Having spent 9 days on safari at 3 great locations, Lamai was our favourite. Helen and Clyde run an incredible lodge, that's luxurious and comfortable while being very relaxed and super friendly. All the staff are brilliant, with special props to the chefs, the food at Lamai is absolutely delicious. Rooms are just amazing, huge, secluded individual lodges with open...

My husband and I went to Lamai Serengeti as Part 1 of our honeymoon and were absolutely blown away. It was the most magical place we have ever been - the food was out of this world and we saw the big 5 within 24 hours thanks to our wonderful guide Elisante. We also saw baby everything - lion, leopard,...

The Mkombe House in the heart of the Serengeti is a find not to be missed and is ideal for families or groups of friends. The house is beautifully furnished and luxurious, the staff is warm and absolutely delightful, and the accommodations including an outdoor pool and outdoor showers and opportunities for dining outdoors were spectacular. We were treated with...

We stayed at the Mkombe House (a couple of miles from the main lodge area) for two nights in November. This was an absolutely fantastic experience with world class accommodations, terrific staff, an amazing guide, and unbelievable food. Although located in the northern part of the Serengeti, we were by no by no means "roughing it". During the day, the...

We (two couples) have been on a tour of Serengeti for a few weeks and I have to say that Lamai Serengeti was the absolute highlight. We have had a few safari vacations before, but in terms of location, hospitality of staff and service Lamai ranks pretty much at the top. The managers, a young couple from South Africa, have...

Nomad Lamai not only is a beautiful camp but the views are spectacular. You are up on a hill where you have a view of the Serengeti from a bit above. The rooms are fantastic and well appointed with local art and furniture. Double sinks in the bathroom with a wonderful shower with good water pressure. Also a beautiful view...

Lamai Serengeti is amazing in every way. The views are stunning, the staff very friendly, the rooms beautiful and the pool and common areas like something out of a magazine. This was our first stop on our honeymoon and I didn't want to leave. The managers, Helen and Clyde, were very helpful both while we were at the camp and...

This camp is luxurious compared to the more basic tent camps. Each unit is a separate cabin with a wood thatch roof. Very spacious with a large comfortable king size bed, sitting area and washing and shower facilities. There is also an attached deck with a magnificent view of the valley below. The hosts Helen & Clyde were very helpful,...

Lamai is in the most beautiful and tranquil place and we could not have hoped for a better honeymoon. The safari guides are excellent - Lazaro knew the name of every single tiny bird in the Serengeti - and make the safari experience very special. Everyone at the camp was so welcoming. Most of all, we saw the most amazing...

From the moment we arrived at Lamai, my husband and I were greeted with the warmth of an amazing staff...all of whom took great pride and caring in their roles. The setting is dream-like, not just with views, but by actually being cradled in the expanse of the Serengeti...with the sights, sounds and majesty of the animals all around. The...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you were to visit only one place in the Serengeti, it should be here. This is no idle boast; the iconic Kogakuria kopje in northern Serengeti. A few years ago the Tanzanian government chose a handful of responsible companies to build small permanent lodges in this remote sector of the Serengeti. Nomad Tanzania was offered the prime site and Lamai Serengeti now sits tucked amongst the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Beautifully designed open-fronted rooms, a spacious lounge and clear pool provide an ideal place to escape to for some relaxation in between your wildlife adventures, for both families, groups and couples. The area boasts year-round fantastic game viewing, including the Big 5, and between July and November, the wildebeest migration moves through, crossing the Mara River in dramatic fashion just 20mins from the lodge. ... more   less
