Rivendell boasts nice rooms, a pleasant setting, friendly staff and well-working wifi close to central Windhoek. The breakfast system (you have to order your eggs the night before) is a bit awkward, but I can fully recommend staying here.

A bit out of the way. My room was cosy with self catering facilities. The black cat was a real character and probably the most friendly person there. Dosent quite live up to the Lord of the Rings.....dosent have that african friendliness you find in a locally run establishment.

Friendly, helpful staff, good location, communal atmosphere, nice pool and clean, tidy rooms are the pros, and I would definitely recommend it for someone on holiday, who is looking to interact with other travelers. For a business traveler though some aspects are inconvenient, such as having to get out of your car to open and close the driveway gate, no...

I stayed in this guesthouse one night before starting a self-drive safari around Namibia. My 3 friends and I stayed in 2 rooms--I was in a lower level room with a sliding glass door (which meant you had to pull the curtain for privacy). The room was pretty ragged and the furnishings not the nicest. There was a strange musty...

Great place + great staff + great value = happy customer that has/will be returning many times. I have stayed at Rivendell on three occasions now and I have left smiling each time. Comfortable beds, very friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Lounge area has many interesting books and magazines especially about Namibia. Within walking distance of Wernhill Mall. Fridge is...

As a tourist one stays in windhoek on one's way to … So did we. Rivendell is not in the very centre of the town but (by light) on walking distance to the center of town. Personnel is nice and very friendly, rooms are around a nice court (and swimmingpool). Rooms themselves are not super (and no air-conditioning). We would...

Many thanks for your review, and we're very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. Air conditioning is something that we are thinking of for the future, we probably need to upgrade our electrical system first so that is a medium term plan. We hope to welcome you back the nest time you are in Windhoek! All...

I've stayed at Rivendell for extended periods of time for the past 3 years. Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely grounds and a good location. The self-use kitchen is also a nice addition for those staying for longer periods who don't want to eat out every night. I will be staying again for sure.

I spent with my two kids, two nights here before to leave Namibia. Our room was outside of the house and just when we enter to the room the bed sheets were clean but really old, the pillows so used and flat. They just have one A/C in the kitchen room and in the master room. They renewed the bathroom...

Many thanks for your review and I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. I have spoken to the manager on duty at the time you stayed with us and she has checked the pillows and sheets in the flat you stayed in, she thinks they are all fine but we will double...

Professional and friendly stuff. This place is very well organized! Everything is clean and tidy. Great self catering kitchen, which is always clean. The rooms are very nice. This place is great for relaxing. I have met people at this place who are in Windhoek for business or holiday... Everybody was very happy to stay there.

I spent only one night and enjoyed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Having to share the bathroom is a bit of a bother, but not a big issue for men. I guess solo female travellers may be uneasy with it. Location is good, but do not walk alone at night, it is not a safe area

Thanks so much for your lovely review! I'm very pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We also have en-suite rooms which are more expensive than the ones with the shared bathroom facilities, so those would be better for people who would prefer not to share. Thanks again and best wishes from the Rivendell team.
