As it is a new hotel, everything is OK. The double bed could be a bit bigger, as there is plenty of room in the room. The bathroom is also OK. I stood in the hotel twice, just one night each, and in the first one I got a tube in the bathroom, which was OK (but a bit dangerous as it is very high and you have to use a small ladder to get in and out of the tube), but in the second I just got a shower and the plate was really small and hard to move and have a confortable shower.
The other problem is that internet (wifi service) didn't work at all (not the first night nor the last one, ten days after !!!!).
The service is normal, not good not bad. They are young but don't speak languages, neither spanish nor english, so communication was a bit difficult.
At least, the air conditioner worked, which was great because of the hot weather in the capital.
The best: the situation. It is close to the financial area and embassies. The Spanish embassy is just beside the hotel.
The breakfast is served in the main floor and it is quite OK.
They also have a restaurant and a bakery at the terrace, which is always full of local people having they dinner.
I suppose that that is the standard of an African hotel, but I wouldn't give it a 4 star rate, because the service and the quality is more close to a 3 star.
But it is a clean place, which is great.
After having to leave my room unlocked while I ate breakfast, I inquired about fixing the lock again and the lock was replaced. Later that evenning, when returning from dinner at an outside restaurant, my key did not open my door and everything I had brought on the trip was locked inside. Hotel staff were unable to open the door or reach their maintenance person who fixed locks. While the front desk was trying to reach him again, I was somehow able to reopen the lock. I quickly packed everything I had (but unfortunately left a hat that was not returned to me), and as I was leaving the room, the Manager, came to my room, apologized, and stated that he would get me a new and better room and buy me dinner. I thanked him, told him that I had just eaten, but really just wanted to get moved to a room that I could lock or unlock, whether I was inside or out. He agreed to buy me dinner the following night.
In the new room, which was identical to my previous room, except the air conditioning did not work as well as the unit in the original room, and the room did not have ANY water to the sink, toilet, or shower without intervention by maintenance, The next morning, I saw the manager, and he again stated that he was buying me dinner that evening.
I ate at the restaurant which was good, ordering the cheapest special of the day (a chicken breast with rice), and a bottle of water. I left a cash tip for the waiter at the restaurant. When I went to check out the next morning, the front desk had no information about the "agreement" of the manager, and I paid for my dinner so I could leave the hotel as the manager was not available.
.
FYI, as a safety issue, a key card is required to return to the lobby which could be dangerous in an emergency.
Room was small, but of adequate size. AC worked well, although I had to use my own batteries in AC remote. No in room wi fi, it was available in the lobby only. Both rooms had a balcony overlooking presidential palace. Bathroom was larger, with wasted space, and a shower enclosure that was smaller than showers found on cruise ships.
Breakfast: “Hot” items were not hot. Limited selection. However, excellent breads and pastries
As you can tell from my review, I had a truly awful hotel experience and would not recommend this hotel.

The breakfast was quite ok with varieties of fruits, bread, eggs, meat and excellent pastries made in the hotel.
Didn't try the restaurant, located in the 6th floor with the best view possible in Bissau.
Like the other hotels I stayed in Bissau, the wifi was poor in the rooms but when connected at the lobby was the faster signal I've ever had at Bissau.
The surprise was the staff, very friendly and following european standards, always asking if you need something or helping you getting what you want. The hotel manager was always around checking all details and staff behavior.
The hotel don't have exterior área or swimming pool.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would recommend it for a business trip.
LOCATION: Located in a great location near the presidential palace and close to some good points of interest
DINE + DRINK: The Lobby ‘Bar’ is a nice area to lounge and chill with a cold one at the end of the day or before heading out for a dinner in town. The Restaurant on site is OK and breakfast offered is nothing great to write about
ROOM: I stayed in 308, so this review is based on that; VIEW:Nothing and you will feel like you are in a dark den ; SIZE: Reasonably spacious room; AIR-CON: Old, but Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Poor quality cosmetics, Bring your own!
FACILITIES:Be prepared to get into a pure African chill-out mode! No gym or Pool on site
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile, especially the front desk guy who checked us in very late in the night and Kept the lobby bar open for us as long as we wanted to stay up!
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all in and around the reception. Plasma TV screen dishing out limited number of channels
However, the staff at reception were not very friendly and only seemed interested in getting more money from me. I booked the room online. At check-in we found out that we were assigned a room without an outside window. It only had a window facing the interior hallway so the room was dark and without fresh air. The window to the hall also made us feel insecure. Anyone could force it open. When we asked to move to another room they said it was not possible even though the hotel was mostly empty. The man who carried our luggage to the room told us that they give this room to people who book with an online travel agency. We refused to accept the room so they offered us a room with a window for a significantly higher price. We grudgingly agreed to pay it. Then when I handed them my credit card they said they don’t accept cards even though my reservation specifically said we could pay the hotel by credit card. This whole discussion was made more difficult by the fact that nobody could speak Englishamd my Portuguese is very basic. This was surprising in a four-star hotel in the main square of the capital city. When we checked out they said we could pay in local West African Francs or euros. I handed the woman at reception all my remaining local currency. I was short by the equivalent of two euros so I gave her a 5 euro note to makeup the difference. She said that it was not enough and asked for ten euros. After arguing with her for ten minutes about the terrible exchange rate I gave up and handed her the ten euros. I did not leave the hotel in a good mood.
The wifi is very slow. The air-conditioning did not work in my room. The staff was quite friendly, but when I asked if they could return my laundry within 12 hours they refused and said it would take at least a day or two. This I found quite strange.
The food is of good and the restaurant offers a great view. But there are many other places in the area with same quality meals, but much cheaper. The restaurant service was excellent and the staff were very friendly.
I know there are limited high-end options in Bissau. Still, this place wasn't to my liking.
