Excellent staff (Victor was so helpful, attentive and lovely), amazing food, great value for money, very peaceful. A backpacker's heaven and the best/most luxurious hostel I have stayed in in Guatemala (and possibly Central America).

My partner and I stayed at the Round House for two nights in September 2016. We wish we could have stayed longer! As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Haime who helped carry our heavy bags and gave us an extensive tour of the hostel. The grounds are beautifully kept with beautiful plants, trees, walkways, intricate wooden furniture...

We planned to stay at Finca Tatin but the owners told us it was all booked, so they sent us to Round House. Honestly, this couldn't be better. Round House is as nice as Finca Tatin, but cheaper and smaller. Also, all the staff is very welcoming and helpful, they manage to keep this relaxing ambience running all the time....

The people are the nicest people and make this place such an enjoyable experience. You are met with smiles and treated like family. If you are looking for a place to relax and disconnect from the world for awhile there is no better place. You can relax on the river in a hammock and then jump off the deck when...

The Round House has it all, fun and partying, no kids (none while i was there), good service, comfortable rooms (for the price of course, nothing too fancy, yet nothing horrid, great food and perfect location. Morning start with coffee and a nice book at the dock. Sunlight hits perfectly in the morning and lunchtime, and starts to fade towards...

This is definitely the place to stay if visiting the Rio Dulce area. Located on the river it's the perfect place to just relax on the dock and take a swim in the river. Or you can hitch a boat ride into town or kayak if you feel up to it. The staff are great, making you feel totally at...

Reading the reviews brings back memories. I had drinks and diner at the roundhouse in March of 2013. I arrived by sailboat. I can't help but wonder if the master Dutch sailor one traveller mentioned was the man I was sailing with. He was Dutch had a beautiful sailboat and was well acquainted with the owners. I didn't stay in...

The roundhouse has a fantastic location on the river, making it a great base to explore the Rio Dolce from (by kayak, which you can hire for 30q per person per day). The accommodation is pleasant, but very open, so not ideal if you are squeamish about bugs and the like. The family style meals were nice and generous, and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roundhouse is a social place with family-style dinners. We're located right on the beautiful Rio Dulce in the rain forest. The canyon, caves and hot springs are all nearby. Swim, hike, kayak, sunbathe or just take a hammock and watch the river life. We've got a great book exchange and enough hammocks to read. Or if you're up for a drink: there is also a well-stocked (Tequila!) bar. ... more   less
