Once again, we were given a room which was not the standard we’d paid for (not sure why this happens to us – or is it just hoteliers taking a chance?) This being Malawi, don’t expect much. Standards are low by any measure. Room is pretty much devoid of any kind of amenity – no safe, no storage cupboards, etc....

Annies ‘Executive’ Lodge, Area 10, Lilongwe. I’m not on a personal crusade to raise the standards of hotels and lodges in Malawi, but I think it’s important to address expectations. The question this raises is what should the essential premises of our expectations be? Price must be a major factor in our deliberations; but what is relative here? Is it...

We decided to try out the Annie's flagship lodge in Lilongwe for a brief overnight stay. Situated in the oldest, upmarket neighbourhood in Lilongwe one is immediately greeted by the silence of affluence. Below are the review points: 1. The room is lovely, spacious and comfortable. However, there are some safety hazards to take note of if you are traveling...

Reserved 3 rooms for one night. Quiet, suburban setting with tranquil gardens. Rooms were adequate with plenty of storage space, separate bathroom. Manager was waiting for us when we arrived in the afternoon. Clean accommodations. Dinner served in cozy dining room. Breakfast was quick and tasty. Pay with Visa or cash.

The room provided was a good size, clean and comfortable. They provided coffee and tea in the room and a refrigerator. Full breakfast was provided and it was adequate. Dinner was different, it took at least one hour for our meal to be prepared and we were the only clients in the restaurant.Since it took so long for prep, we...

Just had 1 night here pre flight home. A nice place to relax. My room was spacious and had cooking facilities if I had wanted to self cater. Staff were helpful. I had a tasty evening meal and a good breakfast before departure. The online booking system worked well. The Lodge is in a residential embassy area of Lilongwe and...

The Tripadvisor page says free Wifi, it is not! read the rest of the page carefully. The Wifi is paid for. A very expensive mediocre Lodge. Staff friendly. Food very average and takes an age to prepare. Breakfast very sparse, and always had to ask for real coffee- we were in the coffee belt for petes sake .
