The location of the hotel is very convenient. Just 2 mins walking from local handicraft market, about 5 mins from main market and 5 mins from immigration office. Rooms are very well maintained, with all amenities and even a room heater(which is very much needed because temperatures are hovering around 0°C). Their restaurant is also nice serving tasty Indian and bhutanese cuisines. Service is also prompt and courteous. Overall, 5 stars for it and a big YES to this hotel for anyone visiting Thimphu!

On a recent visit to Thimphu, I had booked, online, at Hotel Bhutan. It is a relatively new hotel, started in 2016, a rather small hotel. Location is ideal, just below the Royal Textile Academy(RTA), It is in the less noisy part of town, but within easy distance of city centre and the markets. It has a small cafe, which serves meals ( rather limited menu, butnadequate). The rooms are small, but neatly designed.Rooms do not have wardrobes Bath room is small but fully equipped. Shower cubicle is small, might be a bit uncomfortable for a large person. If you have more than one bag, it could be a problem in the room.. For a family, room would be small.Service is good, they accept credit cards.Overall a very good hotel, at a nice locality, at a reasonable cost.

Travel in a group of 17 people, this is a small and cosy hotel. Nice, clean and comfortable with good water pressure for a good shower. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, it was just nice too. Nothing elaborate but just simple, mostly vegetables. Nice to have a cup of coffee and pastries sitting outside the cafe in a nice weather to chill..... what's not pleasant will be the room door... you just have to slam it to have it closed. If you don't, the door will not be closed entirely and that's how noisy that can be. We thought it's only our room door, but realise it happened to others too. So, put on your ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Also, the room has no AC so for those travel during summer, it can be quite stuffy in the room. We kept our windows opened. Overall, the stay was pleasant.

It is a neat and tidy place with and veg restaurant. The rooms are a bit small but are well kept. Bathroom are tiny but were very clean. The restaurant serves limited number of dishes and are good in taste but there are other options around. The biggest advantage for me personally was it's location, as it is located at 3 mins walking distance from thimphu immigration office where i needed to go for my route permit

Its in walkable distance from clock tower ! The rooms are truly 3* and maintained very well. Room has cozy beds, 32" lcd TV , coffee machine and a nice attached bathroom. Both side of the room has got a decent view. Though the rooms are no smoking, they have a common balcony as designated smoking area. I found the stuff to be very courteous and they are helpful to accommodate all your request. The restaurant is though have led down, though the breakfast here was excellent and people from other nearby hotels were coming here for the sumptuous buffet breakfast.

We had a very comfortable stay. Location is great. Very Peaceful. Market is not far..just 5 min walk and you will be near handicraft market. Although, Rooms are small but had all amenities. The best part of this hotel was the Veg Restaurant that was quite good. Had Aloo Tikki Chaat and it was delicious:) Very well behaved and Courteous staff. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, staff and food.

Hotel Bhutan was part of my tour package, situated a couple of minutes drive from city centre. My room was small - with the usual amenities (ie. safe, television, bathroom, toilet, heater). Service is generally hospitable and warm. There was a bit of a language barrier when it comes to conversing in English between certain hotel staff - most of the staff generally spoke decent functional English.
A point for improvement would be the cleanliness - towels had visible stains; mine had red stains over it.

Clean room. Small bathroom. Hot shower, but weak water pressure. Firm comfy bed.
It’s very close to the Textile Museum and also the market, so especially great location for souvenir shopping.
I had local dishes for dinner and it was delish. Everything was vegetarian but I really enjoyed it. Breakfast was also hearty. I had fried eggs, oatmeal, mixed fruit (apples, pears and bananas), juice and real coffee. Everything was made to order so the food was piping hot and not lukewarm.
Good stay. Would go back again...
