The Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa garners mixed reviews; many guests appreciate the attentive service and professional staff, though others point out instances of inefficiency. The hotel's beautiful grounds, pools, and private beach are highlights, yet some visitors encounter service inconsistencies. While rooms are generally praised for their cleanliness and recent renovations, there are grievances regarding air conditioning and misrepresented views. Its tranquil beachfront location is popular among those seeking both relaxation and proximity to central Agadir. However, the value proposition is often questioned due to high prices for services and dining.

Those like us who are used to this hotel will not be disappointed with the changes underway. The rooms that were dark have become light and of better design. The restaurant has evolved in the right direction with the creation of a Spanish restaurant, and impeccable quality, hygiene and cleanliness of the breakfast and beach restaurant with an omnipresence of the chef with fine care for guests. Excellent service from all hotel staff. The beach is always as nice and one of the outdoor pools is heated. Small flats to rectify: the safes of the rooms are not sealed and the flow of water from the showers is insufficient.

Our stay in Agadir was simply fantastic and undoubtedly deserves ten stars! The beautiful park-like complex has enchanted us every day – a true oasis of peace and relaxation. The fantastic location right by the sea was another highlight that made our holiday perfect.

The luxurious day beds on which we could fully enjoy every day deserve special praise – pure comfort and relaxation in a perfect ambience. The high-quality facilities of the entire resort also left nothing to be desired and were reflected in every detail.

Culinary we were pampered at the highest level. The buffet restaurant offered an extremely diverse selection of food, with daily changing mottos and a consistently high-quality standard selection, including pizza, pasta and a varied salad buffet. The price of 42 € is quite justified given the extensive offer. However, we could not read the price clearly at first, which meant that we felt a bit more comfortable in the other restaurants – the Spanish specialty restaurant and the beach bar – overall, as the choice of food there was more transparent for us.

We were particularly impressed by the breakfast buffet in the buffet restaurant. The choice was simply overwhelming and offered a huge variety of freshly prepared food to suit every taste. The service was outstanding – the team read almost every wish from our lips and made sure we could start the day perfectly.

Another highlight of our stay was the excellent housekeeping team. Not only were the rooms cleaned daily with great care, but also in the evening was turned again. The towels were changed and fresh water was provided – a service that really impressed us and which we greatly appreciated.

However, what really made this stay unforgettable was the exquisite service. We would like to say a big thank you to Rashid, Ishmael, Mohammed and the chef Jacques. Their professionalism, friendliness and attention to detail have made our stay a very special experience.

We can fully recommend this resort in Agadir and are already looking forward to our next visit!

I had an amazing stay at this Inn.

We are regulars at Sofitel thalassa sea and spa . This is the fifth time we've been here.
This year we got a room in the renovated part of the Inn (063) and we were pleasantly surprised by the brightness and space of the rooms as well as the modern and clean style of the new decoration.
The room was spacious, bright, clean and very comfortable.
This Inn was already the best Inn in Agadir and the surrounding area. However, these renovations bring an even more attractive touch.

The cleanliness of the rooms in particular, outdoor areas and common areas is very appreciable.

The setting is simply beautiful, with breathtaking views of the ocean and Agadir Bay and refined decoration. The Inn is a real haven of peace, a timeless bubble from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is a special care brought to the environment. The work of the gardeners is remarkable. the vegetation makes this hotel a peaceful and lush oasis in the dunes.
It is important to note that this is the only hotel that has direct access to the beach without having to cross any road or path.

The staff was extremely attentive, always available and smiling, which made our experience even more enjoyable.
Indeed, the benevolence of the room staff, under the direction of Mr Omar, makes it feel like home during your stay.

What to say about the excellent dishes, at the restaurant le Market, cooked by the chef and his team. A culinary journey that would delight the most demanding palates. The choice is varied.
I cannot thank the service staff and Mr Mohamed for their kindness and dedication to the needs of my 3-year-old daughter at meals. We have always been received with kindness and courtesy.
The buffet breakfast offered a wide range of fresh and local products.

The swimming pools (including one heated ) and spa were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

At the reception, the professionalism and smiles of Mrs Fatima and Mrs Meryem make it possible to make the Check-in a home arrival and to smooth the Check-out. Thank you to them for fixing our little worries.

I recommend this Pension without hesitation, whether for a romantic stay, with family or friends. Whether it’s overnight or long-term, you never get bored.

I can’t wait to go back!
Thanks to the Sofitel!

