Having traveled extensively, this is at the top of my list of amazing hotels. The reasons are many. The staff was ever helpful and very warm and friendly. The inn is magical. I hope we can return there. Salem, the sweet black cat, pretty much owns the place! He was wonderful too. Our rooms were fantastic (we experienced two of... More

This is our second trip to Apalachicola, but our first stay at the Gibson Inn. It's a lovely, old- fashioned place with wraparound porches and a spacious lobby. The old bar is a nice place for a drink (especially on a cold winter day), and the bartender made us some wonderful martinis! We were happy they allowed us to have... More

The Gibson has all the old inn charm you want. The rooms on the top floor are the quietest with village views. Apalachicola is a must see historic town. Take a bike and ride around and look at the beautiful houses and streets. The inn's restaurant is very good and the bar with polished wood is one of my favorites.... More

We decided to celebrate the New Year by going to the Gibson Inn for their gala. The inn is "clean, comfortable and charming" as described by another reviewer; bear in mind that it is old and the floors creak and the hot & cold faucets are separate and you can hear the people in the room next door. As long... More

Clean, comfortable, and charming, this little hotel is central to Apalachicola. Shopping and dining are steps away. The hotel bar is packed on Friday nights with locals and tourists and plenty of interesting tales. Staff is friendly and helpful. Best accommodations in Apalach.

Each room is a little different, location is full of history and charm. Wonderful on-site restaurant and the bar is fantastic. Everyone at this Inn works to make you feel at home. Apalachicola is a cute little town and you can walk to most places around town!

Everyone should stay at the Gibson at least once just to get a feel for "old Florida" that it evokes. This historic hotel has rooms that are old but scrupulously clean and appealing. They've been updated just enough to be comfortable for modern tastes but still give a sense of a bygone era. The wraparound porch on three different levels... More

This is a lovely old hotel in a near perfect location. Very nice, attractive lobby and bar. There were wraparound porches on the ground and second floors. The room was tight. It looks like the bathroom was added at some time so my room was a little chopped, but adequate. The bed was comfortable and that was the most important... More

We were on our way back our way back home via back roads. We stopped in town for some seafood, and I made the suggestion to spend the night. We walked in the Gibson, front desk lady very nice. Gave us keys to two rooms to check out which one. We took room 309 mostly because it had a king... More

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent visit to our Gibson Inn. I have pulled the invoice from your stay. The $11.00 charge you mentioned is taxes on the room. Our system breaks out the sales taxes separate from the actual charge for the room itself. we always appreciate the time our guests take to share their thoughts about... More

The Gibson Inn in Apalachicola is the place to stay. Very laid back, very comfortable, very clean. Great people providing excellent service. In house restaurant is one of the best places to dine in town. Our trip took us from Mobile, AL through Daphne, Fairhope and Point Clear, Alabama to Pensacola, Panama City, Destin, FL and many small towns along... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
