We spent 4 nights at Kubu Kubu, and it was our favorite camp during our 2 week safari! The raised platform tents are beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. There were gorgeous wood floors, heavy canvas walls with many screened windows, beautiful and comfortable 4 poster bed, separate washing and dressing areas and an amazing outdoor tiled shower. Taking a shower under the million stars in the impossibly dark Tanzanian night sky was an unforgettable experience I looked forward to every night. Beyond the sitting area, our private outdoor deck provided a panoramic view of the plains below and we observed giraffes, elephants, impala and buffalo. The night sounds of birds and animals were everywhere, and actually lulled me to sleep. We watched the sunrise most mornings on the deck with a cup of coffee or tea from a hot/cold water dispenser in our room. The restaurant is top-notch, the chef is wonderful - always engaged with the guests and one of the happiest people ever! The boxed meals provided for bush breakfast or lunches were top notch, you actually get to choose what you want from a vast array arranged on a buffet table. Masai guides lead you from your tent to the restaurant, and always point out animal footprints in the sand along the way. Communicating with them is fun and we exchanged Swahili and English words with each other.
When we first arrived we were greeted with many smiling faces, a scented washcloth to wash off safari dust, and a refreshing glass of juice. Alex showed us around and continued to be a friendly and helpful presence throughout our stay. Each evening before dinner, sun-downer drinks and a snack buffet were available for lounging on the large patio deck which overlooked the plains. FYI: all soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are included throughout your stay....both on the patio and with meals. We haven't found that bonus anywhere else! Our entire stay at Kubu Kubu Tented lodge was truly unforgettable and a dose of relaxing luxury "camping" after long days in the jeep. When we return for another safari we will definitely stay here again. We highly recommend it! Asante Sana, Kubu Kuu!

We have been here already many times and love every single detail about this tented lodge. Starting from the warm welcome by the staff followed by the epic views from the main building viewing deck and of course the view from the infinity swimming pool. And when we thought that is already a lot, the Masai warriors guided us to our tented room, called Twiga (Giraffe in Swahili), and inside our tented room we were speechless. In the center of the wooden platform is a gigantic bed with beautiful mosquito net set up and an amazing view over the plains of Serengeti. Our tented room had a wide balcony from which we enjoyed our coffee every morning and the highlight clearly is the outside shower which also has a view ofer the Serengeti. One evening we were visited by Elephants during the shower...very special. Also the food and service here are outstanding, a special feature of this tented lodge is that they don't charge you for drinks.

We stayed in Kubu Kubu for 2 nights and 3 days, and I must say I was very very impressed with the lodge, from the staff to the rooms to the view everything was excellent. As soon as I entered the lodge, I was greeted by the manager Mary (who is absolutely wonderful!! and so are all the staff) and they welcomed us with so much joy. I loved the vibe there! everyone was so friendly. All the staff came up to check on us all the time and they would come up and start a conversation (which I really like). the hospitality was AMAZING! I cannot recommend Kubu Kubu enough. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. everyone was so amazing, I was super super impressed by the customer service. We also had Maasais escort us to and from our room and they were also very very friendly, I would sit down and talk to them and ask about their cultures, so I learned so much from them. Our room was probably one of the best rooms I've ever stayed at. I had my eyes on one specific room they had (which included a bathtub as well as an outdoor shower.) and that was the only room they had which had a bathtub and it was a family room. but I made a special request and the manager Mary was so kind enough to provide me with that room since we were the only guests at that time. so I am really thankful to them for that. I would highly highly recommend staying at Kubu Kubu!! you will not go wrong!!

My family and I (4 ppl) stayed here between 23rd July to 25th July. We got an interconnected room called Duma and Pongo. They were set at the top tier of the hill overlooking the Serengeti.

The rooms have indoor showers and the most spectacular outdoor shower overlooking the wildlife of Serengeti. An unbelievable experience which I will never forget. Showering whilst zebras, buffalo etc walking by. The sunrise and sunset are also priceless and everything is just pure luxury.

The beds are very comfortable and there is always hot water in the showers.

There is free water during meals which is rare and the best thing is that they cater for the tour drivers and guides at the same place where we ate. This was amazing as everyone was given the right hospitality they deserve. The staff are beyond helpful and very very friendly.

There is an infinity pool which was superb for my instagram. As you can sense I loved this place and I would recommend it to everyone.

We stayed two nights at the Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge during our recent trip to the Serengeti National Park. We were immediately impressed by our accommodations which featured a beautifully designed, spacious bedroom with a king-size tented bed kitted out with soft, luxurious linens. The bed faced the large living area which was furnished with comfortable lounge chairs facing three sides of screened canvas facing incredible views of the Serengeti. There is a separate toilet room, large sink area, and a wonderful outdoor shower with plenty of hot water. Each room has a water cooler that also dispenses hot water.

