What used to be the best hotel in Moazambique, a classy, stylish hotel, has now been downgraded following its acquisition by the Serena group. Beautiful antique furniture has been replaced by cheap looking stuff and even the view that from the main hall extended all the way to the sea has now been obscured. what a pity!

The hotel is a landmark in Maputo. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, it was recently acquired by the Serena Group and renovated. Unfortunately, it lost some of its colonial characteristics in the process. It remains however a majestic building overlooking a garden and a pool, with the Indian Ocean in the background. It offers various services like...

Maputo is not a great city, but has this beautiful hotel, an historic monument and a legacy of the portuguese colony. The rooms are big and elegant, the swimming pool is great with an incredible view of the bay. The restaurant is good, although not at the level of the hotel. The personal is friendly.

A beautiful city and gorgeous hotel right in the heart of Maputo. Set high on the cliff overlooking the Bay of Maputo it's absolutely breathtaking to see. The staff and hotel are word class. A room with a view is so worth it so try book that option. Delicious fun cocktail menu as well and amazing sushi at the restaurant!!...

I couldn't take enough pictures of this hotel! The grounds were excellent, the rooms well kept, and the food was very good (there was a big buffet that served a little of everything, even for a vegetarian like me)

Great service and people! Went over and beyond to add special touches to make our honeymoon feel extra special! Looked after our bags when we left town to visit a Benguerra Island. Nothing was too much of a hassle! Will return.

Stayed in the main hotel in room overlooking pool for two nights Very high end finishing. In the past more than twenty years ago actually lived at this hotel for over a year waiting for our property there to be built. In those days the hotel hadn't been renovated and we had a room where we had views of the...

Had a fantastic few days at the Polana...did a few good tours of Maputo, don't miss Eiffel Iron house! Went into the jungle to a converted aircraft hanger with a huge chained brass clam...the clam was opened to reveal a Dj box and several thousand revellers emerged from the bush, great night! Hotel has a very good gym in the...

As part of a tour of South Africa, Malawi and now Mozambique, to stay at the Poland Serena has been a real joy. A surprise upgrade to an executive suite was lovely and we cannot fault anything - the food in the fine dining restaurant lived up to its title and the facilities are exceptional. But above all the staff...

Of the three hotels I have stayed at in Maputo this is my favourite. Good staff in a great location. The pool area is really nice. You can unwind after a days work or hang around the pool all day. Rooms are not perfect for business work. But they work. Good turn down service. Breakfast is done to high standard...
