Detailed Reviews

The most fantastic location, set on the river cangrejal. This place seems to attract the right kind of clientele ( ie considerate backpackers ).
It's the right side of rustic. You can just chill, hike, raft or swim. As it is far away from anywhere walkable, you are required to take your meals there. ( there is no opportunity to store, prepare one's own food). Expect to spend approximately $25 per day if you have three meals. Evening meal is taken communally- which is a fantastic idea.
You pay in cash or card( +4%) when checking out.
Kathy, who runs the Lodge cares about her staff and guests.

JRL is a hidden gem. Our family of three (2 adults / 1 teen) stayed here three nights and thoroughly enjoyed each day. The whitewater rafting and hike are lead by outstanding guides with a great sense of humor. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful with everything.
This is a place we recommend you don’t miss.

Rustic jungle lodge on the river with private and dorm rooms. Menu is limited however what is served is very good. You can arrange hiking and rafting provided there’s enough people. Wifi is only in common areas. Transportation to and from the lodge can be arranged.

Located on the banks of Rio Cangrejal, this is a great lodge to stay at an explore the river through rafting, swimming or by exploring the nearby waterfalls/jungle. Although sometimes a bit chaotic, the staff is super friendly and prices are very reasonable! Would definitely recommend making your way down to this little piece of paradise from somehat messy La Ceiba.

We stayed four nights at the Jungle River Lodge which overlooks the beautiful Rio Cangrejal and Pico Bonito national park. Our stay was relaxed and we enjoyed swimming in the natural rock pools at the lodge, swimming in the river, and taking in the amazing scenery and wildlife. Elvin and his family who run the lodge were great, very friendly and welcoming, and there was a very chilled vibe to the place. They arranged transport, tours and food for us. On one of the days we went rafting with Juan which was really fun, and Juan was a great teacher. We would recommend this lovely place to anyone visiting La Ceiba.
