Everything about my stay here met or exceeded my expectations! The staff is friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful old Florida style Inn. The on property restaurant and bar are both excellent. The lobby, bar and restaurant are all very nicely decorated and have beautiful hardwood floors! I read some reviews of this Inn that were critical of a...

Although we have not stayed here...each year we stay on Saint George Island...a plethora of us gather at the Gibson for Happy Hour and drinks and cigars on the veranda after dinner at Gormley’s at the Inn. May I say that we have always encountered friendly..service and conversation while there. Even the concierge has allowed us up to the Captains...

We booked a king room. The sheets were not clean and the floor was dirty. They switched us to a different king room. The sheets were clean there, however the bathroom woodwork was an inch in dust with hair stuck to it. I cleaned that. The mattress is creaky and so worn out that there is a lump in the...

The Gibson Inn is a beautiful restored hotel built in 1907. The rooms are nicely decorated and very comfortable. Pricing was about standard for this type of accommodation, but what makes it special is the staff. They treat you like you are part of the family. We had them ship some items home for us and everything was in good...

What can I say, the people at the Gibson go out of their way to make sure your stay is everything you imagined. They went over and above to help me and my girl celebrate a life changing moment! I couldn't be happier and look forward to returning many many times.

We made a late decision to stay one night here to celebrate an anniversary. Consequently, there was only one "room left at the inn", and it was their smallest. Adequate, but far from spacious. Check-in was friendly and quick. There are no elevators. Fortunately we were traveling light. The inn has 30 rooms and has been there since 1907. Expect...

The Gibson is our favorite place to stay in Appalachicola! The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the location is convenient! One of the best places to sit on the porch, and enjoy a beverage with your family and friends! You are within walking distance to all the fun Appalachicola has to offer!

The Gibson Hotels' architecture speaks for itself, old Florida, real wood- no stucco. It's where it happened and still does, folks on the porch mingling in a not so noisy atmosphere like other Johnny come lately spots in this quaint Lost Coast town.

This hotel is charming "old Florida" style. We had a big room on the 1st floor. It easily accommodated 2 adults and 3 kids for one night. The room was clean and the staff (Zanna & Jinny) were very friendly. We enjoyed playing cards in the main room. Followed by dinner. Dinner was OK but, if you're in town for...

Excellent historic inn. We had a lovely two room suite with two full bathrooms. Large wrap around first and second floor veranda with View of the Apalachicola Bay Bridge . Gormleys restaurant on premises is excellent fine dining. Bar has Pub menu and music on weekends.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gibson Inn is a fine example of Florida "Cracker" Architecture. This was the style of wood frame structure used widely in the 19th and early 20th century in Florida. These homes and businesses are characterized by metal roofs, raised floors, high ceilings, center hallways, and large wrap around porches. A widows walk and cupola crown the tin roof, all a reflection of the area's steamboat past. Built in 1907 of native heart pine and black cypress, the inn soon became known as a first class luxury hotel and was the only one between Pensacola and Jacksonville heated entirely by steam. Now listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Many of the 30 guest rooms are uniquely appointed with authentic antique furnishings, cable TV, telephone, and wireless internet. Each guest room has its own full private bath. ... more   less
