hi nicole. amalay hotel is in the “ new district“ of marrakech. even there are a lot of shops and restaurant. to jardin marjorell you have to walk perhaps 30 minutes. for the "old center"'its maybe bit long to walk, but for sure it depends how much you are into walking. better to get a cheap cap to go there. but usually in the old district its always very busy and crowded, so amalay is a better place than there...hope it's helpful for you :-)
