The hotel staff is very well behaved and nice. They will always try to accommodate all requests. One of the best hotels in Thimpu.
My room is very spacious and it includes all the modern facilities such as Hairdryer, Safe, 24 hours hot water, Room Heater, 43-inch LCD TV, Good wifi Connection.
The room is also very neat and clean. The view from the room is superb. Totally recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

We stayed for three nights 26.12.2019 till 28.12.2019. Very nice Hotel, Good location, Spacious room,Well built and nicely decorated,room was nicely warmed by two separate warmers at the minus outside temperatures. Staffs were particularly to be appreciated-all friendly,helping and smiling.On 29.12.2019 we checked out of the Hotel and were about to start our return journey but our diesel engine car(XUV300) was not getting started.Manager Mr Geden Wangdi took his personal initiative and did everything it took to warm up the Engine to get our car started.We will be forever grateful to the staff and Mr Wangdi in particular. Thank you so much. The people of Bhutan we found were really nice and helping, all those present at the hotel at the time expressed their help at the moment and we are grateful to them too. Thank you Bhutan.

The hotel rooms on the top floor have high ceiling and provide a grandeur feeling. The hotel staff is more than cordial and nice. The food was great with options in veg and non-veg and way too cheap in comparison to a hotel of that status. A must place to stay in Thimpu.

The hotel is charming from the outside and the rooms are large and have lots of light. The constrution must have been done on the cheap side as the structure has thin walls and the windows don't quite fit together to close. The furniture was cheaply made and the worse for wear. And of course in all of Bhutan, you have to deal with the incessant, barking dogs all night, so bring ear plugs and put a white noise app on your tablet or cell phone. The restaurant food was fine, not exceptional, and the staff was nice. They did have espresso in the morning for an extra cost, which was a welcome treat. Thimphu is a nice town and very easy and pleasant to walk around in. There is an excellent craft market there.

Dear Sandy, Thank you for taking time to share your experience on your stay with us at City Hotel Thimphu, we would like to clarify that in Bhutan like all other countries, we have to follow construction rules and regulations and have to abide by it strictly, therefore the external walls of the building are of 250 mm as per the approved standard. We understand your concerns on the timber window frame where it must have been difficult to fit and close the windows properly in few rooms, lack of proper timber processing facilities in Bhutan and the extreme weather conditions attribute to this problem and we have been continuously checking and repairing in the rooms. The furniture in our hotel is all locally made since we really believe in promoting local enterprise and business, this is the first time any guest has complained on the furniture, in fact we have had many upcoming hotels visit our property to see the furniture and they have even sourced from the same supplier that have supplied to our hotel since they consider it to be of good quality especially in our local standard. With regard to the disturbance caused by the barking dogs, like you rightly mentioned this is the problem faced by not just Thimphu town but the whole of Bhutan. Overall we are happy to know that you had a pleasant stay. Thank you.

My wife and I are spending 5 months in Bhutan as part of an academic exchange program. Consequently, we have some experience living and traveling in this beautiful country. We recently spent a few days in Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city. City Hotel provided the comfort, privacy, convenience, and professional service we need at a modest (by Western standards) price. The room was spacious, nicely furnished, and quiet. The restaurant was pleasant and the food delicious, with its “spiciness” calibrated to Western tastes. And in every interaction with hotel staff, we were treated with the greatest respect and appreciation.

The hotel is near the centre of Thimphu. It's a thoroughly modern hotel. The rooms are large and well equipped. I'm not sure which grade rooms we had as we were on a guided tour and so didn't do the booking. When we were there it was very cold for those two nights and we were provided with an electric heater for the room. Unfortunately our large room was on a corner with two external walls full of glass and very high ceilings - the heater couldn't really manage to keep us warm. We had extra duvets too and only just managed to keep warm in bed. Other people in our group managed to be warm enough in their rooms but ours (504) was definitely cold.
That aside, the food was good and the location OK.

A very new property in the heart of Thimpu, centrally located with quick access to main tourist points. Quick check-in, friendly front office staff, very spacious rooms, free WiFi, fairly quick room service, very satisfying menu for breakfast and dinner made for a very satisfying stay . Definitely recommend.

Very centrally located hotel and accessible to all tourist spots. A very friendly front desk staff. Good rooms and a very good Wi-Fi. This 3 star hotel but as per my travel agent Nature Wing it is a 4 star hotel. Food is excellent and the service is superb. Actually they were the first ones who offered us Bhutanese dish Ema Datshi. Apart from the Bhutanese fish, Indian and Continental food was also available. Ema Datdhi is made from chillis and cheese. The Kitchen staff need special mention for taking care of the interests of each guest.

Excellent place, great rooms, fantastic personnel and managers. Well located too and the rooms are great. A very good choice for staying at Thimphu. The hotel has also a typical Bhutanese style that makes the stay even more agreable.

The City Hotel in Thimphu was an excellent location and had very comfortable rooms and amenities. I would certainly recommend it as a moderately priced hotel alternative in this Bhutan city. The beds were comfortable, the meals provided were quite good and location was an additional plus. If you plan your trip right you can schedule two nights in Thimphu before spending the next two nights in Paro if you are on a four-day tour.
