A grand entrance and an even grander lobby! The staff is top notch, including the front desk, valet parking, and bartenders at the Round Robin. As others here have commented, the rooms are showing a bit of wear and walls could definitely use some art. But that didn’t detract from our experience there. The bathroom is spectacular, and I especially appreciated the covid-safe procedures in place throughout the hotel (including a sealed package of face masks in the room). And of course the location can’t be beat. Very reasonably priced for a hotel of this caliber in DC. I would absolutely stay again.

It was wonderful to stay at the Willard again! The DC spring was in full bloom and the Willard staff made every effort to provide for our safety and hospitality. The meals outdoors at Cafe Du Parc were amazing, The front desk staff has taken on the role of coordinating for housekeeping, room service, etc and did it efficiently and with grace. Our Willard Suite was comfortable and pristine, and had a super view of the Washington Monument, Room service even delivered our meal on real china with real flatware! It was a delightful stay.

I’m in-house at the moment having arrived at 5pm yesterday. It’s my first time in The Willard, perhaps over the 18 years of IHG patronage, I’ve come to expect a certain level of service.

This is the first InterContinental Hotel where I have been left to take my own luggage to the room. We were observed by several members of staff as we walked through the hotel with our baggage however no one came to help and there was no sign of any bell hop on the main doors.

On check in the usual “thank you for being an IHG loyalty member” blurb was stated, twice as it happens as it was clear the first time had been forgotten as quickly as it was blurred out.

I checked as I always do that the sofa bed had been made up ready in advance of our arrival, and was assured it had. I had and always do request this, as our youngest son has anxiety around travelling to new places and it’s incredibly distressing for him to arrive to a hotel room and find nowhere to sleep.

Part of the reason we stay at IHG branded hotels is that he is familiar with how they all work. He even has a gold “I” badge that was gifted to him by InterContinental Abu Dhabi in recognition of his “loyalty”

We were handed an IHG branded chocolate, a complimentary drink voucher for one person with the receptionist name on (instead of our own) and keys to the room.

I asked where the elevators were. Still pointing at luggage, but again offered no help with getting to our room.

Our room is on the 8th Floor. On arrival, the sofa bed was not made up, so we did our usual distraction techniques to allay the anxieties.

Despite the room being booked for 3 people, no additional toiletries or bottled water had been placed in the room. Effectively we had just been assigned a room on arrival with no forward planning going into the decision whatsoever.

The room is very nice, has everything we need and a spacious bathroom.

We had turn down service from a very cheery lady who was utterly delightful to chat to. Sadly she didn’t have the empowerment to organise the sofa bed, but recommended I call down to reception (again) to get it sorted.

I’m not impressed with guest service so far. InterContinental Brand for me has been solid in its attention to detail. There is no excuse for being second best when displaying the “I” logo above your front door in my opinion.

It feels like the hotel is resting on its location rather than stepping up to ensure it not only meets expectation, it should be striving to exceed.

I’ve had to google breakfast facilities, as there was no information about it. Instead, a rather hopefully placed room service breakfast card on the bed to greet us.

We went out for a walk, and the sofa bed had been made up by our return. Still no additional water or toiletries for my son.

I’m off to CVS to get a bottle of water & some more shower gel. The hotel clearly doesn’t think that child guests are worth the effort.

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your visit to the Willard InterContinental. It saddens us to learn your experience fell short on being a memorable one here at our historic property. My husband and I decided to stay here instead of the Conrad for our 20th anniversary. I honestly wish we had stayed at the Conrad. The service was lackluster and we were taking better care at one of the restaurants than here. The shower head and refrigerator in our room wasn’t working properly and overall I think it was a complete disappointment for us to be celebrating our 20th year anniversary at an establishment that is presumably known for excellence and high class. They surely didn’t give that off during our stay. I mean seriously where’s the appreciation and catering to your customers. It was just an average experience for a high price. The only positive takeaway from this experience was that the hotel is in a great location for the restaurants in which we wanted to dine in.

Smooth, friendly and very efficient check-in. Entire staff from bellhop to front desk was very friendly, courteous and efficient. Room was very clean and nicely appointed. When I discovered the refrigerator bar was not fully stocked, room service was called and immediately came up to the room and ensured it was properly stocked.

We spent 5 luxurious nights at The Willard. It was a great place to stay while in DC. We are within walking distance of the National Mall, great restaurants and local transportation.
The staff at the Willard could not be nicer. The hotel itself is tastefully appointed. There are many large rooms for meetings or conferences. Housekeeping goes the extra miles to keep the entire hotel sanitized and comfortable for guests and visitors.
Our room is on the 8th floor and has a wonderful view of the Washington Monument and I can see the Lincoln Memorial in the distance from my pillow!
There is a delightful Cafe du Parc onsite serving hearty meals with a French flair with a quickie pastry/coffee bar located inside. At this time, a cocktail bar is open Thursday through Sunday.
We highly recommend at stay at The Willard!

We had a great holiday visit to the Willard. We had reserved small suites for ourselves and our sons. Upon checking in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a larger suite for a small upcharge. Turns out the suite was the John F. Kennedy Suite, with an oval living room! It was huge and lovely. The staff was also very helpful in finding us a DVD player. The hotel was gorgeously decorated for the holidays.

We visited for a week before Christmas and our enormous two queen, one bedroom suite was stunning! With a living room, two bathrooms, a kitchen, large entryway, dining table and large closets… it was beyond our expectations! Everything was spotless and the room contained fluffy towels, luxurious toiletries and plenty of drawers and hangers.

Room service breakfast was quick and hot and delicious. Housekeeping was friendly and thorough and turn-down service was fun with a postcard “bedtime story” about the historic hotel along with delicious chocolates. The kitchen was kept well stocked with coffees and creamers for their Nespresso machine and also offered a mini refrigerator. Plentiful water bottles were left at both day and turndown service.

The location was perfect… a short walk to the Smithsonian Museums and historic sites. Taxis were always lined up and available, if we needed them… and great restaurants were within a few blocks. The hotel itself really put us in the holiday spirit… lights and decorations everywhere, a giant tree in the lobby and nightly caroling entertainment… a champagne bar and oodles of chairs and sofas to relax and enjoy the festivities. The Round Robin bar was a blast and we enjoyed several fabulous cocktails and yummy appetizers. The service and food at Cafe du Parc was outstanding and Le Cafe was perfect for coffee and pastries on the run. Check-in and out was simple and friendly.

Overall, a wonderful experience! I would highly recommend it and will stay here again on our next visit!

We stayed at The Willard Hotel at the end of August 2020. We definitely had concerns about COVID and cleanliness, but we were assured by the attention they gave to the issue online. The Willard came through for us. Very clean, no magazine clutter (with other hands touching them), wonderful food (mostly in-room dining), all staff and other visitors wore masks, gracious and genial staff members. We stayed in a suite, the Calvin Coolidge, which is a corner suite with a perfect view of the Washington Monument. Perfect trip for us, thanks in large part to The Willard. We'll stay there again should the need arise to visit Washington again.

Thank you for such a complimentary review. While travel to the city may look a bit different in light of the pandemic, the service we provide to our guests here at The Willard remains the 5-star service we are known for. Committed to the IHG Clean Promise, elevated cleaning procedures and enhanced service standards have been implemented at our hotel with the health and well-being of our guests in mind. It's humbling to hear these efforts were noticed, appreciated and comforting throughout your stay.