We weren’t too impressed with the restaurant and service at KubuKubu. Service was inconsistent and the food mediocre. Although the head chef was super friendly and very accommodating we struggled to find anything on the buffet menu that was exceptional. Selection for the boxed lunches was minimal and not very appealing. The same items were offered up both days of our stay. Something else we noticed is that female staff were friendly, attentive, efficient and hard working whereas male staff at the main lodge came across as aloof, slow moving, and disorganized. Also of note, women wore masks consistently while male staff either had no mask or wore them around their neck rather than covering their mouth and nose.

Overall we found a very casual approach to following Covid-19 protocols which was somewhat unsettling. There was one bottle of sanitizer available in the main lodge that was located at the front door and occasionally placed on a side table at the entrance. Although there was a Covid-19 protocol memo left in our room, we found very little following of the stated protocols. Guests were allowed to self serve, no sanitizer at buffets, and as mentioned staff wearing of masks was limited and inconsistent.

This is an incredibly beautiful lodge with outstanding guest accommodation. Perhaps following Covid shutdowns they are struggling to get their staff up to standard. Management needs to take a very close look at how staff are being trained and supervised and supported.

Dear ywgtravellers, Thank you for your post and feedback. We are sorry you did not enjoy the food. The food at Kubu Kubu is based on the fresh products produced in our faros in the Ngorongoro Highlands. Covid-19 protocols are reviewed on a regular basis. We asure our staff are all wearing masas and sanitizer is available in more check points inside the main house. Thank you,

It's easy to see why Serengeti means 'endless plain' when you stay at this property. The view is phenomenal. This was the second tented lodge we stayed during our safari, and it's a beautiful facility. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the chef prepares amazing meals. She likes to talk to people to get a feel for what they like and goes out of her way to accommodate. I'm a vegetarian so she made sure I had plenty to eat. Staff did a lively song and dance one night for people who were celebrating special events.
During covid, they are following all the proper protocols - wearing masks, making sure hand sanitizer is used, and seating guests at distances.
Staying here makes you feel like you're camping among the animals, but in a comfortable space.

We got a last minute and very cheap deal to stay at Kubu Kubu due to the low season. We were amazed by the loaction and luxury of thes accomodation. The rooms were decorated really nicely, complete with all necessary accessories (water filter, endless blankets etc). We really enjoyed the balcony and of course the outdoor shower with amazing views! The swimming pool was also amazing.

Unfortunately we were really let down by the food and service during our stay. Even though we had a cheap deal, we would still expect the waiting and reception staff to be a little more proactive and efficient. For example we were told at first that they couldn't do a packed lunch/breakfast for us and when they did come round to the idea they didn't seem to know what to offer us. Also when we opened our packed food they had got the order completely wrong. It seemed a bizarre choice of food and excessive use of plastic too!
Dinner also was fairly poor - they chose to serve us 'family style', but did not bring out much food for our table. Not to mention the dessert - a sesame seed biscuit covered in chocolate sauce. A very simple menu of 2 meat and 1 vegetarian option would have been much better.

I really hope for the sake of other, full paying guests, that our experience was just a one off.

This tented lodge offers everything you can dream during a safari trip : the view on the Serengeti Park, the good mix of wildness and luxury - you are having a drink on the terrasse and the animals are running just in front of you, the rooms are very spacious and clean. The local staff is nice. Definitely a great night at Kubu Kubu !

We regret only a night at this property with less time . From arrival to departure we were warmly welcomed .
The Tents are very comfortable open shower could not be used as we arrived late & it was cold . The kids felt cold & they delivered electric heaters , beds very comfy. The shower water was hot with great flow . The tent had all requirements from kettle to water dispencer , very clean towels & amenities
The staff were at their toes at all times , Masai escort you to & fro the rooms (do carry loose change to tip them) .
The restaurant is large & there is a large deck overlooking the paranoic view of the plains .
Food was excellent & the lunch box apart from the extras we requested the night earlier there was a variety spreaded out to choose from .
Those serving us were very attentive & friendly. Kubukubu is a gem in the Serengeti .
I would recommend them to add lights or lamps along the walkways to the tents as with the Masai escorts & torches it's pretty dark as the property is not fenced .
To summ up we voted no 1 for this place & I will confidently recommend kubukubu to anyone.

What an absolutely stunning camp in an equally stunning location. We stayed for 4 nights in their first class accommodation which has everything you need. The room was spacious and the balcony allows you to soak up the surrounding view which is stunning. The outside shower was fabulous with amazing views. What makes this place is the staff where nothing is too much trouble and we had constant smiles and help from everyone . Food was plentiful and good choice of catering for everyone. Given you are in the middle of the Serengeti the facilities are astonishing. Copious hot water, laundry a dollar an item and an all inclusive package which covers everything - you can even tailor make your own pack lunch for the day. There is a pool and i had a massage which was great with reasonable prices. You even get your own Masi warrior to walk you back at night. This was our first safari and this camp really delivered - the location is spot on and we saw lots of animals including the migration. Highly recommended and the only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.
