2021 Travellers' Choice Best of the Best
At Victoria House Resort & Spa, the order of the day is quite simply relaxation… Located on Ambergris Caye, the largest of the many offshore Belizean Islands, Victoria House is just 2 miles south of picturesque San Pedro Town. The resort offers a taste of barefoot elegance that keeps guests coming back for more. With just 42 guest rooms ranging in style from thatch roof casitas to beachfront villas with private pools, plantation style rooms and stunning ocean view villas, the only challenge is making the choice of where to hang your swimsuit at night. The Palmilla Restaurant and Admiral Nelsons Bar are renowned for fine food and drink complimented by extraordinary, personalized service. Attention to detail by staff and management alike has garnered accolades from international media and awards from prestigious organizations such as Conde Nast Traveler, Conde Nast Johansens, etc. Even more telling is the number of guests who chose to make Victoria House their destination of choice, year after year.

The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are lovely and the staff was amazing! I've traveled all over the Caribbean and I think this is my favorite stay yet. It's not nearly as expensive as it could be- which I appreciate! And the staff took such awesome care of us, and the resort... I honestly recommend this place (and their excursions- it's the same price as independent setups, but it's wayyyy more reliable). Plus they had a concierge COVID testing service come to the hotel for us, with results in an hour. I promise you will not regret staying here!!

Room Tip: Maybe skip mimosas (wine is pricey on islands) and try the coco-loco instead! And seriously- book...

Food and property is amazing! Would definitely stay here again. Make sure to eat dinner on property because it was the best meal I had! So so good. The staff is super nice as well and I felt safe with the guard on site.

The rooms and public areas are modern and elegant. Not Four Seasons over the top, but the best in Belize. The food was uniformly excellent, and good value for a high-end resort. However, the staff really made the trip: every interaction was….just about perfect.

My husband enjoyed a great week in Belize this summer. It could have ended badly, but we made the best of it. Booking Process: So, I've rarely booked a hotel in the last decade that didn't allow me to book online. I will certainly be more careful next time. We reached out to the hotel to book a room for five nights and received a confirmation email. We arrived at the airport in Ambergris Caye and the hotel claimed we didn't have a room despite our very clear confirmation email. Apparently they had a snafu in their booking process (which I have to imagine happens when things are not automated). The hotel's standard process is to send an unencrypted credit card form for processing around the confirmation email, but we never received one (and would not have completed anyway for security reasons). After some unfortunate behavior at the front desk, and them realizing that we never received a credit card form, they found availability for our five night stay -- moving rooms 2x. Obviously not ideal for a relaxing getaway, but we were there and didn't really have another option. We had heard such great things about the property! Room(s): The rooms were great. They had a very old world vibe, which was cool. I loved the porches on all the rooms. I loved having an outdoor shower for coming off the water. Having experienced three of their rooms, they vary widely in size and layout. You'll know you're in the tropics because of these teeny little bugs that are on literally every hard surface! Food: The restaurant and bar were both incredible. Best meals we had in Belize - hands down. Activities: There really weren't any, but I was there to relax, so I didn't need much! I sat at the pool one morning, and it was lovely. There was no one there, which made it feels so luxurious! There was also no staff for drinks or umbrella support, but I was pretty content. We golf carted into town and booked excursions through Searious Adventures. They were fabulous and picked us up at the hotel dock. Overall: I think it's a good property with some management issues. The restaurant servers were wonderful!

Hi Ismith7897, Thanks for the review of your recent stay with us. Our reservations office did make an error when you initiated the booking process, and I apologize for the inconvenience. As seasoned hosts, our goal is to provide our guests with a memorable, come-back-soon experience. We understand that mistakes happen, and whether it's us, or another party, the magic comes from handling the issue promptly and to the satisfaction of all involved. To explain, we offer prospective guests the option of booking on-line or speaking with a member of our US-based reservation team. Standard procedure is to provide a credit card authorization form (encrypted) and upon payment (full payment is required prior to checking in) send a confirmation email. Unfortunately, in this case, the confirmation email was sent to you before we received payment authorization, and when none was forthcoming, your reservation was cancelled. When you arrived, we were all relived that our front desk team was able to upgrade you, at no cost, to a Villa Master Bedroom and a Beachfront Villa for your stay. As you observe, we do have a wide variety of rooms, and I’m pleased to hear you enjoyed your upgrade. As to the unfortunate behavior at front desk, I believe you’re referring to the requirement that room nights be pre-paid, as would have been the case had our reservations office received your credit card information. So glad to hear you enjoyed our bar and restaurant offerings and staff; our kitchen and service staff will surely appreciate it. Our front of house restaurant and bar staff take care of beach and pool service, and they’re on duty from mid-morning till sunset. I’ve shared your concerns with them: they appreciate feedback, whether it’s of a complimentary nature or constructive criticism. While we don’t offer on-property, group-oriented activities, our dive shop/activities center books any number of exciting excursions through the width and breadth of the country, including the offshore atolls. Searious Adventures is one of our most popular suppliers, so you made a great choice there. Overall, it sounds like you enjoyed yourselves, and I hope you’ll keep us in mind next time you’re thinking of visiting Belize. Brent
