Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here one night after our taxi driver (perhaps fraudulently) drove us to a hostel in our Rough Guide book and it was boarded up. I say fraudulently cos we didn't actually see the sign of the hostel, it was dark and taxi drivers are known to drive trade to hostels where they get a cut).

Place was horrible, but marginally better than Amsterdam next door. Shower didn't work, was just a pipe. Loo and sink stopped working, rarely had water. It was boiling hot, the fans were dangerous, precarious, only worked a bit.

Struggled to find anywhere cheap to eat, went to bed- was really noisy, the net over the windows was torn, kind of place where you didn't want to drop anything on the floor.

Left early the next morning for the ferry to Utila.

Basically, I would say the place is OK for a night, no frills, noisy but safe cos it's full of backpackers.

Watch out for the taxi drivers ripping you off and try not to arrive here too late at night so you can walk around and find somewhere to stay yourself.

Sadly, I hadn't been able to check out trip advisor ahead of arrival but between four of us, we had both a Footprint and Lonely Planet guide both of which said that this hotel/hostel was ok, one of them even stated it had a lovely garden. Both books noted the Amsterdam next door was a little run down (massive understatement).

Ok, it was functional, inexpensive and it served its purpose with regards to getting to the dock in the morning. However, the place looks pretty dingy, we had a good few ants in our bathroom and its next door to a bar/club that plays seriously loud music until 4:00am in the morning, and come 6:30am, a loud TVs starts blasting out. Therefore, unless you are planning on hitting the somewhat shifty looking party district (in which it resides), don't plan on getting much sleep ahead of your early boat across to the Bay Islands (the only reason I can see anyone wanting to stay here for).

As a note to the party-goers...head left on the main road and keep walking...you will come to a really posh looking club that looks out of character. Its about four bucks to enter but most people are dressed to impress and it looks far less shifty than the random bars on the street...apparently its where all the more wealthy locals go.

The accommodation is basic but cheap and quite clean. However, the hotel is next to a bar and disco and there was music playing loudly until 3:30 a.m. If you are on your way to Roatan and you do not need a lot of sleep, the hotel offers value for money.

We made a reservation to the Rotterdam two weeks before the Feria de San Isidro, the big yearly Carnaval and confirmed our reservation with the owner the day before our arrival. However, upon our arrival we found they had booked out all the rooms and all the hotel worker had to say as she spoke to us through the the metal grille of the hotel was "it's not my fault".

She did not accomodate for us, she did not help us find another hotel, she did not cover the taxi costs we wasted to get to the hotel and back. Nothing. It was horribly disappointing to see such a disregard towards travellers in a foreign city when they knew very well most hotels were booked during that weekend.

Ok well not everything, but your a stranger in a strange place. I got to the Hotel/Hostel The Taxi honked his horn and a elderly lady came unlocked the gate. I filled out a minimal amount of paperwork and off to the room.

Was super nice for 3rd world accommodation, I expected the cold water shower, there were two beds one Double and on Single the room was not spotless but the sheets were clean.

The bar around the corner was going till about Midnight and they dont hold back with the volume... I still slept though it.

There were screens on the windows that was a plus and Wifi was included.

I felt safe the gate would be unlocked for each guest. The hotel keepers were police ad provided everything I needed for the night, Fresh towel, Roll of TP and Bar of soap (If I were anywhere else it would have felt like a prison see I was amused some may not have the same reaction to the place. (again with the Safe and Sound aspect of the place.)).

All in all .... I felt BANG for your BUCK it was a real value. For what it cost in most places for a bed in a hostel you got a private room and bath. BANG. SCORE.

BUT Reality check guys - 3RD WORLD COUNTRY - Danger - SAFE - Inhabitable ... is a winner to me.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Roatan. Using the Lonely Planet book it was our first budget experience. Maybe we'll stick to the midrange options. This room had 3 beds crammed in. Two singles and one double. The floor looked but didn't feel clean, I chose to keep my my flops on. Bathroom screen was broken and had a few spiders. We kept the door closed as i was covered in mosquito bites already. Mattress was foam (not memory foam) and sunk in. They did have two fans in the room which made the sticky heat bareable and by morning the room was nice and cool.

For the price (about 300 Lemps) we got what we paid for. Can't argue that. The door locked and the room it self had barred windows and screens! YAY! And double bonus...we had dinner at an awesome resturaunt right down the street. Mango Tango i think. Enjoy!

I came here over 13 years ago and it was fine. At that time, Jungle River Rafting was giving rides up to the mountains and the river from there. Your standard budget hotel in Honduras, close to the beach. I recently came here and it was even cheaper than when I came years ago. Let me get to the point. I GOT FLEAS staying here. That's all you need to know. I poured deet lotion all over my body during the night because I thought I was getting mosquito bites. I was wrong as I found out in the morning full of bites. The remainder of my trip was very miserable because I must REALLY be allergic to the bites. I felt sick from all the intense itching that would rotate from one area of bites to the next. You get the picture. ....Also there was a restaurant next door and they were blasting music ALL nite. We had been there earlier in the night for dinner and there was NO ONE there because there was a hurricane and all the power went out in the street. So who was listening to this loud music!?

We checked in to a hostel in the centre of town and check out immediately due to safety issues. When we got to this hotel it looked pretty good so we decided to stay.
The place is safe inside the hotel but the neighbourhood around it is not (especially at night).

The rooms are basic but good. For $15 per night per couple for a double room with a bathroom we were happy.

There were ants in the room which annoyed us every now and again but overall we enjoyed our stay.

The music from the next-door bar was loud but ended at 11:30pm on Monday so we managed to get enough sleep.

They also have a good WiFi connection inside the bedrooms and in the garden (which is very nice to hang out in).

Found this place because of an old lonely planet edition. What a mistake. Though the place is safe, its not clean at al and very noisy, too. This hotel is well located if you are going to take the ferries to Uitla the next day, but you should be advised that your night will not be very pleasant.

Price should be cheaper as service is awful. I really don`t know why lonely planet used to recommend it, but it`s not for real.
