Nestled in a prime spot in the capital, it offers easy access to local sights and delights, though some guests feel the luxury experience doesn't quite match the price tag. For a couple of years now, I have really wanted to visit the Waldorf Astoria Washington DC. I’m so glad I finally made it because this was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever stayed in. From the outside alone, we knew that we were staying at the hottest hotel in DC. The clock tower is visible from everywhere on the national mall and it feels like a symbol of power rising above the rooftops in Washington.

Upon arrival, the doorman named Brian greeted us with a smile and assisted us with our bags while escorting us to the front desk. We were very appreciative of Brian’s friendliness and his warm welcome. The front desk allowed us to check in early at roughly 11 AM which allowed us to spend a full day visiting museums. We stayed on the eighth floor in room 846 and we had a spectacular view of the capital. We had a very tall window with automatic shades. The room was in perfect condition in the bathroom was breathtaking. however, I do think the shower could have used more water pressure or water flow. The bathtub was huge and accommodates two people.

That night, we dined at The Bazaar by Jose Andres, which was located on the ground floor. We really wanted to eat at this restaurant and they were capable of and willing to modify select menu items to be vegan for my girlfriend. This was a huge plus because none of the items on the menu are labeled vegan, even though based on the ingredients they may appear to be. The food was presented beautifully and had strong bold flavor. Later that night I ordered red velvet cake and ice cream to the room which was delivered fast and was so delicious. The cake looked individually handmade by a pastry chef, and not like something mass-produced by a distributor. needless to say, it was fantastic. The next morning we ordered breakfast in the room, which came on a roll in table draped with white linens. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the best pancakes I’ve ever had.

We were only there for one night so sadly, we had to check out the next day but because of the room package we booked, we had the room until 2 PM. as we were bringing our bags downstairs, Brian, the doorman kindly held our bags for us downstairs for us to pick up later before our flight. we hoped to visit this hotel again in the future. I enjoyed the one night I stayed in Washington DC more than the eight nights I spent in New York City the week prior. This was the highlight of my trip.

This hotel has it all. Location on Pennsylvania Avenue within walking distance of many restaurants and sights is excellent. Hotel is sumptuous and gorgeous with gorgeous details and furnishings. Linens and bed provided a blissful night of rest. Bar serves up delicious cocktails in a lovely setting. Restaurants are outstanding. Service is unsurpassed. All this in a historic building which I adore. Truly, it has everything. We loved our stay.

This is hands down best hotel in DC if not in the country . They’ve done a remarkable job re purposing this hotel from a historical post office to a most royal , most elegant luxury hotel . The rooms are just impeccably decorated and very spacious . You literally feel like royalty with furnishings you’d imagine would be in the Buckingham palace . The service is also in line with the royal decor . They treat you like the most VIP customer the moment you are warmly greeted by their handsomely dressed door men . Check in was easy , seamless and efficient . The old fashioned cocktails we had at the bar were the best I’ve ever had in my life . Thank you Jose . Huge shout out also to Mary who texted me throughout our stay to ensure every single need was met . I love a good turn down service and was worried they wouldn’t do it since our service dog would be in the room alone but they enlisted the help of one of the housekeepers who loves animals and she dolled up our room while ensuring utmost comfort of our dog . As if that wasn’t enough we came home to a bottle of Veuve and the most delicious carrot cake I’ve ever had in my life / those are fighting words considering I own a bakery and carrot cake is our specialty but this one id hate to admit is even more delicious . Gotta be honest . And in my decades of traveling to some of the finest hotels in the world never have I ever received a bottle of such expensive champagne to toast my partners birthday . This just blew us both away rendering us speechless and compelling me to write a review as quickly as possible to acknowledge such unrivaled generosity and thoughtfulness , complete with a hand written note from Janne Perla - director of banquets and the lovely woman who orchestrated this mind blowing gesture . We thank you from the bottom of our hearts . This wasn’t even a milestone birthday but yet they made it feel like one and more . We live in DC . Have never done a staycation before and just so grateful we came up with this idea if only to experience such first class service that puts any of our previous hotel experiences to shame . Pls pls pls for the love of god book yourself a room at this masterpiece property on your next visit to the nations capital and without batting an eye at the price . It’s actually quite reasonable for such a luxury hotel and worth every dollar in my honest and most sincere opinion . Thank you to the Waldorf Astoria team for making this a most unforgettable experience . I will book a staycation here again and again to celebrate any occasion 🍾🍾🍾🍾❤️❤️❤️❤️

