Elegant peaceful oasis in the medina of Marrakech, Riad Dar-K is an intimate and contemplative space. This charming guest house, marrying traditional architecture and modernity, inspires calm and serenity. The riad is situated in one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the Medina, and has been lovingly restored. It is near to the Museum of Marrakech and the Medersa Ben Youssef and only one minute’s walk to the back of the souks, and 8 minutes from the main square Jemaa el Fna.

We spent 4 nights at Riad Dar-K and very much enjoyed our stay with Valentin, the French owner and Fatima, the manager of the place. Both of them very helpful with advice on Marrakech, booking restaurants for us etc. The atmosphere is generally just really friendly, low key and welcoming. Our spacious 1st floor room and the Riad in general is very tastefully done, we especially enjoyed the delicious breakfast in the morning sun on the rooftop terrace or hanging out up there with a glass of wine in the afternoon. It was great to get into the quiet Riad after a day in the busy city. Situated very well in the Médina, close to everything. We can definitely recommend staying.

Dear Dierk, Thank you so much for your kind comment about Riad Dar-K which makes us so happy! :-) As new owners of the Riad since end of April 2019, we had a priority objective to bring back the Riad Dar-K to the level of its past reputations and our visitors expectations. And we are really happy about visitors enjoying the result of our hard work to make Riad Dar-K great again ;-) As you kindly noticed, the decoration has been completely renovated and we will continue bringing great improvements during summer, Riad Dar-K is going to be place of heaven! We managed as well some renovations on the terrace and in the rooms (showers for example) in order to offer more comfort to our customers. We hope to see you back soon at Riad Dar-K! Kind regards, The Riad-Dar-K team

After reading previous tripadvisor reviews I thought I’d booked a great Riad... how wrong could I of been..!! My daughter & I have been to Marrakech every year for a decade so we do know the good and the bad. We’ve stayed at some great Riads like Riad Dar Mo’da and Riad Lydines... Riad Dar-K falls very far short of a great Riad. First good things: Food was good, we had breakfast everyday & 1 dinner. Staff were friendly, female staff always pleasant and seemed to care about getting things right for us. Now the bad: The Riad is definitely well past it’s ‘sell by date’, everything looks grubby and well worn, not at all like the photos (which must of been taken a long time ago) where everything looks clean & crisp, we were disappointed at first sight.. We stayed in the Patio Room, which was recommended as a twin & the only available when we booked, it’s on the ground floor around the extremely small courtyard. It’s a long, thin room which in itself was fine but felt very cramped and awful for getting in and out of bed. The room had no storage, just two 12inch recesses in the wall which held 3 hangers, not great for 2 women, so for 4 days we had to live out of our suitcases on the floor..!! Awful in an already cramped room. NO HOT WATER.... Everyday we complained because there was no hot water, within 5 mins of a shower, water went cold, so if you expect to wash your hair in hot water you’ll be disappointed and if 2 of you want a shower within a couple of hours of each other, forget it...!! When we complained to Morcine (the manager) his initial response was “what do you expect me to do about it..!!” after 3 days of complaining and him becoming more & more aggressive, he said the tank was set to 75 litres of hot water, enough for a 2 min shower which he said everyone else was happy with... and if we both wanted a shower we should have them on alternate days..!! The bathroom had mould growing around the sink & the towels were very old smelt disgusting..!! Like dirty dishcloths..!! There was mould growing on the floor and the wall at the right side of the bed and the whole room smelt & felt damp. Finally... as previous reviews have mentioned, other guests and Morcine sat and smoked continually in the courtyard which filled our room with smoke. One evening we got home to guest smoking an enormous fat cigar just outside our window... disgusting for a supposedly ‘no smoking’ hotel. But by this time we were so fed up & Morcine had become so aggressive we just thought it best to keep quiet. Beware... Riad Dar-K is no where near value for money... It may have been great under the previous owners, but those days are gone. It’s not a cheap hostel type Riad (there are many in the medina for around £40 a night) but that’s definitely how it felt to us.... AVOID

Dear Debzizi, thank you very much for your message. From January 2018 to April 2019, the riad has been in the hands of owners who did not care so much about the quality of the service, and the experience of a stay at Riad Dar-K which has always been a reference since 2010. We bought it back in April 2019, and completely renovated the Riad, with full decoration and equipment upgrade. As well, we put great attention to bring back the original spirit of the Riad, an oasis of calm in the very heart of the Medina. As you can see in the comments section from 2019, everybody absolutely enjoyed their stay with us. And I'm very sorry you could not experience Riad Dar-K this way. I would definitely recommend to visit us back, so you can judge by yourself how we completely upgraded the experience and confort level for any of our guests at Riad Dar-K. Hope to see you there soon!

This is a good place to stay - if you want to be in the middle of the old medina. It can be very hard to find and the signage is not helpful. The area is a bit rough with many touts and bored young men hanging around and offering their "help" or service. Be firm when you reject to pay them. The staff in the riad is nice and helpful. The rooms are nice, big, clean and welcoming. Riads in general can be rather noisy and you ofter hear other guests, this one is no exception. There was a lot of telephones ringing until late night on my first night which kept me awake. The breakfast is fine but nothing special. Considering the price and location I'd look elsewhere next time but did enjoy my stay here. The riad charges 20 Euro for arranging a taxi to or from the airport which is a ripoff for the tour to the airport but might be reasonable for the trip from the airport considering the risk of waiting time. You should pay less than half of 20 Euro for a taxi to the airport and it will still be a ripoff.

We stayed in the riad for one night. The service was not very good, with the people working there not very professional. The riad is nice, but we were bothered by a group of noisy guests, which the staff didn’t handle. Smoke from people having a cigarette in the central space came into our room... not something our children appreciated. All in all - not a riad I can recommend.
