Spent the night at Robert's Grove and was satisfied. The ambience is good and the hotel is situated along the beach. The pools are good and appealing. The rooms are good, TV works well but internet was a bit slow for the day. The bathrooms...More
We stayed in a beachfront unit with a kitchen, which made our fishing schedule much easier. The patio and hammock are ideal and the pool areas lovely. The staff is friendly and very helpful, definitely a highlight of the stay. The shuttle in and out...More
Roberts Grove is about 3 hours from Belize City. Make sure you arrange transportation from the airport before you arrive. We had our shuttle waiting and it made it much easier. Roberts Grove is a very nice, quiet resort on the gulf. White sand beach,...More
We visited during the off season so we were not expecting prestine beaches. The accommodations were nice and reasonably prices. The pools and restaurants were good. If you are looking for privacy this is a good spot in June. There were maybe 30 people staying...More
We had an oceanfront suite on the beach. Great view of paradise and people were nice but resort overall is a bit run down. Lots of little things - screen door broken, TV remote didn’t work, no syrup at breakfast, no clean pool towels more...More

I have a house in Placencia so have done both. Flying is quick and the views are great, however the drive is nicer and a car gives you the flexibility to explore on the way. It also makes it easy to get around in the Placencia area. You will most likely end up renting a golf cart while there anyway so might as well get a car from Belize City. The cost will be the same as flying (including your gas) plus the freedom gained! On the drive there is the must see Belize zoo, the inland blue hole, Marie Sharp's hot sauce factory and more.
The road is paved all the way and is almost all in quite good condition as there was a lot of maintenance done this year. Mind the speed bumps! They are all over and meant to slow traffic to keep pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicycle riders safe. It is a 3 hour drive. There are a few single lane bridges too. Keep safe and only pass when you are sure it's safe. Locals will sometimes pass anytime! I still recommend driving. Additionally, you can then stay late in town and back to Robert's Grove whenever you want. No shuttle waiting or calling!

No it isn't, breakfast was included and it was great. The two restaurants and drink options are reasonably priced. We really didn't spend that much money while we were staying there and the food and drinks were a lot better than other all inclusives I usually go to.
