The Masuwe lodge is just outside of town in a beautiful, peaceful location. The staff at the lodge are attentive and all requests are met with a smile. Cas told us on arrival that we are at home now and we really felt that way by the end of our 3 night stay.
We stayed in the Hide-away tent that had all of the luxuries of a fine hotel (King bed, AC, crisp white linens , refrigerator etc), but with the a feeling of being immersed in the surroundings. Velvet monkeys frolic on the property, but were never a bother.
At the waterhole which the main deck/bar overlooks, we viewed elephants, kudu, baboons, steenboks…the giraffes and Cape buffalo apparently came while we were out each day.
Cas was great at following the schedule that we agreed upon. He took us into town on Day1 to visit the Falls, tour the town, check out the Look out cafe and visit the markets. We enjoyed a river cruise that evening that the lodge provided (3 night stay) where we saw hippos and crocodiles and a fabulous sunset! On Day 2 the lodge provided a morning safari of the Chamabondo section of the Zambezi National Park and the guide was so knowledgeable and attentive. We saw almost as many animals as we had in Kruger park and enjoyed a breakfast that chef Prosper had sent along with us.
The food at the resort is fabulous! We ate some of the best meals we ate on our trip (2 weeks in South Africa followed by 3 nights in Zim). Chef Prosper’s food is tasty and well presented and we enjoyed every meal!
The overall value of the lodge is excellent as the costs included all meals, all drinks (gin, beer, vodka, excellent wines etc), the safari, tour of town, the lodging , airport transfers, and amazing service. They even arranged to take us into town to meet friends for a drink and waited for us to take us back afterwards. Nothing was too much!
When it was time to leave, Cas and some of the staff sang and played the drums while we danced! What a lovely goodbye!
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy an authentic experience, then I highly recommend the Masuwe Lodge!

Cas and the team at Masuwe Lodge made as feel welcome, Iike part of the family. The service was excellent, we were so well looked after. The room was comfitable and clean,. Housekeeping kept the room neat and tidy adding special touches like making towels shaped like elephants. The shower pressure was good and water hot. The balcony was spacious and overlooked the bush it was great to relax and take in the peace and quiet after busy days or spot the occassinal monkey. There was a beautiful pool area, unfurtunately it wasnt quite hot enoughfor us to enjoy.
On our arrival we were greeted like VIPs and taken to the comfortable common area where we were surprised with an amazing view of elephants at the water hole. They visited many more tines along with birds monkeys, buffalo and more. Cas took us everywhere from Victoria Falls to a tour of the town and surprised us when he organised a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. Cas is a generous and gracious host, making sure we had the best experience possible. His team were friendly and helpful, always taking the time to chat and ask after us and share their local knowledge. The chef prepared delicious meals, frequently asking what we would like. Food and drink were always plentiful.
We made unforgettable memories at Masuwe.
I highly recommend Masuwe Lodge, if you choose to stay there you will be delighted.

At Masuwe Lodge, we were wrapped in luxury and tradition, greeted warmly with lively drums and dances, symbolizing the vibrant spirit of Victoria Falls. Our rooms were a picture of elegance, with balconies showcasing breathtaking views and the beautiful details, such as large, immaculate beds, spoke volumes about the care put into our comfort. The sight of elephants and a majestic giant eagle owl from the deck was enchanting. The staff, with their warmth and sharing of local games, made us feel like family, and the exquisite local cuisine was a delight, making our stay a beautiful mosaic of unforgettable moments.

Our travel agent originally booked Masuwe Lodge for us for two nights as a stopover to see Victoria Falls enroute from Cape Town to a safari lodge in Botswana. However, after spending just one afternoon at Masuwe we wished we had spent longer at Masuwe than in Cape Town!
Masuwe is a perfect location to visit Victoria Falls but also to experience a charming, authentic but very comfortable lodge where we were immediately treated like family. The included actIvities (in our case a game drive and Vic Falls tour) were excellent. In addition Cassius arranged a helicopter flight for us and made sure that we had very little to do but enjoy the experience. Between activities the pool was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful gardens.
Nothing was too much trouble for Cassius and his team. The rooms were very comfortable and the food was excellent and plentiful thanks to chef Prosper. All of the staff were extremely friendly and looked after us so well from doing laundry, guiding us to our rooms after dark and keeping us topped up with drinks. Because it was the wet season we didn’t see much activity at the watering hole below the restaurant area but we were very lucky to see plenty of wildlife on our game drive.

