En route to Lago Atitlan, an American ex-pat we met in Guatemala City told us that the Posada de Santiago was a "slam dunk" as the best choice for lodging at the Lake. And based on my time at this special hotel, I can't imagine there's a better place to stay, either at Lago Atitlan or anywhere in Guatemala, for...

The cabins big, the restaurant is delicious, and it's all surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Oh, and the front desk staff was extremely accommodating. All around an awesome hotel. Very easy to catch a tuk tuk or pickup into downtown Santiago, which is a sweet city in and of itself. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone not turned away by...

I just got back for a 10 day trip around Guatemala and the Posada de Santiago was by far my favorite stay. The cottages are lovely, we throughly enjoyed making nightly fires in the fireplace. The dining room is fantastic, and I'd say serves some of the best food in all of Guatemala. The people working here are so warm...

We had the pleasure of enjoying all the Posada had to offee. It is nestled on the hillside overlooking beautiful Lake Atitlan and the volcano. Our cottage was a spa ious 3 bedroom two bath, featuring a fireplace, filtered wafer, hammocks on the front porch and endless gardens and views. The resteraunt is top notch. We enjoyed fresh ground coffee,...

I've stayed at the Posada on multiple occasions since 2004. There is a broad range of room styles and prices available, wonderful food, great pool and jacuzzi, etc. The best thing about the place, though, is the staff. Some have been there for over two decades, and the sense of family among them is easily evident. David Glanville, the owner,...

Proprietor Dave has done a fantastic job creating a little bit of paradise on the shore of Lake Atitlan. From the moment I watched his video describing the Posada, I knew I had to come for a visit, and I was not disappointed. We stayed in the beautiful cozy cottages and enjoyed a roaring fire every night. Kindling and firewood...

We had a wonderful stay in one of the stone cottages. The cottage is rustic with a traditional feel, yet extremely comfortable. There was always hot water and we lit the fire in our room each night giving a lovely ambience. The restaurant is superb and reasonably priced. Some of the best food we have had in Guatemala. The hotel...

Reasonably priced and the restaurant food is good. The morning meals were varied and excellent. I would give this a try for a location that is within 200 yards to the lake. A wonderful location and I would stay there again in a return to the area.

We have a travel business and plan to arrange group trips to Guatemala. Posada de Santiago will definitely be on the itinerary. The grounds are well kept and the setting is amazing with gorgeous views of the lake and volcano. The location is ideal with only a short walk to town and various other sites. Of course, tuk-tuks are also...
