When I got here late at night, I got received by a very polite guy who recommended me where to have some food and showed me the hostel. We spoke for a long time, and told me a lot of interesting things too. The next day before leaving to Utila I got the chance to meet the owner who even... More

I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews as I've had a really nice stay. The owners mentioned renovations so I have a feeling they've improved on whatever problems they had. Some complaints I've read (dodgy internet connection, no hot water, no running water, ants) are problems I have faced in all sorts of places in Central America and usually... More

We arrived and just needed a place to crash, wow it was a dump and I've been in plenty around the world. The paint was falling off the walls the sheets had stains on them, the pillow was like a bag of marbles, the ac worked but was plugged in via open wires. The dead bolt in the door was... More

Roof leaked. Everything wet. I'm the only one here, the staff couldn't care less. Place looks like it should be a great resource and backpacker hub, but it's as well staffed and patroned as the hotel from the shining! My recommendation? Stay anywhere but here. On the plus side, WiFi works decently.

This place is way overpriced. The place has a new owner on a new (very old building) location and is just using the name of the previous, very nice, hostel to get clients. There is no kitchen, no area to chill out and even the wifi sucks. Oh, and you don't even get sheets. Don't go there!

So we stayed for one night here. The rooms were fairly clean. We had a 3 bed dorm facing the street. It was a little hot but when we asked for another fan the owner was accomodating. The hot water didn't work but it's hot in la ceiba so no dramas there. We didn't book any tours through them and... More

Not a good choice. Room was fairly expensive. AC barley did anything to cool down the room. Bed was quite like a rock. Only slept 4 h :( because I was so uncomfortable. Hot showers don't work. The bathroom light switch was on the ceiling... Why, I have no clue but I was too short to reach it so no... More

Came in and the woman at the desk was incredibly unhelpful with normal questions such as: How much does a taxi cost to the ferry and Is there a local bus closeby we can take to the ferry instead of a taxi. Her response was: Is 100 L too expensive for you? My answer : Yes, and what does it... More

Badly maintained and smelly hostel, dodgy feeling while being there. Not sure how they work together with Jungle River, as no reservation came throug and we had to make a new booking there, after we spent the night at banana republic (and they did try to let us pay in advance for services they do not offer). Don't go there... More

As mentioned by others the original place is closed and the address given by google maps is incorrect. Luckily some locals pointed me in the right direction and I found the right place about 3 blocks away. The hostel is reasonably priced and fine to stay for a night while passing through to Utila as Le Ceiba isn't really a... More