Expecting luxury, surely for a $900/night hotel? I guess this was too much to ask at the Waldorf Astoria in DC. Once inside the rushed/hectic lobby doors, we stood in line at the front desk, manned by one person. After 20 minutes, we were hurriedly taken to our room — an “upgrade” we had to request — located off a restaurant kitchen on the first floor. Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed the stained chair and carpet. I understand that not everything can go perfectly, but let me suggest the following to management – – 1. Make sure that someone opens the door for guests at all times at the front, I saw several people every day, struggling with luggage and trying to open the glass doors by themselves; 2. Clean the room sufficiently so that stains are not so noticeable – – and be sure to clean out used tissues and Q-tips in the jars in the bathrooms, it’s gross; 3. Make sure turn down is offered every night – – we only received it once during our stay; 4. Make sure staff has the attitude of “will do“, not “check with them and see if they can help you“. We had to chase down several different staff members each time when we wanted an umbrella, a stamp, directions to a local restaurant, and water for our rooms. No one seemed to know the answers to our simple questions/requests. Unacceptable. The positives? The room was quiet, the bed comfortable and dinner was great — but I have these things at home, too, for a lot less than $900.

One of the best hotels in Pennsylvania Ave, the Waldorf Astoria - Washington DC, always delivers before, during, and after your stay. I have decided to make this hotel a favorite for celebrating our wedding anniversary and heading to another WA location. The attention to detail, friendly customer service, comfortable rooms, and location make this hotel one of the best in the Waldorf Astoria portfolio. The area is a must, especially since it is within walking distance to great restaurants and museums. I recommend booking a premium room or above; consider doing afternoon tea and take advantage of Peacock Alley for breakfast or drinks. Please be aware that parking is currently around $88 per night.

The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC is an landmark hotel perched like a castle on Pennsylvania Avenue and prestigiously positioned between the White House and the U. S. Capital. My Premium King room was beautiful with chandelier, large windows and blue, white and beige color palette. It provided a seating area with fanciful chairs, ornate furniture with a desk, crown headboard and oversized millwork. The spa-like marbleized bath was outfitted with double vanities and an enclosed shower. Peacock Alley is the principle restaurant and it set in the grand atrium accented with great chandeliers. I can attest to the good food here as I savored a meal of Butternut Squash Soup and Chilean Seabass. The Bazaar is another eatery with a menu powered with Americana flair. The spa is endowed with 6 treatment rooms and a bevy of wellness regimes as well as a fitness center.

So, if you are looking for a hotel that is primed for wheeling and dealing yet close enough to walk to the National Mall...................then try the.......................Waldorf Astoria
Washington DC...........made out of a classic Old Post Office.

Booked a 2 night stay for June. Prearrival email from concierge was received and I informed them of my 3pm arrival. They stated they would try to accommodate the early check in. Arrived at 3pm and was escorted to checkin by doorman and my room was ready. I am Hilton Gold on an Impressario rate booked into lowest level room and was upgraded to a larger room. Benefits were explained and were correct.
I was again escorted to my room (631). The room was large for DC and being on the 6th floor afforded a view of the top of the Washington Monument. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was stocked with the Aesop bath products in the refill bottles. Returning to my room after the down I found a nice box of truffles waiting for me in addition to the pillow chocolates. Peacock Alley is beautiful for drinks for breakfast.
The location of the hotel is perfect for museums and the rest of the sights. All in all, this hotel lives up to the Waldorf name and provides exactly what you would expect from the brand.

My wife and I stayed at this WA over a weekend in June. I’m a Hilton Honors Diamond member and we have stayed at almost all of the Hilton brands except a Waldorf. From the moment we stepped out of the Uber at the steps of the front door, it was clear the service was going to be top notch here. Over the course of our stay, I can say there was not a single WA staff member that didn’t make us feel like we were their only customer. At check in, they thanked me for being a Diamond member and upgraded our room. Everything about this WA felt grand from the lobby to the room to the bathroom in the room, it was all what someone would expect from the top end of the Hilton.

