Built in the style of a stately Edwardian manor house, Singita Sasakwa Lodge is positioned on Sasakwa Hill with sweeping views over the plains of the Serengeti. The lodge's grand entrance leads to elegant rooms of generous proportions, wide wraparound verandas and rolling lawns. The traditional glamour of Venetian mirrors, cut-glass crystal, silver candelabras and antiques are combined with animal hides, local artefacts and tribal cushions. The lodge has nine cottages with one, two or three bedrooms, all with private infinity pools, and also a four-bedroom villa. From elegant afternoon teas on the veranda to wine-paired dinners on the lawn, every experience is memorable and overflowing with special details. A spa, gym and tennis courts provide a multitude of activities in between game drives.

WOW!!!! Absolutely everything about our 4 night stay was PERFECT! From the moment we landed at the airstrip until the moment we departed from the airstrip, every single detail was tended to, nothing overlooked. Brian's tour of the property when we arrived was warm and helpful, Rose, never stopped smiling and made sure every meal was perfect and served at a different location every time, the cappuccino was ready as we walked into the breakfast room before our game ride, we never had to ask for lemons after the first time, there was a specialized menu for my wife who has dietary restriction, and the list goes on and on. Andrew, our guide, was incredible, friendly, knowledgeable and with an eagle eye for spotting animals so far in the distance it was amazing, including on our night game drive which was awesome. The surprise experiences we enjoyed out on the game drive, arranged by the staff were spectacular. We have had the lucky opportunity to stay in many 5 star level resorts and Singita is by far our new measuring stick by which all other destinations will be judged. We can't wait to plan our next Africa trip based on Singita locations and availability.

My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon at Singita Sasakwa Lodge, and I can confidently say it was the most incredible travel experience of our lives. From start to finish, the staff at Sasakwa Lodge went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.

The lodge itself is situated in a stunning location with sweeping views of the plains and wildlife. The rooms are luxurious and spacious, bigger than our house, with every detail thoughtfully considered to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.

What really sets Singita Sasakwa Lodge apart, though, is the staff. We were blown away by the kindness and attention to detail of everyone we encountered, especially Steve our lead Steward and Emmanuel our Sommelier . The team at Sasakwa Lodge lead by "K" truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome and cared for, from the warm welcome upon arrival to the thoughtful surprises left in our room.

The meals were also a standout feature of our stay. The food was consistently delicious and beautifully presented, and we appreciated the variety of local Tanzanian and international dishes on offer. It was clear that a lot of thought and care went into each meal, and we always looked forward to each meal (and likely over-ate :)

Finally, we have to mention the game drives, which were simply unforgettable. Our guide Eddie was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and environment, and we felt so fortunate to witness such incredible scenes of nature up close.

Overall, our honeymoon at Singita Sasakwa Lodge was truly magical, and we cannot recommend this lodge highly enough. In fact, we are already planning our next trip with the whole family! Thank you to the entire team for an experience that will stay with us for a lifetime.

Where do you begin in describing something straight out of a dream? We have NEVER been anywhere like this amazing hotel. Singita Sasakwa stands ALONE when it comes to luxury, pampering, views, food, and most importantly their staff. We have staying at a Singita property in the past and that was outstanding.....this was even better.....You arrive at this exquisite hotel and are immediately greeted by a warm and friendly staff. The views out the back of this property propel you to another world, one that you could only dream about. The food is outstanding, unique and delicious in every way. The rooms are truly, your OWN bungalow. Each room stands alone with everything your heart could ever desire. If you do need something you are immediately attended to by your own butler who will move "heaven and earth" to get it for you and make you happy. Our butler (Emmanual) was the most friendly, helpful and amazing person I could ever have hoped for. He was always there to do anything to make my day better (but not in an obtrusive manner). Always smiling, asking how my day was and constantly remembered anything that i enjoyed eating or drinking. He was the reason our stay was simply magical. I loved talking with him about the lodge, the area and telling him our story as well as asking him about himself. Then that brings us to our Guide (Medard), WOW another amazing individual that went out of his way every single moment sharing the beauty of Tanzania with us. It could have been the animal encounters (there were many), the sunsets/sunrises, birds, trees, etc. Medard is extremely knowledgeable and friendly who made our trip extra special. This truly is a dream of vacation spot. If you can, book this hotel and soak up every single moment.

