We had two nights at Dunia Camp at central Serengeti. We were there when it was extremely dry. This probably made the roads a bit rougher but it was worth every bump to get to Dunia. The staff, Angel and her ladies, were wonderful. Nothing...More

Hi, we have been recommended Dunia camp by our safari company. It looks to me to be a once in a lifetime opportunity. It will be the rainy season when we go (no choice on dates unfortunately) and I understand this is also tsetse fly season. Any advice to avoid that esp for kids?? We will be travelling with our young children. I'm seeing mixed advice about kids at the camp. The Asilia blog includes Dunia in lots of fabulous kids activities - bush craft, cooking etc, which they would love. However, Expert Africa suggests children aged 12+. Ours are 4 and 8 and the safari company have already confirmed this is ok with Dunia - I think their main concern being disturbance to other guests at dinner: mine being safety and a chance for them to release energy after a game drive. Is there opportunity for them to have active play after a game drive? How safe is the tent? Some people have mentioned lions entering tents, now I'm pretty sure they lack the opposable thumbs and can't unzip so I'm not sure how that works... :o) Has anyone travelled here with younger kids and what was your experience and do you have any tips/advice for us? We're planning to go in April and I'm just loving what I have seen and read so far. Thanks!

Hello: I am booked to stay at Dunia camp in a few weeks. I was wondering if you can help answer several questions about the Safari Vehicles used on the game drives. I am a photographer, so am interested to know: a) Are the safari vehicles completely open both on sides/windows, and top/roof ? Or are they closed - makes photography more difficult. b) Are the seats a single "bench seat" in each row of seats, or individual bucket seats for each person in each row? It affects the amount of room I have for my gear and maneuverability to get from side to side. c) Do you know if the vehicles have a "cooler" of sorts for food and drink? Is it electrically connected to the cars system or just a stand-alone cooler. d) In Kenya, some of my vehicles had power plugs to change batteries. Do you know if the vehicles at Dunia have charging facilities e) Are there any power outlets to charge cameras in the tents or do you have to go to the Kitchen / common area to charge batteries. f) Finally (thank you...) what is the bug situation like during safari and nights? I've heard the Tse-Tse flies are out in full force due to lack of rains? Your reply is much appreciated - Thanks