We met some staff members that stood out from the rest as well. Wossen served us breakfast at Peacock Alley and he was great, nice guy. We used our daily food credit that Diamond members receive towards the breakfast. We also met Auggie and Tek at the lobby bar which I think is also part of Peacock Alley. Had some great conversations with those two and when we were about to get up and leave Tek offered to pick up another round of drinks for us. That has never happened anywhere, we did not take him up on it only because we were about to fly, what a hospitable guy! We also had a great light dinner at The Bazaar in the lobby, it was excellent and I reviewed that separately.

I only have one complaint about this WA and it’s not a big deal but I’m going to mention it. There is no face soap in the bathroom which I found strange. Almost all the lower end Hilton properties like The Hampton and Homewood Suites have face soap in the bathrooms. When coming to a Waldorf, I expected even a higher end face soap would be available but no face soap was available.

We had a really nice and memorable experience at this Waldorf Astoria and it ranks as one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. I’m hoping we can visit some different Waldorf Astoria’s in the future.

I forgot to mention, the lady who was playing the harp in the lobby on Saturday morning had my full attention, it was so relaxing. Then all of a sudden, she played Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin and it sounded so awesome, I couldn’t believe it.

The Waldorf Astoria Washington DC, a symbol of luxury and historical significance, hosted an extraordinary event on December 5, 2023, during the visit of the Jamaican Prime Minister. This prestigious occasion was further enhanced by the presence of CGI's new owners, led by Jamaican-born Raoul Thomas, and the attendance of the first female Jamaican ambassador.

The event, held in the hotel's Presidential Conference Room, was not just a meeting of dignitaries but a celebration of Jamaican heritage, marked by the inclusion of authentic Jamaican cuisine, adding a unique and culturally rich dimension to the evening.

The hotel's ambiance, steeped in history and opulence, was the perfect setting for such a distinguished gathering. Every detail, from the grandeur of the lobby to the elegance of the rooms, reflected the Waldorf Astoria's commitment to excellence. The staff's impeccable service and attention to detail ensured that every guest experienced the highest level of hospitality.

Unique Features to Highlight:
Historical and luxurious ambiance, ideal for hosting significant events
Authentic Jamaican cuisine served in the Presidential Conference Room
Impeccable service and attention to detail
Strategic location in Washington DC, near major landmarks

The Waldorf Astoria does not measure up to the other WA properties that I have visited, mostly because of the overall poor service. The hotel is beautiful; however, during my stay, the staff was very unorganized. I arrived early and was told that the hotel sold out the night before and they would text me once my room was available. I checked my luggage with the front desk and headed off for lunch and an afternoon at the museums. Around 4:30pm, I still did not hear from the hotel and when I walked back to check in, I was told that my room was ready, but no one bothered contacting me. The person at the front desk took my baggage claim ticket and told me that my luggage would arrive in the room shortly. After almost 2 hours, I called to check on my luggage and my assumption is they lost the ticket because they asked me to describe my luggage. Once the bell person arrived at the room, he seemed confrontational stating that I never gave my claim ticket to the lady at the front desk. I was a little taken aback by the attitude and acquisition from someone in the hospitality industry. I told him, that it was not a problem and gave him a tip. The next day, I went downstairs to their main dining area because a friend was meeting me for brunch (not high noon tea). I was told that you have to make a reservation to sit in the dining area (anywhere except for the bar). This information would have been very helpful during check-in. When I returned to the hotel after having brunch elsewhere, my room key did not work. I walked back down to the front desk to get a new room key. The person helping me was the manager. She asked how my stay was so far and I was honest. I told her the hotel was beautiful, my room was beautiful, but the service was not great. The manager apologized and stated she would make things right, but alas, none of the things that she said she would correct were addressed. I plan on staying at a different hotel the next time that I visit Washington DC. I booked this trip via AMEX FHR program, and I was unable to use any of the benefits that are supposed to come with that program. I hope others have better service.
