Travellers' Choice
The All Inclusive Hotel Riu Tikida Palmeraie, completely refurbished in 2019, is situated only 5 km from the old inner town of Marrakech, a vibrant metropolis with approx. 800000 inhabitants, lying at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. It is, together with Meknes, Fes and Rabat, one of the four Moroccan Royal Cities. Our hotel is set within a 65,000 sq.m. garden and is a true oasis of tranquility amidst the local hustle and bustle. The location is ideal due to its proximity to Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK) is approx. 13 km away. The hotel has 392 comfortably furnished rooms and offers many amenities. 1 outdoor pool, 1 children’s and 1 indoor pool. For the youngest guests, there is the RiuLand Kids Club (for children from 4 to 7 years & 8 to 12 years old), RiuArt atelier and for adults, day and evening entertainment. For lovers of gastronomy, we offer live cooking stations at our main buffet as well as Moroccan and Italian cuisine, 3 bars situated in various areas of the hotel.

Just got back from a week here .The staff are wonderful , managers reception , waiters, bar staff and animation team , such a happy kind bunch of people. The rooms are spacious and the cleaners do a brilliant job , daily cleaning and towel change , they also leave towel sculptures every visit , never had two the same . The food and drink is adequate , repetitive at times , but themed restaurants are really nice .water aerobics and zumba every day , along with darts, bingo ,boules , yoga , your kept entertained all day if you wish .we couldnt fault this hotel

Brilliant holiday, food was lovely and the staff couldn’t do more to ensure a great stay, would definitely return to this hotel. The pool was large and activities around the pool kept everyone in good spirits all of the time we were there.

I always start with the caveat that I can be picky but this hotel is in keeping with other RUI hotels in regards to quality. Firstly the staff make the place they are all so friendly, and yes a little tip does help, but they do go out of their way to help and made our visit very special. Our room was 5156, it was very big with aircon and a circulation fan. Plenty of storage space, a sofa and a large balcony. The shower room was spacious and never an issue with water temp or pressure. OK the towels, although changed every day, had seen better days. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day. The pool is very large, easy access with steps and ramps. Plenty of beds but it wasn't busy and you can grab fresh towels everyday. If you tip the pool guys you will bag yourself some big cushions as well. The food in the restaurants was good quality, nothing exceptional and plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. Not sure about gluten free options etc. Due to the limited capacity the Moroccan and Italian restaurants were not open at the start of our trip and we found out when they did by chance. You have to book the two specialty restaurants and that's the first picky point communication was pretty poor in both activities and what was and not open. A range of drinks in the restaurants although at times the white wine was undrinkable one particular wine was obviously corked and at one point the management was inspecting it. Two outdoor pool bars, one which stayed open to 11pm ( curfew time ) but did not have a lot of seating . The lobby bar was a bit more plush and a bit more comfortable. During our stay the entertainment staff did a show so the lobby bar was closed, ok if you wanted to see the show but not if you wanted a quiet drink. The entertainment staff work incredibly hard with aqua aerobics, zumba, bingo, darts, boules and water volleyball and do try to entice you to get involved. The quality of drinks at the bars was quite poor, I appreciate that not everyone goes just to drink and neither do I, but I like to taste the alcohol a bit. The alcohol level was low even when you politely ask for a little stronger and tip the bar person for the effort. Cocktails were rushed and special ones were bizarre, dark rum in a pina collada and mojito were interesting taste sensations. The hotel has a shuttle bus into the city centre which is free but you have to book. Reception has an ATM but they also do currency conversions. You can book late checkout we had ours until 4pm and it cost circa £32 ( well worth it ) We were fortunate to be able to get away on a holiday and overall we had a great time meeting some lovely people and as I said before its the staff that make the hotel. The hotel could be exceptional if a few minor details are changed and I have no issues recommending it

This was our 2nd stay at the Riu Palmeraie, we had originally booked to go to La Palma but made a last minute switch when the volcano erupted to come back to this hotel and we are very happy we did! Great price for 11 nights. The hotel is quite large, and centres around the main pool which was a nice cool temperature to cool off from the heat (around 31-37 every day) in October and not freezing luckily! The rooms are lovely, with air con, good bathroom facilities and large beds and a seating area. The maids did a great job every day. The food in the hotel was good, especially for a 4 star all inclusive at the price we paid. The main restaurant on an evening is lovely with good service, the best food night in there was the Asian night with lots of good sushi and a really good chicken curry. There was always lots of options from Tagines, pasta, fish, meat, salad and deserts. Breakfast and lunch were pretty similar every day in the restaurant next to the pool. Wine was poor so we often got a dash of lemonade in the white - the gin was much more palatable, and some cocktails were nice. Seemed to be a better quality at the lobby bar compared to pool bar. Much better coffees were served at the lobby and pool bar, with the coffee machine at the restaurant not being that nice. Others have said the a la carte restaurants were shut, but we found they opened once or twice a week (due to less guests staying at the hotel) - just ask at reception to book in. We ate in the Moroccan restaurant and it was great. We didn’t feel the need to try the Italian as we ate out the hotel a few times in Marrakech centre, using the shuttle bus & taxies to get around. There is so much to see in Marrakech, and the hotel is a great base to retreat back to after busy days and nights in the city. We got treatments in the spa which was okay, but slightly pricey compared to what you could find elsewhere in Marrakech and had better experiences in other hotels (maybe the treatments we bought were just a wrong choice but they were still around £100 for two people!) Evening entertainment consisted of a relaxing vibe in the lobby bar, or a more lively vibe outside with live music which normally ended in a bit of dancing with the amazing entertainment team. One evening they put on a fun show in the theatre (the first since covid) which they have plans to increase up to more nights a week as they rebuild the schedule. I think what really makes this hotel shine more than others I’ve stayed in though is the staff. All staff went out of their way to give you the best experience possible - even though they all visibly work very long days and put in lots of effort. At every turn I was greeted with a smile and a hello, from passing the maids in the corridor in the morning, to the bar staff at the pool and lobby, to the restaurant staff and the animation team. I wish I could remember all the names of people who asked how my day had been, remembered my drinks order and laughed when I wanted something different from a gin, put smiley faces on my coffee with chocolate, or made sure I was happy with my food - but the list would be miles long! The animation team in particular were amazing. We didn’t do many activities apart from morning Yoga but they all befriended us, learned our names and chatted to us every single day. Bob (Youssef) in particular was really great and became our friend along with Hassan, Aissa and Oumaima and the rest of the team (Can’t remember /list all their names!) but they are an asset to the hotel and to Riu. This is the first time I’ve returned to a hotel twice, and I would probably come back again.
