We had a delightful stay in this beautiful riad. It is an oasis of calm in a hectic and bustling city. Situated in an authentic quarter of the ancient medina the riad is within easy walking distance of all the historic sites. There is also a very convenient taxi 'drop off' point situated a few minutes walk away. the riad...

The Riad really is a calm, welcoming place and my room had two twin beds, three large windows and a large modern bath with a good shower and ample amenities. Three public areas (courtyard, roof and upstairs lounge) all provided places to enjoy the plants and sunshine. Everything was spotless and necessities like filtered water and extra blankets were handy....

we were fortunate to be able to have the riad to ourselves - just like a luxury private home in the old medina with wonderful caring staff. I would highly recommend staying at Porte Royal if your budget is at that level. The interiors are sparkling white with beautiful pieces of wall art to compliment the magnificent building. Being fully...

I was very impressed with the organisation before we arrived as Philipa will email you to prearrange everything for you from airport transfers to trips and evening meals. As two young girls staying in Marrakech for the first time we were a little nervous and I think we could have felt a little overwhelmed when we first arrived in the...

Our stay at Riad Porte Royale was nothing short of wonderful. As two young women traveling alone, we were slightly nervous about coming to Morocco. Philipa was extremely informative over email, and ensured we would have private transportation to and from the airport. There was also an enormous homemade breakfast waiting for us upon our arrival! Lahcen (the Riad's manager)...

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at the Riad Porte Royale, inside the old medina. The "face" of the Riad, Lahcen, was very helpful and welcoming... The rooms were very clean and cozy and homey!!!! Breakfast was good and fulfilling. If ever I return to Morocco I would defiantly stay here again.

If you are looking for a Riad in the medina, then look no further. You are steps away from the hustle and bustle of the old town - and yet it's really quiet - even when relaxing on the rooftop terrace. The manager, Lahcen is fantastic and was always on hand with any further information needed - and to accompany...

Secreted away in the magical alleys in the NW corner of the old city, behind a (marked, thankfully) door, Riad Porte Royale is a beautiful refuge amid the hectic pace around. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. The upper terrace is breezy and spacious. And best of all, Phillipa and Lassan, who were our hosts, were absolutely delightful and saw...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We practise ethical tourism and are legally registered as a 'Maison d'Hôtes Deuxième Catégorie' no.288/2015. Featured in the international press and guidebooks, Riad Porte Royale was build around 250 years ago close to the ramparts in an historic quarter of the medina, a short walk to major monuments, the souks, the Majorelle Garden and well-known restaurants. Renovated with traditional materials, the white walls are accented with rugs, rare textiles and artefacts from the caravan routes of Africa and Asia. All five bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, and the pure Moroccan style make the atmosphere dreamy and zen. Breakfast is included, Wi-Fi and filtered drinking water is free and our Bio shower gel and shampoo contains argane. Meals at the riad, transport and excursions can be arranged. Riad Porte Royale is a perfect place to unwind with a drink or mint tea after a day of sensory overdose in Marrakech! ... more   less

“The Kilim room is my favourite, but I can't explain why! Over the past eight years I think I, or friends, have slept in each of the rooms. The ground floor rooms are chillier in winter, but also have no need of A/C in summer. That's the beauty of the traditional design and build of this Riad.”

“all the rooms are amazing. We stayed on the first floor to the left of the pool. We enjoyed hearing our group begin to gather so we knew when to get around. It was still very private and we loved putting our feet in the pool after a long day of walking.”