I stayed at Masuwe Lodge as part of the Mindful Safari program and it was one of the best experiences ever. Everything about Masuwe Lodge was first class, from the location (who else can say they can look over a balcony and see elephants, giraffes, buffalo, baboons and vervet monkeys?) , to the accommodation, the staff, the food, the game drives, absolutely everything!! I have already been recommending Masuwe Lodge to friends in Australia who are thinking of travelling to this part of Africa. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to come back to Zimbabwe again and, I know when I do, I’ll be headed back to my home away from home, Masuwe Lodge.

We were two couples staying 4 nights at Masuwe and for the entire duration of our stay, we were the only guests in residence which we felt a did disconcerting especially as the lodge location is very isolated outside of Vic Falls.

Unfortunately we had a few power outages, the lodge does have a backup generator but on one occasion the generator ran out of fuel and the entire night we were without power. Being the only residence in the lodge without power during the night made us feel very uncomfortable.

The staff were very attentive to our needs, but being the only guests in residence, their attention to us was a bit overwhelming at times.

Before we arrived at the lodge, we requested the lodge to arrange some excursions for us during our stay which they did and confirmed. During a trip to town on our first day, we were taken to two tour operator's office to pay for our own excursions, we were unhappy about this and felt this should have been taken care of by the lodge and charged to our account.

Masuwe Lodge is a timeless place. Perfectly immersed in the bush on the border of the Zambezi national park, it stands out for the extraordinary kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the beauty of the rooms from which it is possible to see many wild animals within walking distance (e.g. elephants, baboons, buffaloes) and the 'excellent food of the chef who prepared delicious breakfasts and dinners for us. It's the perfect place to spend a few days at Victoria Falls without the tourist chaos of downtown. Furthermore, from Masuwe it is possible to do safari in the Zambezi park whose entrance is less than 10 minutes from the hotel. Special mention to the availability and kindness of the owner. Strongly recommended!

After nigh on 24 hours of travelling door to door from UK we wanted somewhere peaceful and away from the constant helicopters to start our visit to Zimbabwe and Masuwe is certainly the place. Only 15 minutes drive from town but out in the bush with fantastic views across the trees looking down on the baboons and elephants and eye to eye with the weaver birds.
The manager, Cassius Tembo, is a real gem. Our UK agent, Audley Travel, had arranged the trip and recommended Masuwe and they were right. We had a list of things to do and see in Victoria Falls but there were some details to be clarified with local arrangers and Cassius took this in hand and sorted the lot. Highly organised and knowing everyone he made the little worries we had just vanish. Then he drove us to the various places at the times arranged and made sure that we were looked after and was there to pick us up afterwards. Plus he made suggestions for improvements and that paid off as well.
The tents were excellent and the bed very comfortable and much needed after the journey. The programme for the trip gave us two nights in Victoria Falls and having been rushed from one amazing sight to another I think we should have had three just to give a little more time to relax.
The other benefit of Masuwe was the impressive chef, the best of the three camps we visited. My lady is vegetarian and he produced inventive and very well presented dishes for both of us.
Visiting in late May the whole town was quiet but everyone we talked to said that bookings were looking good for the coming seasons. And many locals said ‘thank you for coming’.
And, of course, the Falls were just tremendous.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Masuwe lodge. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the host Cassius was very friendly and helpful in arranging excursions and taking us into Victoria Falls as well as a tour of the town. All of the staff were lovely and the meals prepared by Chef Prosper were delicious.
The lodge tents were great with a very comfortable bed, air-con, overhead fan, fridge and a deck.
It was wonderful whilst eating dinner on the main area deck to watch the elephants at the Masuwe watering hole.
We saw many different animals on the game drive we went on in Chamabonda National park which was organised for us by Cassius.

Do the lion encounter its a must. If you are doing a helicopter flight pick your company very carefully, ours forgot to pick us up. Sunset boat trip not really worth it. Try the dinner cruise instead
