Great stay at Mediterraneo Hotel in route to interior of Tanzania. Great location right on the beach, away from hustle and bustle of Dar. Service was friendly and efficient. Grounds beautiful. Food was great, cold beer and live band on our visit. Room was fairly comfortable all around, with air conditioning and flatscreen TV with decent selection of channels. Bathroom...

I discovered this place in 2006, returned in 2013, and visited again in Feb 2016. I love it. The hotel, which is right on the Indian ocean, was started up by an Italian family many years ago and the matriarch is resident with local staff. The whole place is on one level and has sumptuous gardens which are beautifully kept....

Unlike the restaurant (see my separate review), the hotel is something very average. The room including bathroom is perfectly good (although there were a couple of holes in my mosquito net, and the towels were more like oversize tea-towels than the usual fluffy kind). But the lacklustre service was a bit disappointing. I had to wait 30 minutes to check...

We stayed two nights in this excellent place to relax during our trip in Tanzania. Ths is a must see place to lounge, to have diner and breakfast and to sleep, nearby the beach, swimming pool and up-to-date lodges. Very pleasant staff.

I've stayed at the Mediterraneo four times now and, so long as you have the time to make a get-away from downtown, this is the perfect place for the business traveler to recharge batteries after a hectic trip. Finding great accommodation at a reasonable price is always tricky proposition in eastern and southern Africa. This hotel fits the bill. Strictly...

I stayed in this hotel for 5 days. The room was clean and neat; and in line with expectations. The hotel staff was very friendly and the food at the restaurant was very good. Overall a good place to stay for a few days. Its not near any "attractions" but ideal if you want to get away and rest.

What a wonderful recommendation, very well appointed, spacious, quiet location, own restaurant, pool and right by the sea. Dining overlooking the water and lovely grounds to wander through. This hotel and restaurant is highly recommended. Staff very attentive and friendly.

Trying to find a nice hotel in Dar is a tricky thing, but the Mediterraneo is it. If the traffic isn't too bad, it's 40 mins from the airport, but the journey is well worth it. After a long flight, to sit by the Indian Ocean and feel the warm breeze, while sipping cocktails and eating delicious food in comfortable...

Great view .. The have lounge chairs just at the edge of the ocean that you sink into and watch the waves and happy people swimming and playing in the ocean .. The service is kind of slow though ( I guess like most TZ places)..

The rooms were very clean, clean beddings and towels provided daily. Floor surfaces were clean. Easy access to the beach. Very interesting décor. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast served was satisfactory. There is need for the restaurant to provide local foods.
