We were on our travels through Southern Africa and having stopped briefly in Joberg we were next in Windhoek for a night before setting off for the Etosha Pan the following day. This hotel did the trick for us, with ok sized rooms, and helpful staff. Price was good and location was ok although we were advised not to walk... More

The staffs are so helpful they have very good breakfast. Rooms are big enough for one person. Its just you cant walk to the city center because of the safety reasions, only bad thing is that for the hotel little bit away from the center.

The Protea Hotel Fürstenhof is my ‘home’ in Windhoek. That’s where I always feel happy and content. The Manager is great! He personally ensures that all the guests’ needs are met. The Front Office Manager (Tryphos) and her Reception staff are warm, friendly and accommodating. Room Service is phenomenal! Nothing has ever been too much trouble for them. All areas... More

Hotel wasn't too bad. In the city centre. Got one of the older rooms, with a balcony. First impressions were that the room was rather dark. And there was no working desk. More lighting would have been good. I Wasn't expecting much as this was my first trip to Africa. Room quite minimalist - no mini bar, no slippers, no... More

Old lift , dingy bathrooms, air conditioners that doesn't work - very disappointing and tried to use swimming pool but no longer working. Overall very sad hotel and was surprised to hear that it's branded as a Protea Marriott

The hotel has nice views over the city and is well located to walk to a major mall. How safe it is to walk there is another matter. The rooms are spacious and probably are due for a make over in the next few years. The staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast is pretty good. I liked the fact... More

Meh. I'm a fan of Protea Hotels, but the Furstenhof does not really live up to the standards. Nothing is wrong per se, but nothing is special either. It is well situated, close to the town center and it's easy to get onto the main roads. It's nice that you can speak Afrikaans and people will understand you. The restaurant... More

The hotel gave away our confirmed business booking of 4 rooms without informing us. This was done because a large tour group arrived. They tried to find another hotel for us but it was very sub standard Completely unacceptable. I will be taking this up with Protea hotel senior management.

I'm sure I've said this before, but at a Protea Hotel (80% of them... the other 20% are specialty hotels and quite something to stay at) you can expect a decent stay generally. I've seen recent reviews of this hotel such as "not Marriott standard" and "old" First off, Marriott purchased the Protea Hotel Group about 2 years ago... Protea... More
