Located in South Central Serengeti, within the Moru Kopjes area, Serengeti Pioneer Camp is ideally situated to offer superlative access to the annual migration and the ‘Big 5’ with sweeping views overlooking Moru Kopjes, Lake Magadi and the endless plains. Paying homage to the mobile camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown, Serengeti Pioneer Camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering. Comprising of twelve-tented rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities including a flushing toilet, vanity basin, and showers, the tent interiors are designed to evoke the very best of an era long-gone but certainly not forgotten.

Excellent !

Fantastic views, superb accommodation and excellent staff. We felt thoroughly spoilt here. We were well looked after by the staff, that were warm and friendly. The accommodation was of an extremely high standard and the food was bespoke to our tastes. The views were breath taking and the animals were within our sight. Thank you to all the staff and we will be visiting again soon!

We stayed for three nights at Pioneer Camp of a total of 9 nights on safari and it was our favorite of the three places we stayed. Justin and Rodgers were excellent hosts, our assigned butler Elimo was kind and patient with us, and James who took care of our room was a delight. The scenery was amazing, the service excellent, EVERYTHING was fabulous. Our guide - Allan - was the absolute best; he took the time to get to know us and learn what was most important to us on game drives and then to deliver on those interests. (We also appreciated that they use solar power for electric and hot water.) In short, the facilities, the food, the service, and the PEOPLE make this a very special place IN THE MIDDLE OF a very special place. We would love to visit again!

We arrived and were taken to the mountain top lounge to see the breathtaking views of the Serengeti at sunset, went to our tent which was amazing with animals grazing near by,, went up for dinner to see the areas well lit with lanterns creating a magical setting for dinner. The staff was terrific and service impeccable. A small camp where you are treated by all of the staff as if you were the only ones there

Amazing! Welcoming! Memorable!

Our 3 nights at Pioneer Camp was absolutely amazing. The staff were incredible and our guide Allan was able to conjure up wild animals whenever he asked what we wanted to see! His knowledge was unlimited and I learnt so much. My room was beautiful and I slept like a log in the huge bed. Dinner by lamplight was special and having breakfast out in the bush was a real experience. I loved every minute of my time at Pioneer Camp. Thank you Rodgers for making my stay there so special.

We stayed at your wonderful camp December 2015 and it seems like yesterday. Fond memories are so vivid. Definitely a place everyone should experience. I have an odd question ... my daughter traveled with us and absolutely loved your lotion/soap line which was made from natural herb/flower. For some reason I recall lemon being in the name. Well, she purchased extra as a souvenir but it was confiscated at the airport. Wondering if there is any information you can share regarding your specialty made soap/lotions and how I might purchase some for my daughter as a gift?

I am planning a trip for January/February. How far is Serengeti Pioneer Camp from Sanctuary Kusini? Are they both in the southern Serengeti or is one in Central Serengeti? Is there a map anywhere with all the lodges shown?

The Pioneer Camp is in central Serengeti. We realized that there are different types of hotels and camps, most of them secluded and with access restricted to guests. Serengeti is really huge, so everything is far from any place. You should better contact a tour company to guide you. There are a bunch of them for different budgets and bilingual guides.

I plan a visit with friends to Serengeti in Jan 2016, I would like to know the best place / camp near where can see wildbeest migration?

Hello from Elewana. Thank you for your email. january is not the best time to come and see the Migration as it is really only travelling through the Serengeti between early June and late August. I would very much like to share a link with you via our website but Trip Advisor does not allow us to do this, for some strange reason. However if you go to our site at Serengeti Migration Camp or Serengeti Pioneer Camp, you will see a link for the Migration route and times of the year. Check this out so that you can see the Migration path. If you are coming in January, there is so much to see at Tarangire, Ngorongoro and still in the Serengeti. It is one of my favourite times of the year as it is quieter, not as hot and a little quieter in terms of tourism, especially towards the end of the month.
