I LOVE this restaurant!!!! This place is a hidden gem in Kigali and one of the only Greek places left in Rwanda/Burundi. The owners are leftovers from when Greek merchants were prominent and plentiful in central Africa. The setting is the most stereotypical Greek kitsch you could imagine. There are columns, a wooden boat and bad wall murals. The ambiance is like walking into a private club that you went into by mistake. The patrons are out of central casting as are the employees. Sit outside and you are greeted by a lush garden, cool breezes and a view of the city that is to die for. Your waiter will be an overly attentive Congolese gent that tries too hard for a tip and earns it. The food is a welcome break and the bar is where shady deals happen. Go! They rent rooms too for long term stays. Several pilots that were doing some UN flights made their home there and found it ok. These were Ukrainian aviators and characters themselves. Did I mention that I love this place? It’s a nice restaurant, that’s hard to find and the food is acceptable. Take a date or a friend and have a glass of wine at the bar and dinner on the balcony. You won’t regret it and it’ll be a welcome break from brochettes and soggy chips.

I stayed here for a conference at the Kigali Convention Centre which is about 25 min walk or 5 min taxi away. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the manager very accommodating of requests I made. If you want the Hilton don't book here, if you want somewhere with character and reasonable value then do book here. There are mosi nets in the room and a swimming pool. The food is good too. There is free wifi but the signal varies depending on what room you're in so best to check on check in. Breakfast is good too; omlette, tea, bread, butter, fruit.

This hotel is obviously principally a venue for evening meals, weddings and larger gatherings. It has a huge restaurant with balcony eating overlooking Kigali, beautiful by night especially.
The menu is focused around Greek food (the owners are Greek descendants, long term Rwandans). The hosts and staff very hospitable and attentive, food is a pleasant change from the normal African menus and affordable!

The 7 or 8 en-suite rooms are downstairs, adjacent to the swimming pool, and are private. It is only fair to say the rooms need some attention/renovation, shower/bathroom improved (does work!). Hence the average rating which could with a little work easily be raised. However we had a good night sleep, and the price is really budget for Kigali and breakfast was delivered to the room.

We stayed here as a group of family and friends on a lengthy tour of East Africa and totally regretted the choice. Upon check in the advertised and agreed to price when we made the booking was suddenly disputed by the female co-owner despite the email confirmations.
The rooms are old and musty; the shower had some mould; no mosquito nets were provided and we only got the insecticide spray after continuous insistence on our part; the pool was not very clean; although bedding was clean, it was threadbare and worn out and a few cockroaches lurked about.
The only good thing was a great outdoor view.
We deliberately cut short our stay and with the assistance of our taxi driver we moved to an even cheaper but more modern guest house. The only reason we had initially picked this place was the availability of family rooms as we were travelling with young children and other places did not have such availability.
Stay here at your own peril and do not let anyone convince you otherwise.

Even my perception was somehow different; I was kindly surprised with all positive aspects of a specific business visit in Rwanda, Kigali this summer. Based on my poor knowledge about the country and its people, I was prepared to "survive" in a place with a turbulent and tragic past! Fortunately, I was welcomed at Kigali Airport by the driver of the Hotel Hellenique and picked up to the Hotel, passing a short and interesting drive. At the Hotel I was very welcomed, by the owner of the Hotel, offering to me the pleasure to join a short introduction and presentation of the venues (I enjoyed it very much as a Hospitality specialist). Thanks to dear God and past experience, I did not have any problem in communication with the owner as I speak fluently Greek. The "small" problem I had with my zero knowledge of Swahili, but it was easy to communicate with them in French. OK! It is not the first time I did not understand the language of locals; even I would like it so much. First thing first; welcome with Greek coffee and Tsipouro at their Veranda. The panoramic view and specific feeling about everything, above all the well known Greek hospitality and relaxed atmosphere, with hot African taste! Being in love with natural beauties I enjoyed the greenery of Africa, beyond any expectation. The Hotel offers very relaxed atmosphere, the management and the staff offer memorable kindness, care and hospitality. As a lover of gastronomy and good wine, even a fair gourmand, I wanted to try unknown local traditional food, but I preferred to enjoy well known Greek cuisine, above all mezedes, different specialties in small quantities, or a mixture of exotic food from Greek traditional cuisine. As a wine connoisseur I may order one of famous French, Spanish or South Africa wines, but i stayed at taste of Greek red wine, a perfect pairing with heavy menu. Even I stayed three days, I would stay more, I wish I could spend a short holiday in this excellent hotel, enjoying a good food, very relaxed accommodation and excellent atmosphere. And above all, the prices were very good, comparing with the great experiences offered in this Hotel and place.
