Detailed Reviews
The rooms were very dirty and had cockroaches, the staff was able to change us to a different room but still not any better. They seemed like they knew it was a common problem. Sign of 'fully booked' was most likely not true. Besides that, the crowd staying in and around the hotel area was quite sketchy. The only good thing was that it was cheap, but any price you pay higher is worth avoiding this motel.

The room was a non smoking and when we turned on the AC ash filled our room, the bathroom was covered in ash, the tv didn’t work, we asked for fresh towels and were told no. The attendant didn’t want to help us at all and kept saying it was our fault. for price and maybe a quick layout maybe consider but I wouldn’t recommend

I would advise anyone considering staying in this Motel 6 to seriously reconsider.
I gave my credit card and driver's license to the desk when I checked in. My driver's license was returned to me, but not my credit card. Unfortunately for me, I didn't notice this oversight.
The next day, I went to the front desk to book another night but couldn't find my credit card. The person at the desk said that her coworker was supposed to return it to me. But he hadn't!
By that time, my credit card had been fraudulently used several times.
I can't say who was responsible for the theft and use of my credit card. The police are investigating. But I believe that there are some serious discrepancies in the motel's internal investigation of the incident.
I would never stay at the Motel 6 again!

My stay at Motel6 6711 Georgia Ave, NW DC was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable, clean, and welcoming accommodation. The friendly staff, well-maintained rooms, and strategic location make it a standout choice for travelers. Also, I found the pricing to be fair and reflective of the value provided. The Silver Spring Motel 6 would not honor the Internet rate that I booked through the Motel 6 website. This was even after they asked for a printout of the reservation and I showed it to the manager. The manager gave some excuse about being busy/fully booked and that the rate was AARP even if the reservation website doesn't say this anywhere. We decided to stay at the Ramada down the road. I wouldn't book at Motel 6 again (this one at least) and tell all my friends not to either. Very disappointed at (non-existent) customer service.

Back in January, I stayed at the establishment and had some problems. In fact, whilst sleeping, folks tried to walk in as the room was checked out to them even after it had been so fo me. Well, I complained. In response, I got a letter from the manager apologizing and offering a 50% discount on my next stay.
Now to 09/09/05. I approach the counter and present the letter. To my dismay, he said it was only good for one evening and that I should have known that. It is not dislosed at all on the document. Who the heck would fly up from Dallas for one evening at a Motel 6? Needless to say, a formal complaint is in the works.
Also, there is a bad ant problem, at least in room 411. Beware!

I see that many others have shared negative reviews, however I'll share mine as well to seal the deal! So, there was a rodent in our room that not only ate our expensive chocolates but nibbled a hole in a very expensive jacket of mine. The worst part was that the staff were very rude about it. When my husband went down to tell them about the rodent, all the staff had to say was "So...? Rats are everywhere... Are you afraid of them?" At this point, the preferable option would have been to leave and not give them our business, but it was late and we really had no where else to go. We were moved to a room that they assured us was non-smoking but it literally smelled as though someone had just finished a smoke. To make matters worse, the smoke detector went off in the middle of the night because it was broken.

Would you believe it?
We checked in at Motel 6, 6711 Georgia St Washington DC 20012, evening of July 15.
As soon as we entered our room (# 219) and turned the lights on, we saw some bugs scrambling under furniture and under the board base.
Not knowing what kind of bags we had, I killed a couple and took them down to reception.
The girl there told me they were cockroaches; as you might well understand I was not happy about this to say the least and asked her to get another room.
Unfortunately motel was booked out and we had to put up with the inconvenience, but slept with lights on.
Next morning we had a tour scheduled at the White House, so we did not have the time to check out and look for another accommodation, but asked the front desk to have the room completely cleaned out and disinfected or change the room in case one was made available.
When we got back in the evening we found the situation had not changed; cockroaches were still present.
I killed at least 8 of them and at the same time went through the procedure to check out with Experia (?) our tour operator and to get booked somewhere else.
We spent again the night with lights on and very uneasy about the unbelievable situation we found ourselves in.
Following morning July 17, after having taken a short film of two darting cockroaches, I strongly complained with on-site manager but the only comment I got was “sorry”, which really is a miserable way of dealing with such a detestable inconvenience.
I have been travelling quite extensively in the past and I can assure you that I have never had such a horrible experience, not even in underdeveloped countries like Turkey, Iran or pre-dissolution Eastern Europe.
I would have never expected to find cockroaches in an American hotel and certainly not in Washington DC.
It is a scar that will ever remain forever on my travelling experience ad I will never again even consider booking into a Motel 6, ever!.
We then moved out and booked in at Hayatt Capitol Hill and things were totally different; thanks God!!!

For starters, the area did not feel safe when I pulled into the parking lot. Then, the front desk attendant was not particularly friendly or helpful. The hallway smelled of urine and was pretty dank, and my room wasn't a whole lot better. The bed did not seem clean, the toilet seat was broken, and the towels were dingy and way past their useful lifespan. Would not stay again, even though the price was low.
