Outstanding setting with breathtaking views of Pico Bonito National Park and Cangrejal River. Walking distance access to hiking trails, river rafting. Awesome birdwatching opportunities, unsurpassable Honduran hospitality provided on site by owners. Private rooms with terrace, lovely tropical gardens. Truly a setting that will generate pleasant memories you will cherish!

Our room was very clean, comfortable with a porch and hammock facing the lush tropical gardens and rain forest. There is a “great room” open to the surrounding jungle with a 40 foot ceiling. Because we stayed for three nights, John picked us up at the ferry dock and brought us back to the bus station with no charge, about a 20 minute drive. Our fantastic breakfast was included, and although there is not a restaurant, Soledad cooked us equally fantastic dinners for a very reasonable cost. We walked a short distance to the swinging bridge to the Pico Bonito national park, and hiked the beautiful loop trail there. We walked a short distance the other way to go rafting from that spot on the Rio Cangrejal with Mosquitio tours, a super fun and exciting time on a gorgeous river. There were a few biting bugs but they were manageable with repellant. We loved the peace of the river sound and the vibe of the hotel.

Spent a couple of nights at John and Soledad Dupuis' Villa de Soledad this month. A more peaceful and relaxing place is very difficult to find. Located in the cloud forest along the Rio Congrejal in the Nombre de Dios national park, the Dupuis' have created a gem. The rural hacienda architecture and open air living areas are comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed morning coffee watching the toucans and oropendolas. Your hosts can help you find adventures to fill your days or you can just chill reading and napping. If you plan to visit the north coast of Honduras, you can't go wrong with a stay at La Villa de Soledad.

Thank you for your kind review! Soledad and I love it when we get travelers from around the World, and better yet, when they live in the nearby Bay Islands and need a nearby place to escape to when they get Island Fever. Hope to see you back this way some time in the not so far future!

What a gem of a hotel! Located in the center of Pico Bonito Park, this hotel was our home base for our visit to Pico Bonito. The hotel itself was very beautiful, clean, comfortable, and just minutes away from Rio Bonito and the El Bejuco Falls trial head. What made our stay here extra special though was just how kind and welcoming the hosts John and Soledad were. John is a natural people person and went out of his way to accommodate us during our stay. And Soledad is an incredible cook and would prepare a large breakfast spread for us every morning including a large platter of fruits and homemade juices. Also, for an extra charge Soledad can prepare lunch or supper for you and the only regret we had during our entire stay was not getting supper prepared every night because wow, can Soledad ever cook!

I stayed here in December 2019 and had a spectacular time. I cannot say enough good things about John and Soledad. They immediately made me feel welcome, and John went above and beyond answering my many questions ahead of time and, ultimately, making me feel much more comfortable traveling around Honduras solo.
The building and rooms are gorgeous! It is like a beautiful oasis in the jungle. I love how open air the place is so it truly feels as though you're utterly surrounded by nature, yet in an extremely comfortable setting. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. I adore how each room has it's own hammock on the porch area, plus lots of other hammocks for use around the property. Breakfasts [and I had two dinners there as well for extra charge] were delicious and very filling.
The location is a very close walk to the river where its easy to swim, and approximately a five minute walk to the start of the trail into Pico Bonito National Park.
I would very highly recommend anyone and everyone stay here, even if you have no intention of hiking in the national park. This is truly one of my favourite places I have ever stayed while traveling around the world because of the wonderful hosts and the atmosphere.

Hi Nicole! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at La Villa de Soledad with the trip advisor community. Soledad and I enjoyed having you as our guest. We love meeting people from around the world and helping them make the best of their visit to Honduras. I hope that you are fine during these difficult times in the world. Honduras shut its borders a few week ago, and there are practically no tourists in the country as of now. Hopefully its all for the better! Make sure you take care and practice social distancing! We are enjoying a peaceful time with toucans flying all around during the day. Yesterday I spotted a mot mot. Guess I am going to turn into a birdwatcher these days. It seems like a good way of keeping myself busy! Hope to have you back some time in the future!

This is an ideal place for a relaxing getaway, with tons of options for upgrading to the more adventurous activities available in the area. The owners are extremely accomodating and while they say there isn't technically a restaurant, the quality of the meals is excellent and the food is delicious. The location feels very remote, but is within a few minutes walking distance of the Centro de Visitantes Pico Bonito hiking trails to the west and a bar and restaurant to the east - though you may not feel the need to go that far. The villa is open air but immaculately clean and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. John and Soledad go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay, including shuttle service from La Ceiba (and a moto-delivery of forgotten items on the way to the airport). We will definitely be back!

Simply outstanding place in all respects and every way. Breathtaking location, incredibly friendly and helpful hosts John and Soledad and an unforgettable hike up to El Bejuco waterfall with many bird species along the way. We've stayed in a whole lot of places and this ranks near or at the top of the list.

If I could leave a six-star review, I would. This property is phenomenal across all aspects. Great service at a reasonable price and the views from the hotel are breathtaking. There are also a wealth of activities to try in the area, with the waterfall hike being a must-do. Breakfast is included, of course, but lunch and dinner are offered if you prefer to eat the hotel. There are several other options for food and drinks within walking distance. If you're in the La Ceiba area or anywhere remotely close to the Cangrejal, please carve out some time to visit this lovely property!

We have spent a week at Villa Soledad and had a wonderful time with the family that runs the property. The grounds are meticulously kept and the landscape is beautiful, full with tropical trees, flowers and orchids. Simply from the hammocks on the property we were able to observe hummingbirds and toucans. The location is great for hiking in the National Park or for other activities. Beautiful lodging facilities, clean as a whistle and delicious breakfasts. We've had an amazing week and look forward at returning!

John and his wife Soledad are the best hosts you could ever ask for! The property is beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice. The location is perfect as many activities are within walking distance. Also, John always offered us free rides to meals and activities. The breakfasts (included at no charge) and meals we had were incredible at a very fair price. We stayed in both Roatan and the b&b and honestly wished we spent more time in La Ceiba as there were so many activities to do in the area and the scenery is just second to none.

We had such a wonderful stay. The location and accommodations were beautiful. John and Johnny were both very friendly and made our time in Honduras much more enjoyable. They helped us with figuring out some logistical parts of our journey and thereby made everything smoother. One night we asked if they minded making us a simple meal and it ended up being one of the best of our trip. Swimming in the river and hiking in the jungle are very special experiences that we had here.
