Lobo Wildlife Lodge is a dream of romanticism in its remote location, strategically hidden inside an enormous volcanic rocky outcrop. It is the biggest Lodge on the migration route. You can watch and witness the migration by lying in the pool. Artistically made of wood and glass elements around clusters of large boulders, harmoniously merging with its surroundings, the Lodge affords from its raised location stunning views of the most amazing natural spectacle to be seen on Earth.Lobo is ideally set in the migratory route of over two and a half million of wildebeest in their desperate struggle for survival.

Lodge is situated above 2.000 m.a.s.l., it can be very chilly here. Quiet part of the Serengeti makes the location special. Lodge appears monotonously on arrival, offers 74 rooms, everything is functional, but old fahion style with lots of dark solid wood. No power between 23 - 5 hrs. Overnight laundry service. Restaurant is huge and practiacl, misses cosy atmosphere. Service is average, buffet offers good selection.

We had two nights here as we explored the northern Serengeti. It is a stunning place built into the kopje with the swimming pool having rock as its floor! Service and food were excellent. The bathrooms are a little dated but are clean and function well. We loved watching the dassies which live around the lodge.

This is a government run lodge built in the 70,s and is so remote they have forgotten to conduct some basic renovations. The one most annoying aspect is the floors squeak like no ones business. Not only our room but you can hear the next two rooms squeaking away as well. The electricity goes off between midnight and 5.00am so if you wake at 6.00 the hot water ain’t hot. Having said that it’s a magnificent old wooden building which is vast and the wood is beautiful. Staff are typically Tanzanian and are lovely so that is great.
If you need to be near the Mara river then take it. Otherwise look for something more modern.

The lodge is really like out of a movie. It is located on a remote Kopje (island rock) in the Northern Serengeti, build into the rocks. The premises are teaming with hyax animals (furry relatives to elephants ?!) and the occasional visiting baboon troupe. It is hardly possible to imagine a more special setting, where you can watch animals below from the pool. Staff was very kind and friendly and also the food was tasty.

This hotel is wonderful with everybody who serves with a smile on their face. Stunning views of the landscape. Sunset point on top of the mountain is such a nice spot. It is situated on top of the hill and has very nice rooms.
All rooms have a view of the plains of Serengeti . Mr. Aslam was very helpful and we enjoyed every bit of the stay.

We stayed for 2 nights in august last year and the Bar and restaurant area are great, but the rooms are a bit worked out and would need some refurbishment.

Our stay was however spoiled by the fact that one of the reception staff stole the cellular phone and money of our guide. And so we were stuck in this hotel for 4 hours because of this...

We called the general manager but he did nothing, just stayed and look at our guide and the receptionist arguing (because yes, the receptionist acknowledged having stolen the cell phone and money!!).

So we stayed there, sitting in the lobby, the manager doing nothing (he actually went back to his office after 10 minutes, probably being bored by the situation...) no one from the hotel ever apologized to us, or even offered a glass of water!

Finally our guide had to go to the rangers office to file a complaint (so for us it meant staying in the lobby, completely ignored by the staff and manager), and come back just in time to rush out of the park before our ticket expired, so we basically lost one full day which comes very expensive in the Serengeti, and this because of this hotel and it's useless incompetent manager!

So don't even think to go there, apparently the staff is free to steal from everyone (including you), and no one will ever intervene if anything happens!

During our waiting time I asked to contact the owner of the hotel as they own multiple hotels, but the manager refused to give me any contact, stating that he was the boss...
Yeah... Obviously...

Stay away from this hotel...

We spent a great time in Tanzania. The only negative thing about the tour was our stay in Wildlife Lobo Lodge on december 28.
At our arrive it was already dark and the generator was not working, so no electricity and no warm water. Nobody told us about that at the reception, we were informed by a guy who brought us the luggage. After an hour we have been given 2 candles. I asked the reception to have some extra candles (for the bathroom also, for instance) and the receptionist didn't want to give me. He said that for one room 2 candles were enough. I had to discuss to have them. Again, when I asked something to turn them up, he answered that there was no need, since in 20 minutes the generator would be on. But after an hour, the generator was still down, and we were in the dark.
I wonder how can an hotel like that, pretending to be an exclusive hotel, remain without electricity and water. I also wonder about the service, they really need to save on candles and matches?
Our lunch box was at the same level: the piece of chicken in our boxes were rotten, black and stinky. They were uneatable. We are not choosy people, also our driver could't eat them.
So finally, we would have prefered to sleep in a tent. It's not excusable how we have been treated, and the fact that we were not advised on time and had no choice to change location.

I was at the wildlife lodge in late July with my group of 6 friends for a safari and although the place is very beautiful, I must say that unfortunately it left us a very bad memory because the next day on the first night we were all wrong with the stomach, we had vomiting and diarrhea. even our guide was sick and we were told that it often happens in this lodge. Upon returning in the evening, we discovered that all the customers had been ill during the safari. It is also forbidden to get out of the jeep during the safari but we could not do without it.We only ate cooked food and we avoided ice and unpackaged water, to be avoided absolutely.