We are staying here at the moment for a week. We have a lovely comfortable suite which is being beautifully serviced daily by Zafira, who is ensuring we have daily complimentary coffee & milk etc… and leaving beautifully designed towels on the bed - today beautiful swans.
The breakfast is tasty with lots of fresh fruits and sweet delicacies. You can ask for any type of eggs to be cooked.
We ate the 1st night in Le Corail restaurant which was good (albeit here Paella Valenciana is seafood Not chicken & rabbit like my husband thought he was ordering which he eats regularly in Valencia Spain !)

All in all we think it’s a lovely hotel , staff are friendly & food is good & room is fabulous. Our only gripe is two things : a lot of people around the pool seem to be on their phones constantly having loud conversations - we want peace when relaxing around the pool we don’t want to be forced to hear people chatting loudly on the phone / FaceTime .

Finally - why are you charging ridiculous amounts for water
Surely as a 5* hotel you should be providing your guests with enough drinking water free of charge in such a hot climate - or at least a price that is not extortionate!

My wife, 9 year old daughter, 26 year old daughter and I spent two weeks at Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 period. The hotel is amazing. We had a room with a separate bedroom and sea view (room 178), which was very spacious even with the sofa bed unfolded.

We ate at the three restaurants in the hotel. The first, Le Coral, offers excellent Spanish cuisine. The second, La Plage, located right next to the beach, offered delicious seafood (I don't eat meat). Finally, the main restaurant, where we had breakfast, offered buffet meals. The breakfast was fantastic, as were the dinners. However, I must mention that dining outside the hotel was significantly cheaper (about 50% less).

My only “reservation” about our stay is the service, which we found slow (and sometimes unresponsive). It was below expectations for a hotel of this standing. Until we started tipping the waiter, the lifeguard at the pool, the waiter looking after us by the pool, the housekeeper, etc. (another guest at the hotel had advised us to do this). And our experience changed overnight. Our waiter became extremely attentive to our needs at breakfast and dinner. The lifeguard even booked us deckchairs by the pool. Ordering drinks or food at the pool has become a real pleasure. In summary, if you go, tip from the beginning and you will enjoy your stay to the fullest (we gave 500 dirhams per person for the two weeks).

In conclusion, I highly recommend this hotel. The location is exceptional. A special mention for our morning waiter, Mohammed Sahli, who really took care of us.

2nd stay in Agadir, after being at the Royal Bay we tested the Thalassa for its more modern architecture and more direct access to the beach.
The rooms are newer however the decoration is quite oriental and dark (many black especially in the bathroom which is not the most adequate to put on makeup in particular), bedding always very satisfactory, water deposited daily (little flat the hair dryer that is in the room plugged to the wall and in a drawer forcing to dry in the room sitting on a stool).
A very large morning buffet (small preference for the royal bay on this point regarding decoration and the exteriors a little more cozy). All the staff is at the top, thanks to Mohammed Bahi at the pool bar in particular! The beachfront restaurant is great, possibility to dine feet in the sand, dj and sunset. The exteriors and the 2 pools are beautiful with beds everywhere, we do not walk on feet. Access to the beach of the sofitel is easy however it adjoins the public beach below (in the photos the beach is empty which was not the case during our stay, although the beach is large there were as many people as in the south in summer). Note that the hotel is being renovated, we were able to visit a renovated room that will be more in the spirit 'Thalassa', much brighter and where the black disappeared. We'll be back!

The Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa is currently undergoing a rejuvenation programme (which guests will only notice in passing). The first rooms, two of the three restaurants and the large garden with pool area have been perfectly transformed into an oasis of calm (the word oasis actually applies to the garden and the transition to the beach). The previously rather dark interior now shines bright and friendly (not necessarily Moroccan, but the beach/sea character has been emphasised). There are many cosy corners, especially outside, where you can unwind undisturbed. The cuisine is very good and offers a varied and tasty international cuisine. The staff are friendly, but could be more attentive at one point or another (e.g. at breakfast). Once the refurbishment is complete (including the main restaurant, entrance area and spa) this hotel will certainly have an even greater appeal.

Due to its location away from the hustle and bustle of the package hotels at the end of the beach promenade in Agadir, it is certainly a very good choice for a stay here.

