Overall good experience. It's quite a famous place in Dar - and the reaction local friends had was a mix of giggles and awe --- "you're staying AT the Q bar?? That's awesome!" When we arrived the room they had booked for us (a couple) had two single beds and a bathroom shared with the entire room including the backpackers...

it should be noted that this place no longer blasts loud music Thu-Sat - it's now everyday. Stayed here for 2 weeks and they blasted the same CD till 3-4am every single day. felt like i was preparing for a role in The Shining sequel. Good luck.

Yeah yeah, everybody will mention the hookers downstairs. The bottom line is that this really has no impact on the quality of the guesthouse. We stayed here two nights and thought it was a solid budget option in this part of Dar. The place is clean and in a pretty good area. The food at the bar downstairs is tasty...

Q-Bar is a hard spot to review, because if I would have stayed there Sunday through Wednesday, I'm sure I would have a very different opinion of the place. As such, we stayed on a Saturday, and I just can't bear to give it anything but a terrible review. The service was incredibly poor. We waited at the reception desk...

Forget getting any rest here, Thursday-Saturday. The DJ continues his base thumping till 4am, even if there's only one prostitute left stumbling about the "dancefloor". Although, if you're a football fan, you'll certainly enjoy your stay as it also functions as a great sports bar. All in all, you might get a good "bang" for your buck ;) Cheers.

Hi, Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to write a review. We have a Live band on Thursday and Friday who stop at 1am and a DJ who plays on Saturday's and stops at 2am. We have rooms in the back and at the top that are quiet. Hope you had a good trip in Tanzania....

Stayed here over weekend, meaning nights were noisy until early morning thanks to their bar and the Maisha nightclub next door. We enjoyed the bar though...apart from prostitutes, there were quit a few young hot Scandinavian girls that night :) Rooms were basic but not bad for this price. They have good lockers in rooms and general safety does not...

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Glad you had a good time. I am not sure what you mean by the name, it was actually named Q-Bar after the q stick used in playing pool. The Maisha night club is now closed. Hope you make it back to beautiful Dar es Salaam again one day....

I was stuck in dar es salaam for nine weeks due to consular reasons and had to find a reasonable cheap place to stay. I stayed at a couple of places in the city centre and when I did get to Qbar I spent most of my time there. It is ten minutes drive from city centre and zanzibar ferry...

Hi, Thank you for your review. We are glad you had a great stay. The night club behind Q-Bar has now closed down so it is very quiet on that side. Hope you make it back one day. Regards, Management

Having stayed at Q-Bar a decade ago, it was interesting to go back. Not much has changed. The bar/restaurant/hangout/disco downstairs is bigger with extra canopy seating. This still kicks at night with lots of loud music and weekend bands. Popular with expats, cowboys and ladies of the twilight. This was a business trip and when we mentioned we were putting...

Having been on to Q Bar's website and read their blurb about their establishment, I was disappointed to arrive and find that the budget room I was put in did not in fact have an en-suite bathroom. Instead, I had to share a toilet and shower with those in the backpacker room. Also, the shower had seriously low water pressure...

Hi, Thank you for choosing our place to stay in. On our website it says that the Budget room has a shared bathroom, I am sorry that you misunderstood. All our Standard, Luxury, Superior, Deluxe and Executive rooms have en-suite Bathroom. The shower normally has good pressure and we never heard any comments about the the hot water not being...

Large, clean rooms, huge breakfast, great AC and room service. My husband and I are currently staying here with a 13 month-old baby and are all managing to get a good night's sleep. This is the best value for money in a prime location in Dar es Salaam. You cannot beat it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A small hotel on the Msasani Peninsular. Only 10 km from the city centre, a ten minute walk to Coco Beach and right behind the famous Tinga Tinga market. There is now an inside and outside area for the bar and restaurant. You can choose to sit under the stars or if it is too hot you can cool off in the Air-conditioned lounge. We have a Live band on Thursday's and a DJ on Saturday's. The bar is busy and has a good vibe, the restaurant is well known for the BBQ, Sea Food Platters, Steak Flambe and Fajita's. There are also several restaurants and shops within walking distance. The atmosphere is laid back and a great place to meet other travelers and people living in Dar es Salaam. ... more   less