Dear Robynne, The feeling is mutual. Where do we begin to thank you for your beautiful and kind words? We are humbled and inspired – thank you for the taking the time to write such a touching review. I’d like to extend a personal thank you for singling out our people. Its heart-warming and means the world to us. With everything you have so accurately described being part of your experience, from the animal sightings, the birds (did you know there are over 400 different species here!), the food, the jaw-dropping “backdrop-like” view, we value our people the most. Despite the pandemic having such an impact on how we interact nowadays, often at a distance, it’s the warmth in people’s hearts that make the difference in what we do, so thank you for mentioning and appreciating this as much as you have. The words that come to mind and best capture what you have felt are from an American radio host, Denis Prager, describing his experience of Africa “Having travelled to some African countries, I find myself, like so many visitors to Africa before me, intoxicated with the continent. And I am not referring to the animals, as much as I have been enthralled by them during safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Rather I am referring to the African people.” Thank you for appreciating the subtleties and finer details, we cannot wait to welcome you back at Singita Sasakwa soon! Herman and the Singita Sasakwa Team

We actually travelled in February 2022 and have been meaning to write a review ever since. Such excellence should not be overlooked. We travel all over the world in some of the finest hotels and it is rare that we cannot find fault with something little, here we could find none. This is perfection. We had a two bedroom lodge with plunge pool, it was kitted out in colonial style, with full dressing room, beautiful freestanding bath. Every little detail had been thought of down to the candles and matches by the bath. Just off the lounge there was a bar filled with your favourite drinks, ice, lemon, knife, chopping board, it really was a home from home. Nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble. We found our favourite board games in our room and spent many hours after coming back from a game drive, chilling by our pool and playing scrabble.
You are assigned a butler/ waiter who is with you your entire stay. They know your food and drink preferences, meet when you come back from safari with cold towels , essentially they preempt your every whim. Our lady was incredible.
The food is exceptional. We can be tricky eaters but we all enjoyed the food from adults to children. Every day was different, nothing was the same. Even where you ate every night was a surprise, one night our butler set us up on the verandah, the next we were in the grand dining room, no four nights were ever the same.
Then there was safari. You want to see the Big 5, no problem. Every game drive is tailor made to your wishes. We had an incredible guide, so knowledgable, so patient. We watched a zebra being killed, a baby giraffe take it first steps and so much more. We also got to see the other Singita lodges in the area - all equally as beautiful in interior design with their own characteristics. Some more tent and safari like. We were pleased we chose Sasakwa as I like the safety of solid walls but could appreciate the beauty of each individual camp.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend any of them.
It was my birthday the day after we left and on our last night I was presented with the most wonderful birthday cake and a gorgeous gift which my partner hid from me until my birthday so I never thanked anyone for. This is a big thank you not only for the gift but for everything. We had the most wonderful stay, our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
From here on in every safari we plan to take will be at a Singita Lodge if we can make it work.

This lodge is spectacular. From the gorgeously decorated villas which are equipped with everything you could ever ask for (like a private plunge pool) to the 5 star quality meals and wines we had daily to the views out into the endless Serengeti it was just perfect.
Everyone from the management to our butler Hassan and everyone in between are so welcoming and can't do enough for you making you truely feel like you are home. The warm smiles and passion for providing the best experience possible are what makes this place so special. Customer service at its best.
The guide and twice daily game drives were also top notch. Gerald was brimming with information and gave us a a great viewing experiences every time along with so much knowledge on everything from the animals to the lodges history to conservation efforts. We looked forward to every drive.
Thank you sasakwa and it's team for giving us such a wonderful safari experience. It's a combination of the stunning lodge, amazing wildlife viewing, delicious and inventive culinary experiences and truely 5 star service that made this trip so memorable.
Yes it's a splurge but worth every penny.