We do not choose to stay in a Sofitel by chance..we know that we will be satisfied. But now...
The welcome of all staff is perfect, without exception.
The rooms are comfortable, the decor is simple and classy.
Several swimming pools including one heated, a very well equipped gym open from 6am to 10pm, a magnificent SPA and a special mention for Executive Chef Jacques who puts his experience, his requirement and his personal touch at the service of the 3 restaurants.
The Beach is one of them and deserves your attention. Quality dishes with fresh products will be offered. A chef present at every meal to make sure you have a good time.
Finally, do not forget to taste the MILLEFEUILLE du buffet which is an absolute treat, thanks to the pastry chef for variations Nos. 2, 3 and 4 😉 and to Ashraf for his generosity and humor.

I would definitely recommend this property.

When you enter the hotel you feel very quickly changed and zen.
The hotel which was already very beautiful has become magnificent since the work done in the gardens, a real little garden of Eden.
The prestige suite is very beautiful. The rooms are also beautiful and very functional with a tray of Moroccan fruit and spoilers on arrival.
The heated pool is a real plus in winter.
Everything is done to ensure that guests get the most out of their stay and the staff is always there to take care of you.
I cannot personally mention all the people who made our stay a wonderful one (I did not remember all the names) but thank you to Omar and Tayeb who took care of our room.
Very nice restaurants, by the sea or by the fireplace for the Coral with a singer/guitarist we liked to listen to.
Thank you to Chef Jacques and all his great team who knew how to awaken our taste buds and serve us with attention and again thank you Jacques for this wonderful meal on Friday night good and very hearty.
What about the spa and the kindness of his team both at the reception and for the treatments? a real happiness ....
A Director very present with his customers and attentive.
In short a nice hotel with a staff who do everything to make you feel good.
We highly recommend it and talk about it regularly to our friends.
It was our 3rd stay and we intend to renew this luxury and quiet break as soon as possible.
Why go further when for a stay starting on January 26, we had a very sunny and hot week?
Delphine and Dan C.

I have always held the Sofitel brand in high regard, which is why my girlfriend and I chose to book our stay at Sofitel Agadir Thalassa Sea & Spa. Unfortunately, our recent experience fell significantly short of our expectations due to a series of service and accommodation issues.

Upon arrival, we were met with a non-functional air conditioning unit in our room. Despite multiple reports and the intervention of technicians who set it to 16 degrees, the room temperature remained uncomfortably high. This issue persisted until we were moved to another room after seven nights, where the air conditioning also failed to cool the room effectively.

On our second day, we faced the inconvenience of having no hot water, forcing us to take cold showers. This was not the start we had hoped for.

We encountered further issues with basic amenities. On our first evening, there was no ironing board or hair dryer in the room. Although room service brought an ironing board fairly quickly, the hair dryer took over an hour to arrive (when we were ready to go out for the evening and waiting). When we changed rooms, we had to order them again and it happened for a second time. Additionally, the coffee supplies were not replenished regularly, and on one occasion, the cream provided was off – far below the standards expected from a Sofitel hotel.

A particularly distressing issue was the nightly mosquito bites we suffered, exacerbated by the need to sleep on top of the duvets due to the high room temperature. One severe reaction caused my girlfriend's eye to swell shut, significantly impacting her comfort and well-being.

We had booked and paid for a room with a "Full Ocean View," but were initially given a "Side View of Ocean" room (see the photo). After seven nights and multiple complaints, we were eventually moved to the correct room type, which we should have received from the start.

Lastly, our relaxation was disrupted by ongoing refurbishment within the hotel. The constant noise of angle grinders and hammering severely detracted from the tranquil atmosphere we expected.

These issues combined to detract significantly from the relaxing and comfortable stay we had anticipated. The culmination of ineffective air conditioning, mosquito bites, lack of hot water, missing amenities, and insufficient room supplies caused daily inconveniences and discomfort. Moreover, being given a room with a side view of the ocean instead of the full ocean view we had paid for made us feel shortchanged.

Given these experiences, I would like to share that I have already lodged a complaint with Expedia. Despite their efforts to reach out to Sofitel Agadir Thalassa on my behalf, they reported that the management team was unresponsive. This lack of communication has been disappointing and has further tarnished my impression of the Sofitel brand. Therefore, I am writing this review to seek a resolution and to ensure future guests do not encounter similar issues.

Hi there - apologies for not replying to this message previously. It’s probably too late by now but I’ll answer anyway! It was pretty reasonable on site - I spent about £500 over the week between two people. Given the quality of the hotel, it was worth it and as the included breakfast was so filling, we weren’t left hungry. Sorry again for not seeing your message and if you did go, hope you had a great time.
