The Bradt guide is very positive about this hotel; I wonder if the authors actually stayed the night... Our room (€30!!) looked ok at first sight, but we soon found out that we had no hot water. The staff was not really helpful and we had to wait quite a few hours untill we finally got water that was slightly...

The Ras is pretty cheap...about $30 per night. It's very central, the breakfasts are decent enough, and it's reasonably clean. That's the good news. The bad news is that you will probably find a cockroach or two in the bathroom. Also in the bathroom the shower may work well or you may get a dribble of lukewarm water. If you're...

small, noisy and dirty rooms, not lovely staff ..a poor choice in Addis. Really my couple and i were for two times in 2013 August. The third one we change other best hotel. It appears in a lot of guides for the old fame but always stilling. Not a clear rates and any helpless worker in the hotel.

It is not the best hotel in Addis, there's no swimming pool and the area can be dodgy at night. But the staff is super-friendly, the rooms are clean (and all have hot water), the restaurant has a great atmosphere and they serve great food. Try the (hot!) Ethiopian soup or the goulash soup. If you only need a room...

I stayed here twice and got to experience 3 different rooms (116, 36, 39) the cheap rooms (305 birr) were pretty run down. The TVs didn't even have cables and the rooms felt generally damp. In both 36 and 39 the rooms had visible mold problems. That said the expensive room(116) about 30 USD, was clean and comfortable, tv worked....

We stayed at Ras Hotel twice. The first time our twin room smelled like sewer and wasn't clean very well but the second time we got a twin room that was clean and didn't smell at all. There seem to beo different kinds of rooms on the second floor (Nelson Mandela floor): renovated and not renovated. The better (renovated?) rooms...

We spent even nights in the Ras Hotel. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms have hot water and although it can be noisy, we spent time only to sleep. The National Restaurant has very nice traditional food. Generally the staff are very friendly. Laundry is very cheap and quick to be returned. The biggest asset is the presence of the...

We had hoped to upgrade but were a tad disappointed. The room was fairly clean, and it was quiet since it was in the back. The food is ok, but there's better in other traditional restuarants. The location for shopping is excellent, however, being a block from Churchill St. It's next door to the Lion of Sheba monument as well.

Negative points: - Ras Hotel is actually quite expensive for Addis Ababa 35 dollars for a double room. The room are outdated on the first floor. Second floor, they have been redone recently and are nicer. - Upstairs, the hotel hosts celebrations, weddings or birthdays and it can be noisy until 23h. - Too many comings and goings without security...

I stayed here for eight nights, in the rooms on the ground floor, which have yet to be re-vamped. Yes, they are tired and in need of renovation, but for 306 biir ($17) they represent very good value. The cold water shower was actually reasonably warm. I doubt that a cheaper hotel exists in Addis, which also offers breakfast included...