Dear Josienoto, Thank you for your lovely review - we are humbled by your kind words. And, thank you so much for singling out our people, their service and the culinary journey you experienced at Singita Sasakwa Lodge. We are thrilled to hear that your guiding experience was more than you expected, despite having one of the wettest years on record! Conservation is at our core and reading your review fills us with joy (and pride) as the protection of this unique ecosystem has come a very long way. Our Lion population alone has grown over 1600% since inception - but, I am sure Gerald already told you this?! With our 100-year purpose in mind, we believe that your Singita Serengeti experience will define a true ‘luxury’ Safari experience all year round, despite the season. We wish to you see you again soon at one of our other properties. With kind regards, Hermann Naude. Lodge Manager - Singita Sasakwa Lodge

As soon as we landed in the truly gorgeous, Grumeti Air Strip, we began to feel the warmth and beauty of the people working at Singita! We knew it would be a trip to remember.... meeting our wonderful guide Kokan, and arriving to Sasakwa Lodge took our breath away! What an incredible property and beautiful design. Hamisi was great and professional taking us to our wonderful suite! We then met Richard Mponzi, who provided us with the most wonderful and professional service from early morning coffees in our room, to late dinners. Richard works so hard, and always positive and with a big smile on his face. He dreams big, and wants to keep learning and I truly believe he is a great asset to the Singita team! The food was perfect every single day! What a trip! But I have to say It is definitely true that the people make the place. We will be back soon,

The Benimetzky’s!

Best place ever If you can afford $2900 pp a night during peak season it is sooo worth it. The houses are superb, the food is incredible, the service is the best. The guides are experienced and great. They find animals that I could not see. All animals including leopards which are the hardest to find.
Would definitely come back !

Singita provides you with dramatically different experiences at each property but each one is best in class. And when we transferred from the tented Sabora Camp on the Serengeti grasslands to the Sasakwa Lodge perched atop a mountain looking over those same plains the facilities couldn’t be more opposite yet the experience was equally stunning. And Singita knew we adored our guide from Sabora, Musa, so much that they made an exception and we got to travel with him to the new lodge and retain our new friend as our guide and Sasakwa as well ensuring a continuation of our perfect experience!

While Sabora has a frontier-feeling luxury tented experience, Sasakwa is a full mansion of a lodge with the ornate decorations of a bygone era. Our private cottage had an infinity pool looking out over the Serengeti and was massive and fully-stocked with everything from bar supplies to telescopes to watch the game crossing the plains far below. This is a prime place to see the Great Migration on a wider scale.

Food was great, and high tea was a lovely experience, and they make a very unique, fruity type of Old Fashioned that I’ve grown to love, and miss now that we’ve come home. One night we watched as a massive storm approached across the plains and we all gathered inside the bar where we met other travellers from around the world. The storm just missed us but it was a thrilling vibe for us all!

That night we were served dinner in a private room that felt very Victorian and we were treated like royalty with sincere love and care. We will treasure the time we spent with the staff at this premium property.

My favourite hotel in grumeti. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know. The service is great and the rooms are spacious. We stayed in the 3 bedroom with a heated pool. During my 2 weeks trip in tanzania we were always hungry because food wasn't up to standards but in sasakawa it was delicious. The chef Louise puts all of effort in to customising the menu on our needs. We stayed in faru faru and we were disappointed with their food and service. Jimmy the tour guide was very knowledable and they set up a picnic breakfast for us that was out of this world.

Just arrived home from an amazing 5 day stay. We have been big Singita fans since our first safari in Kruger 6 years ago. Our dream was to make it to their, in my opinion, flagship property Sasakwa one day and they did not disappoint. The lodge and cottages are stunning. Food and wine offerings are some of the best we have had in our travels around the world. The lodge is so well laid out there are times you think you have the whole place to yourself. You never dine in the same spot and they treat each meal like you are celebrating a milestone in your life. Great gym and spa and if inclined tennis courts as well. The level of service is the best we have ever experienced. You might almost be tempted to skip the game drives but of course why would you. Animal population is abundant and our guide was extremely knowledgeable. We started on our first drive the moment we landed and it did not disappoint, seeing a fresh Cheetah kill 30 minutes later. Special thanks to the entire staff and management and specifically our butler Steve, Driver Abu, and Sommelier Dean who provided two great wine tastings while there.

Hi There Thank you so much for such a glowing review of our Sasakwa Lodge. We really appreciate you mentioning those individuals who made your stay that little bit extra special, always so nice to hear about those personal moments. We have to also thank you for appreciating what we set out do; in particular from the tireless conservation efforts allowing for the abundance of animals returning to this Northern corridor of the Serengeti, our bespoke food and wine experiences, the wellness facilities all the way to the comfort of the Cottages (and of course this stunning birds-eye view perched high above on Sasakwa Hill) – we are truly thankful! Above all, seeing a Cheetah kill – just wow! From all of us, thank you for taking the time to review and we look forward to seeing you at any of our properties again in future 😊 Hermann and the Sasakwa Team
