Stayed at Yaya Village for 4 nights. Complimentary shuttle with a stay of three nights or more. Driver was there waiting, even though we were nearly 30 minutes late. Safe transport and friendly smile. Arrived at check in, was offered to look at a choice of rooms, picked the one liked the best, very comfortable. Upon check in as well...

The yaya village hotel and resort was a very nice end to a long Ethiopian journey. It is located high in the mountain above Addis, in a setting surrounded by trees. The resort is a retreat for world-class runners and it contains a short and longer running track, as well as several soccer fields. The food at the resort is...

Yaya Athletic Village was a great find. Had told my cab driver (a gem) to help me plan my Sunday. Took me to Entoto which had stunning views of Addis Ababa plus the St.Mary's church is so well kept. Next stop was Raphael Church. This is not so well known do there were hardly any tourists. But the visit was...

We stayed in Yaya in November 2013 after spending 3 days in Addis, and found it an oasis of calm after the hustle and pollution in the city. The rooms are large and comfortable with TV and a nice en suite. There is a fridge but no tea/coffee facilities, in the cooler months extra blankets may be needed , just...

I often come here on weekends but still I could't see a satisfactory service at this place. The kids like the play ground and the horse ride(but not to compare with Equus). We once waited for 30 minutes to receive our cold drink. The meal we ordered ended up circulating the "whole" compound with band of flies because they couldn't...

Being 5' 9" and around 120kg, visiting this athletes village was the perfect choice for me. Thankfully I could avoid training and enjoy super food and great kids facilities in this sublimely pure aired location that is only 20-30mins drive up and out of Addis. My son flew his kite and my daughter went riding. We also introduced friends to...

Considering that gardens are a rarity in Addis Ababa, the Yaya Village is the perfect weekend getaway for anyone in the country for long durations. For those to whom open, grassy, peaceful and tranquil spaces and fresh air (unlike dusty and exhaust-polluted Addis) are the prerequisites of sanity, the Yaya Village is THE remedy. The food is good and so...

A wonderful hotel/restaurant just 10 km from the Northern edge of Addis Ababa. For an Australian like me it was an odd experience travelling to Yaya. Up the hills through mature forests of Mountain Ash, stringybark and bluegum I could well have been in Victoria, NSW, South Australia or even Tasmania. Only the cars on the "wrong" side of the...

Yaya Village is an athletic center -- co-owned by the famous Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrsalasse -- where, we were told, runners from all over Africa come to train. In the hallway outside many of the rooms are rows of shoes -- not many people's shoes -- each runner's 17 pairs of shoes, lined up outside of his room. Now, that's...
