Detailed Reviews
Bhutan has been on our bucket list for a very long time and at long last we could make it with a group of very close friends. We reached Thimphu from Phuentsholing by road, which was quite a long drive and at times bumpy. The hotel reception was pretty jammed with a lot of people but we were ushered to the sofas and chairs in the lobby where we completed all check-in formalities. Front Office staff were all very courteous. The room was functional but very clean and fairly modern. Dinner at the hotel was a part of our tour package, therefore, we could taste and relish various local and Indian delicacies over our two nights stay. The location is absolutely central and as a result we could take a walk in the evening for shopping around the area after our days city sightseeing. All in all, it was a highly enjoyable experience!

Our recent trip to Bhutan for SARCO event.
We stayed at Dusit Hotel in Thimphu which is in the main town. One of the most luxurious city hotel at very reasonable rate. The rooms were quiet, warm and comfortable. Sound insulated is what the manager there said and yes it is. Foods were just finger licking and the staffs with their services are not even questionable, but then praise. We enjoyed every bit of our 4 nights stay.
Our special thanks to Mr. Yugel, the sales manager at Dusit Hotel, who took such good care of us the entire time. He even came to receive us at the airport regardless of Sunday which was his weekend holiday and also our different flight timings must have kept him waiting from morning till evening for our flights to land. Some of us were in the morning flights and some in the evening.
Mr. Yugel came to assist us personally in our every need. Our event hall set up was unbelievably beautiful in high standard. He was quick in arranging everything that we needed and which were of last minute requests. Sorry for that Yugel.
He even became our guide on the last day and walked us through the town till the shopping craft bazzar. He also treated us with the local foods at that street. The foods were so good that we actually wanted the same foods to be delivered for our dinner at the hotel too. Unfortunately, they couldn’t as the sellers were selling the foods on foot carrying on their back in their heavy bags and stays away from town area. And Yugel told us that, those sellers (all women) make living by doing such clean business. He said that he usually eat from such on-foot sellers as that will help them to earn even if it is little. I couldn’t stop admiring his kind gestures to support those sellers.
His hospitality gestures, his charming and deceiving smiles, and his down to earth personalities made us promise him that we will choose to stay and host our events at the same hotel every time it happens in Bhutan as long as he is there.
And I recommend the visitors visiting Bhutan to stay in Dusit Hotel for the best experience. Try reaching out to him for the queries.
Thank you Yugel & Team of Dusit Hotel.

An official business with the Indian Embassy at Thimphu brought me to the Kingdom of Happiness in January 2020. A colleague of mine and I were booked in the Hotel DusitD2 Yarkay – we chose the hotel from various options provided by the company’s travel agent based on its rank #1 among 45 hotels in Thimphu as per the Trip Advisor and a competitive pricing. And we were bang on! We had spent two nights at the hotel and I must say it was quite pleasurable indeed.
We were allotted two rooms on the fourth floor – the room was a large sized one with two windows. One window opened up to the distant valley and one could watch the sun rising above the hills to spread all its warmth on the small and sleepy Thimphu. The room had quite decent interiors with a large King size bed and a painting of two partridges on the wall. The furniture was adequate and comfortable, the wardrobe was wide and provided with a digital safe and the linens were of the top order. The room had tea/coffee making facility with all the provisions, bathroom slippers and two soft bathrobes. The toilet was impeccably clean and had separate sections for the bath and latrine areas with a largish wash basin in between. The sanitary fixtures and fittings were all modern and functional.
The hotel had a handful of guests during the winter, not a favoured season for Bhutan by many tourists. So the hotel had stopped serving buffet breakfast and we were asked to order à la carte instead in the hotel’s restaurant, christened as Soi 8. In the absence of any Indian chef in the restaurant, we could not try our luck with puri-sabji or idli-dosa and had to stick to sautéed vegetables, boiled eggs or omelette, toasted breads, fruits etc. We did try the famed Bhutanese style chicken stew, Jasha Maroo with breads once for dinner at the restaurant – the dish tasted pretty well for our palates.
DusitD2 will score very high for their staffs – extremely courteous, helpful and always attending to us with their smiling faces. It was located in the most central part of Thimphu and one can easily spot many eateries, shops for daily needs etc. and the downtown was a small walk away. The hotel can be pure delight both for the discerning tourists and business travellers.

Great location and exceptional service make Yarkey a terrific choice for travelers to Thimphu. Right across Le Meridien (but not those rates!), this is a smart choice for visitors. There is decent breakfast, room sizes are good, and the staff are exceptional. They went out of the way to organise a table fan for me in the room, and prepared breakfast for us an hour earlier than normal as we were heading out early. There is also a lovely area on the 6th floor, Skygarden (if I recall correctly) which was a convenient place to work/ have meetings and then have drinks/a meal.

With much excitement, I found dusitd2 with unique hospitality, amazing rooms, fast services, and has amazing taste of food and other foods. When we place orders out of menu, they never say no to the costumers and always have alternatives.
In this pandemic dusitd2 is finding lot of alternative to satisfy the costumers by arranging Sunday brunch, happy hours and others. I always thank GM and staff of dusitd2 for making me at home away from 🏠 home.

We stayed in Dusit for two nights. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The receptionist greeted us with the most welcoming smiles every time they saw us and they always tried their best to cater our needs.
The service at the restaurant was outstanding. One of the waitresses, Tara allowed us to order customized food that fit our taste even it’s not on the menu. As my parents were not used to eating Indian and the local food, Tara helped us ask the chef to make us pasta with fresh catch which was so good and she also recommended dishes which might suit our taste. We all had a great dinner.
