the city from your balcony (ask for one). Excellent vegetarian food and well trained staff in the kitchen. As always very friendly. We stayed there twice during our 2 week trip to Bhutan and was the most comfortable of all places. One advantage of the out of the way location was no barking dogs. Walking distance to town and free wifi that worked.

My family spent 12 nights in Bhutan in April 2011. All in all it was a fantastic trip even for my 12-yrs old son and 10-yrs old daughter. Our first two nights was spent in Bhutan Suites, Thimphu. The accomodation was perfect. Rooms are great with a lot of space and separate living room. The location is a bit out of the center of the town, but with a 10-15 minutes walk anyone can be in the centrum of Thimphu.
The food was the best there for us in Bhutan. Although I like meat, with this kind of a vegetarian menu I can be a vegan for a long time. All the ingredients were fresh and real bio.
This bhutani trip was a fantastic experience for us, after 12 days we should remain in the country for additioanl weeks if that would have been possible.

We stayed in 6 hotels during our 17-day tour of Bhutan. This was easily the best. The room, a suite, was huge. It was clean and everything worked. It even had a kitchen. Hotel food across Bhutan is uniformly bland, but this place stood out. The vegetarian set menu was superb (by local standards), and I'm not even a vegetarian. You can tell that they really try to do a notch better than the rest. The service was great. Plus, they had a pleasant little lounge with free Internet. make no mistake, though, 5 stars in Bhutan is like 3 stars pretty much anywhere else in Asia. You don't come to this country for its amenities.

Great service and very accomadating staff. Vegetarian hotel, which was a draw back. Location and view is average. Call Sonam at ----- for reservations.
On our way back from Gangtey valley we stayed at Galinkha Hotel(-----) which is very modern, classy and around the city centre. Room tariff in both hotels is similar.( Around 80 dollars). You can get a 20% dicount if you book directly or in the off season.

This hotel is simply fantastic. The scenery is wonderful, the surrounding area is quiet, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are perfectly attentive and polite. My friend and I were in Thimphu for a research project - involving long days in the field and early morning starts - and Bhutan Suites was the perfect home base to return to for a good night's rest and a meal. Any and all issues or questions are immediately resolved by the knowledgeable and extraordinarily helpful staff. I have to admit I have not (nor would I be financially able) to try out any of the luxurious resorts spread across the hills of Thimphu, but I cannot imagine that Bhutan Suites does not stack up favorably. As the post below this one exclaims, Bhutan Suites is by far the best hotel in its range!

Located within walking distance of the main town, the hotel offers studio apartments that are ideal for shirt-term and long tern stays. Bhutan Suites also has a lovely cafe/restaurant that serves simple, but good quality vegetarian dishes and a freshly brewed coffee. A small balcony allows diners to enjoy fresh air and views the mountains. The staff are efficient and friendly and the hotel is spotlessly clean.

Bhutan Suites is one of my favorite hotels that I have stayed in Bhutan. First of all, it is in a great location; close to the center of town (a nice walk or 5 minute taxi ride) but away from the busy/loud/hectic downtown area that many other hotels are in. There are a couple of shops where you can shop that are basically at the end of the hotel driveway so you don't even need to go into downtown every day unless you want to. The most unique thing about his hotel is that, unlike other places that call themselves "suites", this one actually is. The rooms have a small kitchen so you can cook for yourself if you choose to for convenience or to save money. Also, there is a separate sitting room from the bedroom so if you want to have people over for a drink or meal, it is more like an apartment than a hotel room. Another nice thing is they have bathtubs (big ones too!) which is somewhat unusual in Bhutan. They also have a good amount of parking in case you have a car. The restaurant is quite nice with good food, but also there is a small coffee shop and bar where you can go for a drink, pastry, latte, etc...Finally, the staff is incredibly nice. The entire place is extremely clean and the wifi is super fast and reliable. There is central heating and a/c (which was fantastic). You will not regret staying here. The extra cost compared to other places is well worth it.

This was the highlight of my stay in Bhutan. The hotel has very good heating in winter. They have an elevator which is not common in Bhutan. It was useful for carrying luggage. The views from my room were outstanding.
. They arranged a car for me to go around for a few days. The taxi driver also helped me to get visa extension and route permit in the Thimphu immigration office.
The hotel staff provided tips on where to go in Thimphu. They provided good service at every interaction with a smile.
The restaurant staff and food was very good. The Emma Datsi in the restaurant was the best I had in Bhutan.
I recommend the Changhankha lakhang which is near the hotel. It is a old temple and is amazing at night with the lights.
Overall, I like to thank the hotel and hotel staff for making my stay pleasant.
