Four of us were booked in for 4 nights but on arrival we discovered that they only had room for 2 of us. My husband and I were taken to a riad next door which was OK but not as good and we weren't offered anything in compensation. Next day we were able to check in to our proper room but not until 15.00. All the staff were very friendly and helpful but service could be a bit slow at times. Breakfast was good although not very inspiring and if we asked for more of anything we got it. Our complimentary meal was good but not as good as nearby restaurants. The actual building was lovely and felt very authentic. It was clean and comfortable - a real oasis amidst the grot of the medina. The roof was disappointing and shabby and the view mainly of rubbish on other people's roofs. The pool was empty and not big enough for swimming or sitting in anyway.

Dar Alhambra is truly an oasis in the midst of madness. I would recommend this riad to everyone.
Hamid was such a great host. Everything was impeccably clean. The food at Dar Alhambra was simply delicious. If you do want to eat at the riad you must pre order FYI. Quite apart from everyone working there being amazingly helpful, the building itself is a wonder to witness too. The place is beautiful..in fact, breathtakingly beautiful. The rooftop has a view like no other. The Ben Youssef mosque is next door and listening to the call to prayer was one of my personal highlights.
What I will say is that whilst the riad itself is luxurious, the location of the riad is not near all the luxury hotels- it is inside the Medina - so don't expect that holiday where you don't need to be aware - you WILL encounter stepping out of the door into the potential mayhem of this end of the souks- a very different mayhem to the Instagrammer and general vlogger 'mayhem'. Also... because of its unique location you have to walk a little when you get your transfer from the airport. Its nothing to be concerned about but when we did it we didn't know so was a little unnerving at the time.
Basically, I would say that this is a very 'real' Marrakech experience, whilst staying in the most beautiful setting.

We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Dar Alhambra. This is a very traditional riad, in true Moroccan style – architecture, fixtures, etc. The riad is kept immaculately clean by the constantly working and industrious cleaning lady, and while the staff is small (around 3 people), they were always extremely helpful and friendly. I always felt safe and secure inside the riad, despite the noise and craziness of the medina right outside the door. The air conditioning in our room worked great even on the hottest summer days in Marrakesh. The breakfasts were good and consistent – consisting of freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, coffee and tea, and French and Moroccan pastries. However, my one complaint might be that after a few days I craved a bit more variety (perhaps some olives, white cheese, eggs, etc.) The riad’s location is a bit difficult to get to, but this can be said about most riads in the medina. However, once we got our bearings, after a few days, it was not a problem. We just walked to Bab Touhgzout, about 10 minutes away, and there we were easily able to pick up a taxi at any time of the day or evening. Overall, I can warmly recommend Riad Dar Alhambra as a true Moroccan experience. It may not be as flashy and fancy as some of the more touristy riads, but it is clean, safe and lovely.

Riad Dar Alhambra is a nice, welcoming and relaxing place to stay and enjoy while you visit Marrakech. Is not only a place to sleep at, but a place to feel like at home.
Smail, the guy who is in charge of your daily needs, is always kind, helpful and trying to make your stay enjoyable (thank you for everything). Not only Smail but everyone we met there, really nice and helpful. The place, a traditional riad, to let you know where people use to live at Marrakech. An oasis to relax and enjoy your stay at Marrakech after long hours at the street bazar or nearby monuments.
I would strongly recommend this riad and undoubtedly return whenever I go back to Marrakech.

Thank you! Smail is very pleased to help our guests, and also speaks French and English which is an added bonus!
Magnificent 16th-century Riad, a haven of peace in the very heart of the Medina, lovingly restored in the pure Moroccan tradition - painted cedar ceilings, sculpted stucco, zelliges, marble floors...Impeccably More clean, all rooms with private bath, and air conditioning. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Superb 360 view of the Medina, the Koutoubia and the snow capped Atlas mountains. One hundred yards from the Medersa Ben Youssef and the Marrakech museum, 15 minutes from Place Jemaa al Fna. Excellent cuisine! Less
