Un piccolo angolo di Italia a circa 4 ore di auto da Bissau verso nord..dalla frontiera con il Senegal dista pochi chilometri, ma i 56 km di pista consigliano di viaggiare con una auto capace di sostenerli. Un luogo semplice, camere con ventilatore e doccia, luce dal generatore dalla sera.. non sul mare ma all'inizio del villaggio..provato almeno 5 volte anche con ospiti italiani in visita alla prima esperienza d'Africa..tutti felicissimi!
un luogo delizioso sia per la cucina, preparata da Fatima e Franco, sia per l'atmosfera..Fatima conosce bene la Guinea Bissau e può raccontare migliaia di storie.. da provare la pizza e le ostriche alla griglia la domenica a pranzo.. ottima la pasta e quando c'è la tipica focaccia ligure di Franco.. al mattino chiedere per il caffè italiano..
prezzo nella norma per Bissau, inferiore ai costi sulle isole e paragonibile con la vicina, in linea d'aria, Cap Skirring.. da scegliere per un fine settimana di relax sulla spiaggia deserta di Varela..

Awesome place run by Fatima and her husbond franco. There is no better place for star gazing and listening to the sounds of the tropics than this.

There is just one Aparthotel in Varela and it is the only place to find a restaurant: Chez Helene. It certainly is worth the bad road (unpaved 56 kilometer from Sao Domingo, it takes about 2 hours and you better have a good car). When you meet Fatima, the owner, you will relax and enjoy your stay. The rooms are small but quiet and clean. The shower and toilet are functioning and you will have light all night. Fatima has her own garden and she grows vegetables. She has a very skilled and helpful team, they speak serveral languages and they will fullfill your wishes if ever possible. The food is excellent, so even people from Bissau travel up to Varela just to enjoy this kitchen. You can walk to the natural sandy beach, about 1 kilometer through the village and the forest. There is no infrastructure at the beach, just you and the sea. It is marvelous!

I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the stay. It's very basic but scenic also. I ate here one night and the food was good, they also have decent beer. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach which is pretty amazing. Don't expect the ritz here and you won't be disappointed.

In Guinea Bissau per missione, più precisamente a canchungo e a cacheu. Assieme agli altri volontari abbiamo deciso in un week end di relax e scoperta del territorio, con una bella avventura anche in spiaggia (abbiamo scoperto che non funzionava il 4x4 sulla jeep). Il titolare è accogliente e siamo stati benissimo. Sicuramente torneremo!

I loved the all atmosphere of this hotel, lovely rooms, lovely food and service and the beach is quite nice. The village Varela is a bit abandoned but still a good place to stay a couple of days if you want to know the north of the country (savanne landscapes and beaches) and Senegal is just a few miles away.

Foram apenas dois dias, mas valeu pelo lugar, simples , sem luxos, que nos faz sentir em casa, a praia fica a minutos de carro...um passeio pela praia quase deserta, apenas pescadores e os seus coloridos barcos...certamente a repetir.
